Not a Happy Daisy!

Hello Woofers!

Daisy & Holly here.

We were up early this morning, I know that 'cos when I jumped up onto Old Two Legs bed and gave his ear a good licking, all he said was '......What Time is IT?'

He has no idea how hard it is for me to get up at four in the morning just to give his ear a wash!

Well, because the little car has been taken off for mending, we went for a walk over The Field. OTL said that we couldn't go down to The Sea Wall 'cos we would have grubby paws and mess up his nice clean car!

OTL had to deliver a panic order to one of his customers, so we went with him, of course!

After the delivery we went to the Riverside Park and had a wonderful time. We played 'Chase the Ball' then it was 'Hunt the Rabbit' and after that it was 'Hunt the Rat'!

We were hunting everything!

OTL found a strange looking caterpillar and OTL took a picture!

Strange Caterpillar!
The plant was Ragwort and the caterpillar will grow into a Cinnabar moth which looks like this.

Cinnabar moth
OTL didn't take the picture of the moth, he copied it from the Internet!

He also found a Teasel plant that the Goldfinches love 'cos it has seeds that they love!

Teasel Plant.
While OTL was playing with his camera Holly and I were tearing around all over the place!

Good Sniff this is!

Back home we both had a snooze but when I woke up I could tell all was not well. My back legs hurt and my front legs were hurting as well! I could not move at all!

OTL picked me up and we had a cuddle all afternoon, which was very unusual 'cos normally I don't do cuddles like that unless there is some shortbread in it!

Around six OTL made a phone call to the vet.

I do not like vets, I always get hurt, OTL doesn't like vets 'cos the hurt his wallet!

When we went into the 'Consultation Room' I got upset and wouldn't let the vet touch me!

OTL had to make another appointment for when we get back off holiday 'cos they want to do some tests on me!

We left the vet with some 'anti-inflammatory' pills which are supposed to take the pain away.

Trouble was, it didn't help OTL when he got the bill, it still hurt him!

So, this evening it is a cuddle with OTL and an early night and let's hope tomorrow I'll be better!

Bye for now.

Luv,

Daisy & Holly

Mirages and Rabbits

Hi Woofers!

Daisy & Holly here!

After our Shampoo & Set yesterday, Old Two Legs didn't have much to brush this morning, instead of a big bunch of hair in the brush, there was none! That means a quick brush then off for breakfast!

OTL held us back while he put the 'Anti Flea' stuff on our backs, it is all wet and damp and makes you itch for a moment or two after he dabs it right between our shoulders!

We had a bit of excitement when we went out this morning, first of all the horizon was all wobbling about and then buildings started to appear in amongst the wobbly bits. OTL said it was a 'Mirage' and it happens sometimes when the weather conditions were right. It seemed strange looking at buildings that were not really there, well, not where they appeared to be!

Our first Mirage!
OTL said that you can see some strange sights looking off shore, 'Mmmm' says Holly, we've seen some strange sights sitting on the beach!

Then OTL said that he had found a small flying saucer! A real UFO! Well we wanted to see it and as we looked at it, we realised that it was really a snail stuck up the top of a plant!

Silly OTL!

Take me to your leader!
On the way back, Holly spotted a couple of rabbits that were just the right size for a good stew, so off she went, doing her 'Chasing Rabbits Howl' but when she got too close the rabbits just disappeared into the bush, again!

Here Bunny Wunny!
Holly said it was most frustrating, doing all that running and still not get a rabbit. So, I said I would give her a hand looking for the rabbits, unfortunately, we couldn't find any.

You know, says Holly, could those rabbits be mirages and really be in Southend on Sea across the water?

Rabbit Mirage?
After our lunchtime walk the men came to take away the little car away to be mended, I suppose now that it has gone, we will have to do our walking over The Fields, but that won't be too bad 'cos there is always new sniffs over there!

Mind you, as the fields are full of wheat type stuff, we don't reckon we will see too many bumblebees!

AND, you won't find anyone there with Nibbles!

Go On, Gissa Nibble?
We didn't get any nibbles, but it was worth a try!

This afternoon we spent having our 'Afternoon Snooze' while watching the horses dancing around the arena.

We can sniff that OTL will be having curry tonight, so we will be doing some serious mugging!

