It's a Squirrel Type of Day!

Hi Ho Woofers!

Daisy & Holly here.

It has been a bit of a mixed day today, first of all we both woke up early this morning, Old Two Legs was snoring his head off!

Holly and I jumped up onto the bed and gave his ears a good licking and Holly even licked his nose! That stopped him making such a noise!

We had our morning walk along the Sea Wall but OTL forgot to bring his camera, well, to be honest, he brought his camera but forgot to bring the battery that had been on charge over night!

Now that was a shame 'cos you missed out on seeing Holly wrestling with a big otter we found on the beach and the near miss we both had with the Sea Eagle that was sitting on top of the bushes. Of course, there were loads of Greylag geese trying to dig up all the worms before the Wormy Men got out there on the mud.

So it was a shame you missed all that, just 'cos OTL forgot the camera battery!

After lunch we headed off to The Forest to hunt for more squirrels, we started off by sniffing for their tracks in the snow.

Sniffin for Squirrel Tracks!
We found the tracks but they didn't lead us to any squirrels. Holly said it would be a good idea if we tried tracking them on the fallen trees where they run about looking for where they buried their nuts!

Here! I smell Squirrel Wee!
It seemed to go well at first with Holly finding some interesting sniffs.

Then I had a go and found some signs of squirrels

Look! Squirrel Poo!
It was OK finding the traces of squirrel, but it didn't lead to actually finding a live, running, jumping Hairy Tailed Squirrel!

There's more Wee Here!
In the end I gave up, it's OK looking for squirrels but if they are going to stay in bed then there's no point in hunting them!

We set off looking for anything else that was moving. We found some birds dancing around and tweeting in the trees, then Holly spotted a Tree Creeper going up the tree looking for food!

Tree Creeper
Towards the end of the walk, OTL and Holly had got ahead of me and I spotted a squirrel and his brother sitting on the branches over my head! I stopped and watched them for a bit, I called to Holly to come back but she was more interested in a sniff near the gate. OTL wanted to get back to the car and had Holly on the lead, so, I just sat there and kept an eye on them, just in case they came down to the ground, I would have got both of them if they did!

I can see them!
No such luck! Off they went and both of them blew raspberries as they went!

Back home for a meal of Lambs Heart, one of our favourite dinners!

We went up to OTL to mug some of his dinner but poor lad, The Missus had given him Pork Pie and salad!

No wonder he was looking so glum! We rushed off to eat our dinner before he got the idea that lambs heart would be better than pork pie and salad!

See you tomorrow!

Forrest Fun

Hi Woofers!

Daisy & Holly here and what a day!

First we went down to the Sea Wall, with our coats on as protection against the wind, but when we got there we found that the wind had dropped down to a mild breeze!

So, after running around a bit we both got a bit warm.

Chance for roll in the snow to cool down!

Cooling Roll on the Beach!
Holly resisted the roll but stuck her nose into the snow and was throwing it up in the air!

Daft Doggy!

Up you go!
We got to the bend in the path and spotted the Brent Geese on the beach. We stood and watched them for a few moments and discussed the possibility of rushing down to the beach and grabbing one for dinner!
Well, it would be a change from chicken!

What do you reckon our chances are?
We worked out our speed and the distance we were from the geese and the time it would take for us to get there, then we added the time and distance it would take for them to fly away.

After all that, we decided it wasn't worth it!

I found a stick on the path and Holly and I had a good time trying to keep it away from the other, first I had it, then Holly got it and we ended up with both of us having it!

S'my Stick!
We heard a woofing over the hill and rushed up to find young Bryn running towards us. We had a fun time chasing each other over the snow. Bryn said that he had not been out for a few days 'cos his owner had a bad arm. So now he was let out he was having a great time pretending he was indestructible and could take on the World!

Holly called him Bryn the Terrible and chased him all around Old Two Legs a couple of times! When you see that he is almost as tall as us you can see Holly's joke!

Bryn the Terrible!
After a spot of lunch, OTL took us down to The Forest and we found that the snow was still there on the ground almost as deep as it was when it first fell!

