We're in The Naughty Corner, Again!

Hi Woofers!

McDaisy & Mac Holly (Specialist Rabbit Hunters) here!

We started off this morning with our normal run on our Private Beach, Holly and I had a chase around woofing at the Nelly Fish that had landed overnight! Holly was doing her trick of heading a lump of seaweed she had tossed into the air shouting her famous cry of, 'On Me Head Sunshine!'

On Me 'Ead!
There was a duck thing sitting on the rocks and Old Two Legs and another caravanner were wondering what it was, OTL was sneaking forward over the rocks to try to get a picture, so we both did our Big Woof and the duck flew off before OTL could get a proper picture!

Eider?
In the end, everyone decided it was a young Eider duck in Eclipse, or changing plumage!

Off we went for our adventure and first of all OTL stopped in Port Charlotte and unloaded his super duper camera and commenced to take pictures of the lighthouse across the harbour.

Lighthouse.
We were locked up inside the car 'cos OTL said that we would be running all over the place and into the road, which would not be a good idea and could end up with us being hurt!

After that we went down the road to our beach and had a run, problem was, OTL kept us on our leads! He reckons we would run off the beach across the road and into the bracken to chase rabbits!

As if we would!

A Restricted Swim!
Next it was off to a new place, it was a super beach with no one on it, the beach had been fenced off to keep the sheep from poo'ing on the sand!

So, OTL let us off our leads thinking we would go and have a paddle in the waves.

No way! Holly and I soon discovered some rabbit holes in the dunes and we were both into them, right up to our tail end!

OTL was not a Happy Puppy and grabbed me from behind and dragged me out of the hole, put a lead on me and called for Holly!

Holly was also into a hole, up to her tail end but she heard OTL and backed out, then, seeing me on the lead decided that chasing rabbits was more fun than paddling! So, she took off further down the beach where there were more rabbit holes, on the way she noticed a gate that had not been secured properly, and shot through that into the field where there were loads and loads of rabbits running about having a morning game!

That was it, OTL started off after Holly, Holly started off after the Bunnies and I was tied up to the fence post!

In the end Holly got captured, thrown onto OTL's shoulder and marched back to the place where I was tied up!

The beach was great and we had loads of fun, but we were clipped onto the lead and not let off!

Well, It's Your Fault!

There was miles of beach with rabbit holes all the way around!

Jus' Look at The Rabbit Holes!
As Holly says Ooooo! Rabbit Holes!
A Sheep Stopper?

We were restricted to the lead for the rest of the day, you know, we even had to get through a Sheep Stopper while yoked together!

So, off to the next beach, now this one was super duper and a bit more!

The beach was wide, the sand was soft, the rabbit holes were everywhere!

We were kept on the lead!

All this And Rabbits!
Off we went again and this time OTL found an old church and grave yard to photograph. He made us stay in the car saying that with our record of digging he was not going to risk us leaving the graveyard with a bit of some ones Granny!

While he was in there, a rainbow started to grow across the other side of the inland loch, even Holly said that it would make a good picture!

Start of a rainbow!
When we got back we stopped off at the local beach for a stroll, it had to be a stroll 'cos we were still restricted to the lead!

This is one of the pictures OTL took, sort of Sand, Sea and Rocks!

Beach Sand & Rocks
Back to the caravan for some wonderful meat dinner, you see, The Missus wanted to give us a change from chicken, (Why?) so she got OTL to buy some stewing steak, but, The Missus picked up a pack of meat from the stewing steak section that really was Rump Steak some one had tossed into the wrong tray.

So, we had a brilliant meal tonight, and, we got enough left over for another meal of Rump Steak before we go home!

Do we live well or wot!

Bye bye for now.

See you tomorrow!

More Rabbits!

Hi Woofers!

McDaisy & Mac Holly here!

One of the best things about our holiday here on the Isle of Islay, besides the rabbits and the fresh air and the chicken dinners and the walks is our 'Early Morning Dip'.

The Missus takes us out first thing for a quick wee, then it's back to bed for a snooze with Old Two Legs. After OTL has got up and showered he takes us for our 'Second Morning Walk' down on our private beach.