Tomorrow we will start to pack the caravan ready for the 'Off' on Thursday, plus, we have one delivery to do for one of OTL's customer who just has to leave every thing to the last moment!

Bye bye for now, see you tomorrow!

Daisy & Holly

Daisy & Holly in Jail!

Hello Woofers!

It's us, Daisy & Holly back with you!

We have had a very scary day today. After our run down on The Sea Wall, we headed off to the Poodle Parlour for our 'Shampoo & Set' but when we got there there was this big Staffy sitting there in reception with patches of blood all over the floor around her! Well, we thought she may have had a fight or eaten a poodle, or two, and she might just fancy us as afters!

So, we kept right back behind Old Two Legs, just in case!

Then we noticed she was looking all scared and shaking, finally the story came out, the blood was from an scratch she had got chasing cats, the reason she was here was because she was going to be boarded for a couple of weeks while her owners went on holiday!

Mind you, it didn't help having a four legged rug next to us, howling the place down,  because he didn't want to stay in the kennels while his owners went away as well.

It was all 'Doom & Despondency', Holly and I were not very happy!

Then we were called forward and OTL said 'Hair cut with Shampoo & Set plus their nails trimmed please', we both went Pheeeeew!

It was very busy and instead of being put in our normal cage, we were put outside in a 'Run' a sort of longish cage with a small hut up one end and a single bowl of water. All around us there were dogs howling and crying and woofing and whining.

It was so sad to hear them all! Most of them we spoke to were here while their owners went away on holiday and they Hated It!

They said that they missed their owners and were miserable 'cos they were afraid that they would leave them there for the rest of their lives!

I tell you, it was worse than loosing your tail to a cat!

It took a long time before we were called in for our haircut and bath, in fact it was so long that I began to get worried that Holly and I would have to stay here while OTL and The Missus went on holiday without us!

Holly said that OTL wouldn't do that 'cos he loves us and also, how would he wake up in the morning without us giving him a good lick on his nose and in his ear!

Late in the afternoon we were finished, all washed brushed hair cut, nails trimmed and looking like a million dog biscuits!

We were sitting in our 'Cage' when we heard OTL outside in the office crying, he had just paid the lady for our hair cut. He always cries when he has to do that!

Then the door opened and there he was, wiping the tears from his nose with his sleeve.

'Hello Girlie's' he said as we rushed across the office and into his arms and licking his nose and ears all at the same time!

'Let's get outta here!' says Holly and we headed for the door and freedom, dragging OTL behind us!

OTL took us down to the New Park, for a good run around and a chase of the ball, but he didn't take us to the Swimming Hole!

Spoil Sport!

Mind you, looking at the clouds that were heading our way we could have got soaking wet if we had been caught by it!

There's a Storm Coming in!
We sat for a while in the Tee Pee just in case the Indians came back but it started to rain, so we ran for the car!

Come on, let's get back to the car!
Back home it was a super 'Hello' to TM then straight into our food bowl, tails up and nose down until it had all gone! Chicken and Biscuits, super!

Then upstairs for a snooze until OTL has his dinner, then we mug him!

So, a happy ending to a stormy day and are we glad to get out of that prison!

Bye bye for now.

Sunday with a little rain!

Hi Ho Woofers!

Daisy & Holly back with you again!

This morning I decided to wake Old Two Legs up with a lick on his ear, well I fancied a wee!

So up on the bed I jumped, wrapped myself around his head and commenced to clean his ear for him!

Now OTL is not the quickest Two Legs around, but when I began to nibble his ear with my teeth, he woke up and asked what the time was, very quickly!

So, at four fifteen this morning, there was OTL bouncing off the stairs wall with Holly and me following him for a wee in the garden, that's us, not OTL!

The plan for today is for OTL to wash the big car for the last time, ready for the start of the holiday, but when we went for our morning walk along The Sea Front, the clouds and the rain were beginning to crowd over our heads, so the planned car wash was put off until Monday!

We were discussing the change of plans when we saw him!

Riding his bike along the Sea Wall, our Sea Wall!

Holly said we should stop him riding his bike along the sea wall, just for fun!

So we did!

Let's Get Him
He thought it was funny as well as Holly and I stood still in front of him and said ' This is a Stick Up, hand over your sandwiches!'