Snow in the forest.
We went hunting squirrels all through the trees, Holly did her 'Squirrel Spotting' while I chased them from tree to tree! Those sneaky squirrels stayed up in the trees and would not come down where we could get to them!

Spotting for Daisy!
We managed to chase two squirrels from tree to tree until they disappeared!

Quick, they went That a Way!
While we were hunting squirrel, OTL was trying out his newly serviced posh camera and took two pictures, one he focused up on the bushes, then onto the snow covered table. When he got home, he played about on the computer and merged the two together. Why?

DoF
OTL said that it was a sneaky way to increase the Depth of Field. He has done this before but had a tripod with him, this time it was a hand held.

We think he was just showing off!

Tonight OTL says he will get his shortbread out again, so we are in for some nibbles tonight!

Bye for now, see you tomorrow!

The Snow Man's Gone!

Hi Woofers!

Daisy & Holly back with you again.

What a cold and windy day today! We went on our morning walk, with our coats on, 'cos the wind was blowing and the snow was trying very hard to snow! Poor Old Two Legs had to have his hood up on his coat as well as his hat!

You know, it was so cold that even the sniffs were frozen!

Look! Frozen Sniffs!

The tide was out so we saw a few Brent Geese and some waders paddling about in the mud. This time OTL sneaked down the breakwater and surprised the Brent Geese, so they all made a noise that sounded a bit like a Birdy Raspberry!

We know you're there!
As we got to the end of our walk, we came upon a terrible sight, the Snow Man had gone!

I mean, like there was nothing left of him at all!

Gone, just Gone!

There's no man here!
Holly reckons he has gone back to digging for worms but I think that he has gone off with the Snow Fairy!

We came back to the Sea Wall at lunch time but didn't spend a long time down there 'cos the wind just blew right the way through you.

Holly and I had a game of chase on the beach, the only place where there was some good snow, we even had a roll in it for fun!

A Roll in the Snow!
Half way through the roll my coat came undone and I got snow down my neck! OTL brushed it all out and put my coat back in place.

Holly and I then ran along the beach sniffing and woofing all the way to the end of the path!

The wind was blowing so hard and the waves were getting blown all over the place, Holly reckons this is a real Winters Day!

Winters Day Today!
Back home to Lambs Heart and Biscuits and afterwards we can mug OTL for his Shortbread!

TM is out tonight, doing one of her Master Classes on paint spreading techniques with a pastry roller, I think she calls it Brayering!

See you tomorrow!

The Revenge of The Worms!

Hi Woofers!

Daisy & Holly back with you again!

Guess what? Holly didn't want to get up this morning, she had found a warm soft part of Old Two Legs bed and she was not going to move for anything. Well, that was until OTL started tickling her tail until she was wriggling around and laughing! Well, it's got to be better than grumbling first thing!

We went down to the Sea Wall, the sun was shining but the wind was a bit chilly. That means we were running about all over the place to keep warm and if we got too hot, we just had a roll in the snow!
A Good place for a roll!

Poor Wormy man was not feeling too well, we think that a passing gang of Worms had a word with him for digging up all their family members. Lets say he has a w(hole) new outlook on life! Holly said he was looking Arm-less as well as having his head in the clouds!

I don't feel well!

We saw some Brent Gees close to shore and Holly was ready to run down the beach to grab one, just to see if they tasted like chicken but OTL said no, the mud would be very cold and mucky!

Chicken or Goose or Chicken or Goose?

All of a sudden we heard a familiar sound .......... 'Yahoooo Girlies!

It was Barney!

Yahoooo Girlies!
There he was, in a flurry of snow and ice, racing along the path! We had a game of chase and of course he won on account of his long legs.

He showed us a new trick he had perfected, it involved his 'Ball on a Rope' and he could balance the ball on the end of the rope!

Just like That!

A couple of times it fell over but in the end I spotted how he did it, he would swing it around and then pretend it was balanced. I know that 'cos he never kept it up for very long!

Or maybe like That!

After he had gone I told Holly how he did the ball and rope trick but she didn't believe me at all and said that I was only jealous 'cos I couldn't do it and I said that she only believed him 'cos she fancied him really and................................ and that's when the fight started!