Now, providing it is not raining we always have a run around the beach, dig a few holes, have a roll in some smelly stuff then go in for a dip!

A Smelly Roll!
Sometimes it is a 'Solo Roll' and sometimes we share the roll and digging!

Sharing a Roll with Sis!
Holly doesn't go for the full dip but rather a paddle until her tummy gets wet! Me, I'm in there up to my shoulder blades and chasing the ball or a stick that OTL has thrown!

Holly with a Wet Tum!

When OTL finds a stick I can really get going with swimming and stick chasing!

Here's Daisy!

It was then that Holly spotted a Common Seal having a look at us from out in the bay, OTL sneaked over the rocks to get this picture, pity the sun was in the wrong position!

Common Seal Off Our Beach!
Back at the caravan it is a good rub down with the towel ready for a day out hunting rabbit!

Today we were joined by TM and we stopped at our favourite beach with all the gorse bushes where the rabbits hide. We seem to have given up on the beach thing, I mean, ball chasing and digging holes we can do on our own private beach but rabbit chasing is something Holly and I have really got into since we have been on holiday!

The Chase is On!
The gorse bushes hide the rabbit holes and Holly and I chase the rabbits from one gorse bush to another, it's great fun, no time for digging holes in the sand, too busy digging rabbit holes!

Holly Standing Guard while I dig out a rabbit!
Of course, just as we were leaving to go searching for Golden Eagles, there, sitting on the side of the path, looking all cool and laid back was one of those Bunnies!

Bunny Wunny having a Breather!
Next time mate, next time!

We did spot an eagle and OTL & TM spent some time out of the car watching it circle the area. I did hear OTL suggest that he got one of us out and tie us up to a fence post so the eagle would think we were a rabbit just big enough for dinner!

TM said that was not a good idea, Holly and I agreed!
We stopped at Bowmore and they went off for some lunch but came back with a couple of vanilla flavoured ice cream cones, now do you think we would let them eat the cones on their own?

No way!

Holly has got an enormous tongue and soon put it to good use, nicking OTL's share of the cone!

The harbour was pretty, OTL took us for a walk on the beach bit and while we had a wee, he took this picture!

Bowmore Harbour
Pretty but not award winning!

Now, he took this one early this morning.

Artistic Rubbish from OTL!
That could be award winning, well maybe not, depends if it is your type of picture, me, I prefer Bunny’s!

Off to mug OTL for some shortbread, see you tomorrow!

Bye bye for now.

We are in the Naught Corner!

Hi Woofers!

McDaisy & Mac Holly here!

Today, we were off with Old Two Legs on our own as The Missus wanted to watch some card making program on the TV! She doesn't really like splashing around in the surf like we do!

We left the camp site and woofed at a couple of German Shepherd dogs, they were from Germany, so we reckon they should be called German German Shepherd Dogs, I suppose that is a bit like the Not Nots!

Off we went with OTL down to our local big beach, as soon as OTL had the car stopped and the door open we were off!

Straight after the rabbits!

OTL was not a 'Happy Bunny' 'cos we went onto the road and got honked at by a couple of cars, so we were 'in the naughty corner' and we got confined to the lead for the rest of the walk!

In the naughty corner!
After that we were off to Port Ellen and then up the road to a distillery, one of OTL's favourite places!

Unfortunately, we were not allowed inside, so we had to sit in the car and woof at all the tourist going by!

A bit further up the road we got to that beach we had stopped at a few days ago!

OTL thought it was safe here 'cos the road ended just a hundred yards away and there was no one else around. So, he opened the door and out we flew, not to the beach but to the bracken and gorse bushes to find...........................Rabbits!

It's OK but where are the rabbits!
OTL was not a 'Happy Bunny' again! After all that beach spread out before us and crystal clear sea lapping gently on the sand, where were we?

Up to our tails in boggy water and mud looking for rabbits!

OTL finally caught up with us and we were 'In The Naughty Corner' again!

You know he threw the ball in the sea so I would chase it but he kept us both on the lead so I would drag Holly in with me! That way, we both got a wash so we didn't pong so much and the mud was washed off our legs!

Back to the car for a towel down and inspection for ticks!