Trouble was, he didn't have any, so we had to let him go!

Another Gate Keeper Butterfly
OTL was busy trying to photograph a Gate Keeper but the wind was blowing too much!

Lunchtime came and we were down the Sea Wall again but this time we sneaked up on a fisherman who was trying to have a snooze.

Holly stood behind him and did one of her BIG WOOFS!

Poor man, nearly jumped out of his skin!

Got any Food Mister?
Then I went up to him and told him to hand over his sandwiches but he didn't have any!

This was just not our day!

Shall We?
In the distance we spotted a Labrador having a swim and his owner was throwing a stick into the water for him. Holly said we should run down there and pinch his stick and run away!

I don't think we will bother!
When we got there, the dog was too big and he was too far out into the water to get the stick, so we left him to it!

We looked out to sea and saw that we could see the Shivering Sands Forts and also the wreak of the Richard Montgomery!

Keep Clear!
Then we heard this sound of two engines at full rev's, we didn't know what it was for a moment, then all of a sudden these two Sea Scooter Boat Things came flying past. OTL said they were having a race. Holly said they should be a bit quieter about it 'cos they were making too much noise!

Noisy!
Then OTL spotted a Six Spot Burnet Butterfly on a thistle and had fun trying to keep focus 'cos the wind was blowing again!

Just Too Windy!
On our way home OTL stopped the car outside a house we pass every day and jumped out of the car carrying his camera.

He wanted to take some pictures of these giant Thistle plants!

Giant Thistle.
I mean, these thistles were enormous, like gigantic Thistles!

Gigantic!
The man who owned the house where these thistles were growing was doing some
gardening and he came over to OTL to find out what OTL was doing, he told OTL that the plants were called Jerusalem Artichokes!

Jerusalem Artichokes
OTL says that you can eat them and they taste a bit like Asparagus but I'll take his word for it, as Holly says, if it don't taste like chicken, then it ain't worth eating!

You Two Legs do eat some of the strangest things sometimes!

See you tomorrow, we are starting to select out outfits to take away. Now, do I go for my red collar or the black one or maybe the sparkly one?

Decisions, Decisions!

Maybe we will wait until after our 'Shampoo and Set' that we are booked in for tomorrow morning!

Bye for now!

Luv,

Daisy & Holly

A Snail with Attitude and then we get left on our own!

Hello Woofers!

Daisy & Holly back with you.

The Missus was up early this morning, catching up on the vacuum cleaning, so, there we were at five thirty, covering our ears trying to block that terrible sound!

Old Two Legs had his head under the pillow and he wouldn't let us get under there with him!

That early call meant that we were out early for a walk along The Sea Wall. We met up with one of OTL's fans!

Hello OTL!
You know it can get embarrassing sometimes the way these dogs just Love OTL!

Do you remember that picture to other day, with the tide so far in you couldn't see the wooden posts?

Well look at it today with the tide out, amazing just how far up the beach it comes!

There it is.........gone!
Further along the wall we came across a small snail racing to get back to the grass, well, racing as far as a snail can race!

'Here' we said wot's the hurry?

The snail looked around at us and told us to 'clear off out of his way before we got trodden on'!

Oooooo! Said Holly we don't like your attitude, maybe we should give you to the fishermen to teach you to swim! But we didn't!

Gerroffoutamyway!
Holly thought it was great fun and decided to do the same with a whelk we found a few feet further on along the path.

Oi! Shouted Holly to the whelk but it was no good, he was either out shopping or fast asleep!

Anyone at home?
At lunch time we went back to The Sea Wall and this time the tide was right in again, but not as far up the beach, but that didn't stop me, I was straight in for a swim. It was super diving in and out, I even saw a monster in the water and woofed at it to go away before I bit it!

It was a bit slow, but it didn't come any further!

Watch it! I've got sharp Teeth!

This afternoon, OTL and TM went off without taking us along as well! It wasn't until they came back that we realised that maybe it was a good idea!

You see, they went off to a party to celebrate Adam & Katie getting engaged to be married!

Adam & Katie cutting the cake!
You see, at the party were three big dogs, there was Dobby the Labrador and then there was Gadget the Staffy and finally Gizmo the Doberman!