Fight!
Holly was showing off all the way home but after a bit of lunch and a game with OTL everything was OK!

The Missus has been off to babysit this afternoon so we have been playing 'Chase' with OTL all over the house, he has been chasing us with our squeaky toys and we have been fighting with him by jumping up and licking his ears!

TM got back just before dinner, so we had nice warm chicken and biscuits this evening, after mugging OTL for a bit of his dinner!

We plan to go to the Riverside tomorrow 'cos OTL has got some stuff to drop off and we pass the park, so, more chasing the birds!

Bye bye for now.

See you tomorrow.

Daisy & Holly

Frozen Wormy Man!

Hi Woofers!

Daisy & Holly back again.

This morning we were down the Sea Wall, all very snowy and calm!

Calm
I was running and jumping in and out and all over the snow.

Me jumping!
Holly on the other hand was trying to fly again, without much success. I told her the runways were too snowy for a take off!

I've got snow on my undercarriage!
We got just around the corner when we saw one of the Wormy Men who had been waiting for the tide to go out, poor lad, he must have forgot to drink his Bovril!

Frozen Wormy Man!
Old Two Legs was laughing at us for thinking it was real, he said that you can make things like that with the snow, even doggies like us, but not moving!

I'll make a Big Dog!
Holly tried to make a snow dog but she got fed up with digging and then trying to pat the snow into shape 'cos it kept sticking to her paws!

Just about then Tess came bounding over the hill and made a big fuss of OTL and told us all about the Snow Fairy and wasn't it great and she hope it will stay forever and didn't it tickle your nose when you sniff it in!

Isn't it great!
As she was a young puppy we didn't let on that it would be gone soon but we told her to keep warm and enjoy having a roll in the snow!

OTL was going on about the mist and the light and he was playing with his camera. He said that the shot of the Medway Fort reminded him of the pictures by the painter Turner, who ever he was!

Strange light across the Medway
On our way back we caught a fisherman taking a photo of our frozen Wormy Man, maybe he wanted to buy some worms so he can teach them how to swim!

Smile, say Snow!

Lunch time we went out down to the New Park for a run around. We met up with a young Beagle who was all jumping and running around. No manners at all, I had to give him a good woofing for sticking his nose under my tail!

Woof Off!
Even Holly had to give him a woof as well, which is most unlike Holly, but you must tell them off if they deserve it or else they will grow up thinking they can just do it to anyone!

After he had gone I did what I have been wanting to do for some time, I had a roll in the snow!

It was super, I rolled onto my side, then my back, then my other side and then back again and then I did it all over again three more times!

OTL was laughing at me having so much fun that I thought he would join me for a roll!

Super, Just SUPER!
Back home for a rub down with our towel and a snooze before dinner, Chicken & Biscuits!

I wonder if the Wormy Man will still be there tomorrow?

Bye bye for now!

Luv,

Daisy & Holly

She's Here!

Yo Woofers!

Daisy & Holly & The Snow Fairy here!

Finally she has arrived, she crept up here during the night, well when we went to bed she hadn't arrived  but this morning WOW! She has covered everything!

We went for a run over The Farm 'cos Old Two Legs decided it was not worth getting the big car out on slippery roads just so we can have a wee!

We didn't care and after putting on our coats we were off!

Running along the road was great, jumping over the snow, it was so deep, it came up to our tummy's!

Nearly up to our tummy's!
We said hello to the man from the village shop, he said it was a bit too cold for him!

Too Cold!
Up at the Field, OTL let us off the lead and we ran................all over the field!

Yahooooooooo!
There were sniffs from passing foxes and other dogs who had come out for a walk earlier.

OTL sneaked off while we were sniffing, then he called us and ran off, so we both chased after him and caught him in no time, you see, he can't run quickly on the snow, not like us!

Caught You!
In the distance there was one of these Serious Runners, you know, headband, Lycra trousers and running shoes!

As she passed we shouted 'Hello' but we know that to her it sounded like 'Woof'!

Serious Runner!
Holly was charging ahead when she suddenly stopped and started woofing, me being big and brave, hung back and did my Meerkat stance and saw that it was nothing but a black plastic bag caught on the fence!