We then sat in the car, using it for a hide so that we could look at the eagles over the hills. Trouble was, the eagles had stayed in bed and Holly and me fell asleep with the boredom!

Off we went, back to the caravan where TM was still playing with her stamps and ink, so we had to be good puppies while OTL was talking to one of his customers, but only on the promise that we could go out on the football field for a run after!

Doggy Scoff tonight but not to worry, we know OTL and TM have got steak and of course we will help them eat it!

See you tomorrow!

Bye bye for now.

Ticks, Otters, Orca & Another Distillery!

Hi Woofers!

McDaisy & Mac Holly here!

After yesterdays fun and frolicking we were watching a Harry Potter film, not sure which one but we fell asleep leaving Old Two Legs to watch in on his own.

I was all cuddled up next to him and he was gently brushing my fur all along my head and back.

About nine thirty he stopped but kept his finger on a spot just above my eyes.

Oh No!

It was a Tick!

Now I know I had been feeling a bit sore there during the afternoon but thought it may have been a scratch.

Off he went and got his Tick Tools out, I was getting worried. Then he sat me down next to him, I was getting very worried. Then he started to part my fur on the sore spot and started to descend with his Tick Tool towards my head!

To cut a very long tale short, it took two and a half hours for me to let him get the tick out!

In the end he got it out and we then OTL and me had a cuddle 'cos we were both totally exhausted!

All that over a carnivorous spider!

Today we got up late, we were both still a little upset about last night, so we had another cuddle, just to make it all right!

We were getting ready to go out to search for Orca down near Port Askiag. OTL had heard that Orca had been spotted in the Sound!9

We were looking out to sea from the caravan when OTL said OTTER!

The Otter, scared off by a Heron!
There, with it's head sticking out of the water was an Otter, then, with a quick turn of its tail it dived under the waves.

Well, we stood watching for some time but it never came back, so, that's our Otter Spotting for this holiday!

Down at Port Askiag we parked the car and stated to walk up the hill to the path from where we could spot any Orca in the Sound but The Missus started to complain about walking, so, OTL said, 'How about we go over to Jura?'

TM said 'Mmmmm' which translated means 'No Thanks', then OTL said 'We could have lunch in the hotel'...........................TM's eyes lit up!
So, there we were bouncing along in a ferry heading over to Jura, now what we haven't told you is, there is a distillery on Jura, just across the road from the hotel!

Sneaky OTL or wot?

We got to Craighouse where the hotel was and OTL spotted there was a beach a bit further up the road so, just to keep Holly and I happy, off we went.

Come on, throw the ball!
It was great, we were running all along the beach and I was in and out of the sea chasing the ball OTL was throwing for us. Holly just got her paws wet but because the water was shallow, I was running further and further out to get the ball!

A Salty Sea Dog!
It was good splashing through the water making it all splash over my head and back!

Me, Body Surfing!
OTL had to stop me in the end 'cos I was getting a little shivery!

A good rub down with our 'Doggy Towels' and we were right as rain!

TM got her lunch of venison and OTL sneaked across the road for a bottle or two and some whisky glasses!

While were were on Jura we spotted some Red Dear on the hillside but they had seen us and were all looking towards us, even though we were about half a mile away!

On the way to the hotel, OTL spotted a picturesque old bridge and said he would like to photograph it on the way back, so we stopped and while he was playing with his camera, we were having a walk with TM.

Pretty but Dangerous!
All finished we got back in the car. TM squealed 'Ticks!'

Then she pointed out two ticks on me!

Here be more ticks!
I don't know why they pick on me but they do, Holly gets off with no Ticks but I get two!

OTL sorted them, picked them off and threw them out of the window, sort of 'Get off and Walk!'

Ticks to the Left, Ticks to the right!
Back to the caravan where we had a good meal of chicken and biscuits and a cuddle with OTL until it was 'Mugging Time'!

Tomorrow we are out with OTL, not sure where we will be going but you can be sure we will get inspected for ticks before getting home!

Bye bye for now.

Us doing serious Rabbit Hunting!

Hi Woofers!

McDaisy & Mac Holly here!

Today we have been hunting!