I think it was safer for us at home! Auntie Shelia came to see us and after a good lick from us, she let us out into the garden for a wee!

OTL told us that just before they got to the party, young Ethan decided to try out for the Olympic Diving Team and did a Swan Dive into the pond in the garden! No harm done 'cos Daddy Paul was straight in and pulled him out!

Mummy Zoe was a little put out with young Ethan's tricks and got all confused when she gave Megan her feed, she stuck the feed bottle into Megan's mouth and Megan's dummy into her own!
I'm Confused!
And she doesn't even drink!

It was good when OTL and TM came back, we settled down for a cuddle and a nibble before dinner!

See you tomorrow, we've got the last of the car cleaning then OTL has a look at his packing list!

Daisy & Holly

Busy Busy Busy and a Bump!

Hi Woofers!

Daisy & Holly here at the end of another hectic day!

We were out down The Sea Wall and bumped into a Wormy Man who was off to work!

Bye Bye Wormy Man!

Old Two Legs spotted a Four Spot Chaser and got this picture, not bad for a beginner!

A Four Spot Chaser hunting Food!
At this rate he may even get to be 'Not Bad'!

Back home to Lambs Heart and Liver. Full tummies and a snooze while OTL crept out of the house for another one of his 'Meetings'!

Lunch time we went down to The Forest, you know, we couldn't find the Highland Cattle at all. Holly said they were hiding behind a tree or a bush and may jump out and shout 'Boo' if we didn't keep out eyes open!

I kept a look out but never saw them at all!

OTL spotted some Bracket Fungi on a log, sort of shining in the sunlight that filtered through the green canopy of leaves, aaaaaaaah!

Even I said it was a bit early for fungi but I suppose that all that rain must have some effect on the fungi!

Hapalopilus nidulans
Now OTL is showing off in a serious way here 'cos he purchased the 'Collins Fungi Guide', which is a super book of fungi with pictures and descriptions and Latin names. No English names, just Latin. So you can imaging OTL trying to get his tongue around some of the names, Holly and I were rolling on our backs and laughing our tails off!

Back home OTL finished off the last bit of stuff and packed it all up to take to the carrier. On the way down there, we were driving around a roundabout when a car ran into the side of us!

Luckily, Holly and I were snoozing on the back seat so we were not hurt, just surprised at the bump and the noise!

OTL had to give us both a cuddle to stop us worrying!

Yesterday the car was serviced and MOT'd and had a new set of wheel trims put on the car.

Today we have two very badly chewed up wheel trims and a very dented car!

We are hoping that the menders can get it repaired while we are away, so that's another job OTL has to get done before we go away!

Tomorrow we are washing the car, vacuuming all the dust and grass from inside the car and then we will sit down with our lists to check we have everything packed.

The Missus enjoys a paddle in the sea when we are away but we are not too sure about her insistence on wearing wellies, well, at least OTL takes his boots off!

See you tomorrow!

Daisy & Holly

It's getting closer!

Hi Woofers!

Daisy & Holly here!

Another sunny day, we just love these Summer Days! Holly has spent a lot of time just chilling out beside the pond. I have been helping Old Two Legs with his paperwork. You see just when he has a big pile of paper spread all over his desk, I jump up onto his lap and then onto the desk and collapse onto the paperwork, roll over onto my back and have a good wriggle around!

I really don't know why he gets all 'Grumbly' when I do that, I mean, it's for his own good!

This mornings walk along The Sea Wall was good. We met up with a fisherman who was sitting there waiting for the tide to come in.

Oi! Got and food Mr Fisherman?
We did the old 'Got any food Mister' bit but he had eaten his breakfast at home and on top of that, wasn't getting his sandwiches out until lunch time!

As we wandered down the sea wall OTL spotted a rather dull looking Gatekeeper Butterfly, thinking it may be some sort of new butterfly he took a picture, just before it flew off and on closer inspection when we got home, he decided it was a Dull looking Gatekeeper!

Dull or Wot!
Lunch time we went back to The Sea Wall 'cos the tide was right in and it was in so far, you could hardly see the breakwater!

OK, Who's nicked the Posts?
We saw a fisherman who was getting all excited about his worm swimming, he kept on calling out, 'Swim Worm, Swim!'

