Hello Woofers!
It's daisy, Holly, Miss Wendy and Eric de Ferret here again!
Busy Busy today! We went out for our walks and today it is chilly and cloudy so it was a good job Old Two Legs got the 'sticking dow2n' done on the caravan. Today it the wiring and stuff.
Now, we have had a puzzling day today.
The 'Instructions' for installing the dome and stuff says in an almost throw a way comment. 'Do not shorten or lengthen the coax cable between the dome and decoder box.
Now, the cable going to the decoder will not go through the ceiling so OTL left that in place, added a couple of connectors and assembled it all.
It wouldn't work.
So, after a load of fiddling with the controls and getting nowhere OTL disconnected the additional coax, plugged it in and 'Pow!' it worked!
Now, OTL is into radio and antennae and understands things to do with coax lengths and frequencies etc.
After a little thinking OTL reckons the coax length is tied up with the frequency of the transmissions from the satellite and the coax feeder cable has been cut to act as stacked antenna. Stacked meaning a number of resonate antenna giving gain to the incoming signal.
No, I really don't understand it either but just accept that it makes it work!
So, all day he has been twiddling and fiddling and routing the cable around the bedroom door frame.
In the end it looked OK and now he has to finish off the other bits, get a new battery and tidy up all the tools.
So, there you are, a day of hard work for OTL and a day of snoozing by the front window watching OTL climb up and down the ladder and in and out of the caravan.
I'll bet he sleeps well tonight!
See you tomorrow.
Luv,
Daisy, Holly, Miss Wendy and Eric de Ferret.