Not the normal rabbits or foxes or sneaky squirrels. Today it is Otters!

We keep seeing these notices talking about Red Deer and Roe Deer and Otters but so far they have been hiding from us.

We started down on the south of the island but only saw Buzzards and loads of 'Little Brown Jobs' that were flitting around.

Boring Buzzard!
So, just for a break, we went to the beach for a quick wee and a run around.

When we got there, all the cattle herd had decided to spend the day on the beach!

A Cow Beach Party!
Old Two Legs took us right down the other end of the beach, well away from the cattle so we could have fun looking for rabbits. Well, we found some and proceeded to chase them all over the place, in the gorse bushes and into their rabbit holes. I was getting all excited trying to dig them out, Holly was helping but keeping guard at the other holes, just in case they tried to sneak out!

Otter or Rabbit?
OTL noticed that the cattle had now arrived at his car and were starting to surround it, looking for a place to lean up against for a good scratch!

OK OTL, You're Surrounded!
Off he went, leaving me digging for rabbits, Holly was undecided what to do, so she followed OTL back to the car then had second thoughts, so she sat down half way between OTL and me, just to keep an eye on both OTL and me!

Back came OTL with the car, I hadn't moved from the hole and was getting a bit frantic digging my way through Islay!

OTL called us 'cos the cattle were heading our way again but we kept digging. So, over he came and lifted both Holly and me up and tucked us underneath his arms and marched back to the car, just before the cattle arrived!

That was it, OTL drove off and headed towards the Airport Beach, at least there are only sheep down there and they keep out of our way!

OTL started to photograph the waves and Holly and I said we were off to look for otters, down some of the rabbit holes!

Looking for Otters?
Well, OTL decided that the waves were not big enough yet to make a good photograph, so he came looking for us.

We had found some rabbit holes that were enormous, I mean, Huge!

So, me, being all brave and fearless went head first down the hole, OTL found out what hole I was in 'cos Holly was standing outside woofing, then OTL started woofing at me to come out!

I turned around in the hole and came back to see what all the fuss was about and OTL grabbed me by the collar and hauled me out of the hole!

I was then clipped onto the lead and that was the end of my Rabbit Hunt even though I promised OTL that I had seen an Otter go down the hole!

Well after all that we headed back to the caravan, the long way around and we saw a Golden Eagle and loads of Buzzards, but no rabbits!

There is always tomorrow!

Late news, OTL reckons that Orca have been sighted down near the ferry, so guess where we are heading off to tomorrow!

See you soon!

OTL gets to a Distillery or Two!

Hi Woofers!

McDaisy & Mac Holly here!

You can tell it's Scotland, we were once told that if you don't like the weather where you are, just hang about for an hour or so and it'll change!

You know, it's right!

Here comes the Sun!

We got up to a cloudy start, went out for our morning wee and came back to wake Old Two Legs up!

After breakfast OTL gets his coat on and outs us on the lead and opens the caravan door, it was a gale blowing with the obligatory horizontal rain!

Well, we got as far as the car and decided we could hold on a bit longer!

Off we went, Holly, OTL, The Missus and me, driving along the road, heading off for an adventure up the north of the island.

OTL had a surprise for us, we stopped at the big beach where we had been chasing rabbits, well, we had a super run along the beach, in bright sun shine!
Us and TM in the sun shine!

Even TM got out of the car for a run on the beach, it was that good!

Next it was off to Port Askiag and down to Caol Ila, the first distillery of the day.

Well OTL likes Caol Ila and when he saw the distillery he said he now knows why it's such a smooth malt whisky!

Caol Ila
It was beautiful, so to mark the occasion, he purchased two bottles of whisky!

Next we went off to the Bunnahabhain Distillery which was down a long single track road and when we got there, it was closed! Now that upset OTL, he was almost crying, until TM said he could come back another day, then he cheered up!

We'll Be Back!
Now, leading from this distillery, there was a road, a road that had no tarmac, just tracks for tyres and it went around in a big circle to join up with a road again. So, OTL being OTL, decided it would be an adventure to drive along the track.

Off we went, bumping along the track, we were thrown from side to side and up and down and things were going 'Thud' underneath the floor!