Swimming Worm!
I thought that it was a good idea to have a swim, so I called out to OTL 'Can I Go in for a Swim? He said that it would be too deep and I had to stay out.

Can I go In?
So I went in!
I managed to have a bit of a splash about, got myself wet almost all over! OTL said that if I got swept out to sea he was going to leave me and take Holly home and feed her on all of the chicken fillets in the cupboard!

That was it, I was out like a shot and warned Holly about the chicken fillets!

Holly didn't know what I was talking about 'cos she had been off sniffin some fox poo that OTL wouldn't let her roll in!

After I got out, OTL went into photo mode and was clicking away at a Buff Tailed Bumblebee who was getting stuck into some pollen!

I just LOVE Pollen!
We had to go and pick up the little car this afternoon, after it had been serviced and got a new MOT. OTL said it was something like our Shampoo & Set but it would last all year, unlike our haircut!

OTL has got curry tonight, so we have Nan Bread dipped into the curry juice to look forward to when we mug him! Holly just loves curry, me, a little bit goes a long way, if you know what I mean!

Who has been counting the medals today? I think we have done well but we will wait until later this evening for a count up!

It's getting closer! Our Holiday I mean, we have started to pack all our stuff and The Missus has said she will wash our bedding 'cos it smells 'Doggy'!

Really, I just don't know where she gets these ideas from!

See you tomorrow!

Daisy & Holly

We get Gold!

Hi Woofers!

Daisy & Holly here!

What a wonderful day, we are getting 'Gold' at the Olympics, well done Bradley Wiggins on his bike and Helen Glover and Heather Stanning in the women's pair rowing race!

Ho Ho to the eight badminton players that have been disqualified, that'll teach them!

We were up good and early this morning so we could get out for our walk before the rain started. Old Two Legs didn't seem to appreciate our planning and stayed in bed for an extra fifteen minutes and so, by the time we were all ready, it was pouring down!

Luckily enough by the time we got down to The Sea Wall, it had stopped! Which was good for the fishermen who were unpacking all their gear to get ready.

OTL found what he thinks is a Two Spot Dragonfly, which is a bit rare! He also said that it may be a young four spot!

A Two Spot Dragonfly?
Then we found a 'Pretend Dragonfly' OTL spotted it first and laughed then he pointed it out to us, it looked funny hanging there going 'Buzz Buzz'!

A Curly Dragonfly?
Holly and I were having fun running along the sea wall woofing at all the gulls. Back home for breakfast and a snooze before our lunch time walk.

When we got down to the beach we found a rock with some sort of plastic things on it. Now we know the rock is not normally there, so it's been brought up from somewhere.

We had a look at it and OTL said it was interesting to have the coloured things on the grey rock, so, he just had to take a picture!

Rock n Plastic!
Then he took another and called it 'Stranger on the Beach'

'Stranger on the Beach' Rock On!
Holly and I then had a game called 'Bradley Wiggins' and we pretended to be on bicycles and racing along the sea wall!

Wiggy Wunning the Wall!
Back home OTL is still working getting the 'Decks Cleared' before the holiday. He has been busy manufacturing stuff and making a load of noise! Holly and I had to leave him alone 'cos he was making so much noise we couldn't have our afternoon snoozette!

Tonight we managed to mug him for a little bit of his home made meat balls, The Missus makes then in batches of twenty kilos and freezes them in meal size portions that have to include a nibble for us!

Tonight it is the swimming, so fingers crossed for some success for our team!

See you tomorrow.

Daisy & Holly

It's a Three Walk Day!

Hello Woofers!

Daisy & Holly back again.

We have been very busy today, loads of watching the Olympics on the TV and trying to convince Holly to have a swim in the pond!

I did suggest that as she is not too keen on swimming, she could try diving into the pond from the rocks on the side of the pond!

I won't tell you what Holly said 'cos it was rude!

We went down The Sea Wall  and met up with Mrs Corvid, she said she was keeping an eye out for a nice juicy whelk for breakfast. We said we would keep our eyes open and let her know if we see one, we didn't find a whelk but we did find some fox poo but Old Two Legs stopped us before we could have a roll, spoil sport!

Looking for a Whelky Breakfast!
We did find some fishermen and before Holly could say anything, both fishermen said 'No We Haven't!'