Whatsthat?
Wot a big Scary Dog she is!

When we got back home we had great big lumps of snow hanging onto our fur, so, OTL and The Missus washed us down with warm water to get rid of the lumps. It was soon all off and we were soon dried and brushed!

OTL brushed the snow off the bird food and refilled the bird feeders and was treated to a Robin and a Blackbird landing on the feeders while he was working on them!

Finished Yet?
The Robin was even braver, It just hopped onto the feeder and started eating!

Thanks for the food, now clear off!
OTL got the message and left them to it, he went out the front and took a picture of one of the trees with the snow on the branches!

One of our trees!
So now we have a picture of our tree and the Snow Fairy!

Well, that's all for today, we have been so busy, even at lunch time it was more snow and warm water to get the snow balls off our legs!

We're looking forward to a run tomorrow along the Sea Wall, just to see what the Snow Fairy has done down there!

Bye bye for now.

The Snow Fairy is late!

Hi Ho Woofers!

Daisy & Holly here!

Well, we were disappointed this morning, we both woke up good and early and stuck our noses behind the curtain to see what the Snow Fairy had done over night, nothing!

Holly and I were Not Amused!

We had looked at the weather forecast and that said there would be snow, but here in North Kent, nothing!

Holly even went back to bed and showed off, especially when Old Two Legs told her to get up 'cos we're going for a walk, she got all grumbly and refused to get up until OTL threatened to give her a bath!

When we got down to the Sea Wall, we had a good sniff around but didn't find any snow, Holly was not happy at all!

Look, No Snow!
OTL said that we may find some a bit further on but Holly was still showing off and was doing her 'Grumbly Mood' show off bit all the way along the beach!

OTL spotted a Curlew landing a bit further up the beach, so he started his 'Sneaky Up Walk' so he can get a good picture. Holly and me walked along the Sea Wall looking for sniffs.

Holly decided to walk a little further up and without OTL noticing, scared off the Curlew! Holly didn't say anything but she ran off into the grass to watch OTL.

He sneaked up to the breakwater and popped his camera over the top and snapped a.........

Redshank!
Holly was rolling on the ground laughing!

Now it was OTL's turn to be Grumbly!

As we turned the corner, there, on the ground, was a long trail of snow! It was in small patches and was melting!

Snow?
Holly said it was strange and was it just where the Snow Fairy had stopped and had a wee? Further up we found a larger patch, so we inspected it, sniffed it, licked it, pawed it a bit.

Snow Fairy?
We decided that it was Snow Fairy Wee and that if we were good, she would come back again!

So, off we went home and were good puppies all the morning and even lunch time when OTL had some buttered toast for lunch!

Well, we only mugged him a little bit!

After lunch we went out to The Farm, which was good 'cos we haven't been there for a week or two.

New Sniffs.
There were a few more sniffs to sample and Holly says that she can sniff the new plants growing.

We went on a bit further and we met up with a Staffy and a huge Rottweiler who decided I might be fun to chase. Well, I was just a little bit scared but I didn't show it too much and when he started to chase me I turned around and gave him one of my serious ''YoucomeanycloserandIwillpullyourtailupthroughyourmouthantieitinaknotaroundyourteeth'  type of woof!

Any Closer!
That sorted him out and I seriously impressed Holly with my brave stand.

I didn't tell her I was nearly pooing my self!

After that little 'Meeting' we were into the woods to search for squirrels but they were all in bed!

So, we went hunting for foxes, we found a load of holes that looked promising and there were some foxy type sniffs to be sniffed. At one hole we shouted down for the fox to wake up and come out for a chat. As you guessed, nothing, they stayed inside and carried on snoozing!

Hey! Foxy, come on out!
So off we went to another hole and that smelt even more of foxy, so we shouted again and Holly reckons she could hear some snoring going on down the hole!

We know you're down there!
Back home we both were given a roasted pigs ear each, Holly fell asleep cuddling it but I gave mine a good mullering and soon finished it!

OTL said it would spoil my appetite for the lambs heart dinner tonight, just watch me!

Claws crossed for visit by the Snow Fairy!

See you tomorrow.

Luv,

Daisy & Holly