Us and The Paps of Jura
OTL was grinning from ear to ear, The Missus was not, you could tell she was not enjoying it in the slightest and she let OTL know!

So after a mile or so we turned the car around and headed back, splashing through the mud and ruts of the track and again OTL was grinning all over his face!

The Beginning!
When we got back onto tarmac roads again we headed off to Bowmore to do some shopping which only took five minutes and then back to our beach again!

This time the tide was almost in and I had a super time chasing the ball into the sea after OTL had thrown it in.

Because it was so shallow, I could run for ages before the water got above my tummy and it took ages for it to get too deep for paddling!

Me, Miles Out to Sea!
Even Holly got her paws wet running after the ball, but not too wet, you know what Holly thinks of water!

Back to the caravan for chicken dinner followed by a snooze before bed.

By the way, OTL & The Missus had a super meal at the hotel restaurant, TM got a Lobster and OTL said he got a bit of cow!

Tomorrow we are off otter hunting again!

Bye bye for now!

Serious Rabbit Hunting!

Yo Ho Woofers!

It's us again, McDaisy & Mac Holly!

Have we had some fun today!

First of all it's The Missus & Old Two Legs wedding anniversary today, they have been married twenty five years today. They got married in Gretna Green and we plan to stop there on the way home just so OTL can ask if he can have his money back!

We were up early, all ready for our morning walk and TM took us for our early morning 'Wee Walk' which was OK 'cos it's not raining. However, when OTL took us out, we got as far as the gate and it poured down! OTL was walking down the path in his own little world, all wrapped up against the weather and there was us getting wet!

It's Too Wet for a Walk!

A quick woof sorted him out and as soon as he opened the gate we were off like rockets back to the van!

Well, after a while we were bored and told OTL to make it stop raining!

I'm a Bored, Damp little Doggy!
You know what, after a while it did, so off we went again and this time we had our game on the beach, getting just our feet and tummies wet!

It was good trying to find the rabbits that hide on the beach, but we didn't see any!

I can sniff them, I'm sure they are here!
Holly was playing at being a sailor again and kept calling out 'I see no Ships!'

I see no Ships! (With one eye closed!)
After that we had a brush back in the caravan and we both looked 'The Business', OTL can do a good job if he puts his mind to it!

TM wanted to make some cards or Tags for her blog so we left her to it and dragged OTL off to the big beach down the road.

We were there yesterday and had caught a sniff of rabbits! OTL had a telephone call from one of his customers, so he had a busy half an hour or so on the phone. That was OK by us 'cos as soon as OTL stopped the car we were out and 'Hunting Rabbit'!

We managed to find a couple of rabbits in the gorse bushes and had a glorious time chasing them from hole to hole!

We finally ended up at the gorse bush at the far end of the line of gorse bushes, the rabbit had run out of holes!

Holly and I were working as a team, she stood guard in case the rabbit tried to escape from any of the other holes and I took to digging the rabbit hole to make it bigger so we could get inside!

Team Work!
I was a 'Puppy Possessed'! There I was digging like crazy, the roots that were in the way I tore at them with my teeth and ripped them from the ground! I was snarling and woofing and growling!

Mind you, it didn't help having a Gorse Bush Spikes stinging at your bottom!

I got spikes under my tail!
Holly was having a dig as well when I got a sniff from another hole, but most of the time it was me doing the digging!

Keep going, we are nearly there!
Well, it was at this point that OTL finally finished with his telephone calls and got out of the car to find out what we were doing.

He was not pleased with us 'cos we were filthy, from the tip of our tail to the tip of our noses!

That was it, he dragged us out and put us on the lead to stop us from going back in again!

Two Grubby Puppies!

I really didn't see what was wrong, I mean, it is part of our job description that we can get grubby every so often!

I'm not 'Really Grubby', just sort of 'Work Worn'!
Well that's it, we were confined to the caravan after we got washed, all over, and TM & OTL told us we had to be good puppies 'cos they were going out for a meal, without us, as a anniversary celebration.

So, it looks like an evening of snoozing on their bed until they come back. Mind you, we need a rest after all that digging today!

See you tomorrow!

Luv,

McDaisy & Mac Holly
