Good Bye Miss April.

Hello Woofers,

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy and Freddy de Ferret here!

Terribly sad news today.

Miss April has gone.

We had been out for our morning walk and she enjoyed her 'carry' around either on Old Two Legs arm or sitting in his cupped hand and looking out of the ferret bag while we all investigated sniffs!

She got back into the Travelling Cage and we headed for home.

Some time during the journey she died of a heart attack. She has been poorly for a number of months and we knew she was on borrowed time.

On the last visit to the vet to get medicine, the vet seemed surprised to see her still alive!

She was a super little ferret and loved a cuddle with OTL and a game with her sister May.

Being a ferret, she was amazingly brave as I can confirm, there has been many times when she wanted to get past me and instead of going around, she came up and gave me a nip on my back leg which made me jump! I'm ten times the size of her but it didn't  mean a thing to her, no one messes with Miss April!

She and her sister came to us from the Harrietsham Ferret Rescue and settled in straight away. They both fought with Snowflake and Brambles, so they had to be kept in separate cages!

When Brambles and Snowflake passed away, they were replaced with Fred & Wilma.

War started before they got in the cage, so, two groups of ferrets became the norm in this house!

April was diagnosed with Cardiomyopathy, which is a weak heart and just didn't have the energy to do much racing about but she still enjoyed teasing the other ferrets, from the safety of the outside of the cage.

She still enjoyed a gentle rough and tumble with her sister who seemed to know to be soft with her.

Of late, walking back to the car, Miss May would walk along side April, as if to give her support and comfort, just like a sister should do!

We are going to miss April, she was a super ferret and an Honorary Woofer!

She has now gone to rest in the garden with Snowflake, Brambles and Miss Wilma for company.

We of course will always say hello as we pass the flower pots and keep them all up to date with the happenings in the house.

Luv,

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy and Freddy de Ferret.

  1. Afternoon little maties. We were all very sad to hear about Miss April. We know she had the best of everything in Godwin Towers and that she was a very lucky little ferret to be adopted by you all. I expect she is telling Snowflake, Mr Brambles and Miss Wilma all about her adventures, nipping you and Holly chops, teasing Freddy and Miss Wendy and giving them all a chuckle. It's nice that you'll be able to have a little chat when you pass by the pots and keep them up to date with the goings on. We hope that Miss May can find another little friend in time, to look after and protect as she did so well with little April. We're also pleased that Miss April managed to attain honorary woofer status. Give OTL and Mrs TM some hugs from us all here and tell them that we are so sorry, but Miss April would never have lasted so long anywhere else, with all the love and care she got there. At least Miss April enjoyed her morning with OTL, sitting up high and seeing the world go by. My boy and Mrs boy have gone off to London to watch the wrestling, we hope they don't come home and start doing the moves. Take care of each other and snuggle up for some hugs tonight. Lots of love, licks and sniffs from little Arch, Mr Nipper, my mum, my boy and Mrs boy. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  4. We were so sorry to hear the sad news but on the bright side Miss April had a lovely life in Godwin Towers, the love of a sister and honours woofer status. Miss May will be looking for her but you are all there to support her. A day to be remembered with the Grain stack coming down, a sort of memorial to April. The tallest structure now is in Dover but I don't suggest you go and find it. Take care, big snuggles all round. XXXXX.

  5. So very sad to hear that Miss April has passed away. She had a wonderful life as an honorary woofer with all you Godwin's. Not many ferrets get a walk on the beach every day. We will miss hearing about her adventures. Sending you all huge hugs and licks. Love Izzy, Hamish, Bella and Molly Cat. Xxx