Seems they remember Holly from the last time!

No We Haven't!
We wandered off to the next set of rods but in the bucket there were only worms, not bad to roll over but they don't taste nice!

Just Worms!
At lunch time there were a couple of little Terriers we had met before, one was called Poppy but we were not sure what the other one was called 'cos every time we asked what her name was all she did was bark!

Both of them were all over OTL and Poppy gave him a lick on the nose as well!

Poppy!
So, as a special treat, OTL took their pictures!

Noisy Woofer!
After that OTL was off chasing insects and flowers. Flowers are OK but the insects kept of flying away every time he got close!

A Seed Pod!
The only insect to sit still was this Common Wasp, but the plant kept of waving about in the wind!

Common Wasp
For those interested in the boring stuff OTL seems mostly to use a Nikon D200 camera and his favourite lens for our walks is a 24-300mm zoom lens. The setting is either Cloudy (mostly) or Sunny (Rarely) or Shadow (When we are in the woods). The mode is always Aperture Mode and the aperture is always on f5.4, unless it is very sunny.

The lens has a VR setting to help prevent anti vibration and it has manual over ride on focusing for when he is in amongst the trees!

The ISO is always set at 200!

OK, that is the boring stuff, OTL has got some other super duper Nikon camera bodies and lenses but he says that although he is an 'Equipment Junky', you can take super pictures with just a simple 'Point & Shoot' camera.

Hang on, I've got to wake Holly up, she has just fallen asleep while I was typing that lot!

As we will be going on holiday soon, OTL's customers have been 'stocking up' on stuff they will need. That means OTL is having to do two weeks work this week plus what he normally does!

So, we were off down the carrier again this afternoon and then delivered some stuff close to the Riverside Park, so you know where we ended up!

OTL brought both balls for a kick and a chase, we didn't stay too long but it was still good to have a run in the field looking for different sniffs!

Home to mug OTL for some dinner and then curl up for a snooze before bed!

See you tomorrow!

Luv,

Daisy & Holly

What happened to Monday?

Hi Woofers!

Daisy & Holly here.

Well, as you can see, we have got forgotten today. Old Two Legs has been in 'Meetings' all day today, getting things 'Sorted' before our holiday. He likes to get all the paperwork sorted, bills paid and the Tax Return sent off. All this so he can go on holiday with a 'Clear Conscience!'

Yeah, that's what we said as well!

We had a run down at the Riverside Park but OTL didn't take his camera with him 'cos he forgot! He was too busy talking to his Accountant to remember the camera, in fact, we consider ourselves lucky he remembered us!

The Missus took us out first thing this morning, across The Farm fields, a few new sniffs to report but nothing too exciting!

We got back to some Lambs Heart, but you know, it was just too hot to eat it, so we'll save it for tonight!

After the Riverside Park walk we headed up to one of our favourite shops. OTL calls it Pets R Us but that's not it's real name!

The sniffs in there are terrific, there's all the 'Nibbles' like Pigs Ear and BBQ Sausage and Chicken Fillets and Raw Hide Chews and Biscuits by the ton and in so many flavours we couldn't count them all!

We passed the enclosure where they keep all the Rabbits and Guinea Pigs and Gerbils and hairy stuff like that. Holly walked past saying 'I'll have one of those roasted followed by two of them boiled into a stew and two of those to follow, cooked crispy and with some black pepper dusted over the ends.

She sure does know about cooking!

We came out with a load of stuff, most of it would be treats when we are on holiday but OTL did open up one pack of BBQ sausage and Holly and I took turns in biting off a bit while OTL held it for us.

How he didn't loose his fingers I'll never know 'cos Holly and I don't have any table manners where a BBQ Sausage is concerned!

OTL also purchased a 'Dog Whistle', yeah, he thinks he is going to train us to Come Bye and all that stuff? No chance!

He did blow it a couple of times at home, sounded like a steam engine under full pressure!'

Holly and I ran around barking  'cos we thought it was a monster got into the house without us seeing!

Finally we found OTL upstairs with this whistle, so we mugged him for a nibble of his biscuit before falling asleep on his bed!

So, sorry about the lack of pictures, we will try to make it up to you tomorrow!

Luv,

Daisy & Holly
