Too Wet to Wee!

Hello Woofers!

A Damp Daisy & Holly here with you again!

It seems that it has been raining all night and most of the day!

We went down with The Missus first thing and stuck our noses out of the door, turned around and went back to bed!

It was raining!

Later, after Old Two Legs had got up, showered and dressed, he uttered those magic words, Walkies!

The excitement dropped away as soon as he got our coats out, coats equal cold or rain and as it didn't feel cold the only other thing could be rain.

We got our coats on and OTL got his boots and coat on, with the hood that keeps him dry and then he put the coat on the camera, the one that keeps that dry.

Then he opens the front door.

It was raining!

We rushed to the car and quickly jumped inside, Holly said that it may stop when we get to The Sea Wall.

It didn't.

It was still raining!

We ran across the Car Park and onto the grassy path.

It was still raining!

We had a sniff and a wee while OTL squelched off down the path to the Sea Wall.

Holly said that she had no intention of getting soaked and wanted to go back home, she'll have a poo later!

I followed OTL down the path a bit but decided to let him know I wanted to go home!

It was still raining!

OTL, I Don't want to go any further!

 OTL stopped, turned around and started to walk towards me, that was the sign, he wanted to go back as well!

I'm off!

Come on, race you back!

 I spotted Holly back down the path and woofed 'Back to The Car'! That was it, she didn't need a second telling!

Back to the car Holly!

 I got closer and she looked around and said 'Hurry up, I can feel the rain trickling down my tail!'

My tails wet!

On we trotted, through the puddles, yuk!

And it was Still Raining!

We don't like puddles!

 Holly turns towards the car park, 'Come on Girl' she calls, I can see the car!

When we got back in, OTL took our coats off and gave us a good rub down with the towel, the back door was open and we stood on the parcel shelf. As we were getting dried, another car parked up and a couple of Terrier types were let out of the car, we could see they were not impressed with the rain at all!

So, we woofed our, 'Hello Woofers!' call and told them they were going to get soaked!

They didn't look too happy about that and still it rained!

Back home to another rub down and a brush before getting our Lambs Heart breakfast' and then off for a snooze before lunch time and the F1 racing!

We watched the first three or so laps of the racing but then decided it would be a 'Good Idea' if we went out again!

This time the rain had stopped, we hoped, long enough for us to get a walk down on The Sea Wall, so, off we went in the car splashing through all the puddles on the road.

When we got down there, we were in for a shock, the local Sea Angling Society was holding a competition on who could catch the most/biggest fish from the shore.

We bumped into the first fisherman who looked at Holly and said 'NO!' Seems like he has met Holly before!

No! Clear Off!

 Oooooo! Says Holly, 'Who's the Grumpy One today?'!

 So we ran down the Sea Wall and stopped at another fisherman who had his bait out on the path. No, as Holly says, 'Anything on the floor is everyone's' and proceeded to sniff it prior to tasting it. But she didn't bite it 'cos it sniffed 'orrible!

Yuck........Squid!

 Our Holly is a trier though and at the next fisherman she did the old 'Got any Food Mister?' but he wasn't even going to answer Holly, seems his mate had told him about her quest for sandwiches!

 Then we turned the corner, there were hundreds of them as far as the eye could see!

Well, loads anyway!

Loads and Loads of them!

There was one who was all friendly and called to us both and then he moved to stroke Holly behind the ears but Holly asked, 'Got any Food Mister?' and when he said 'No' she said,

 'No Food, No Strokes!'

We left them to get on with getting cold 'cos the wind had got up, so it was time to get back to the car and the warm heater!

Come on, Home, it's getting cold!

TM said it was a very exciting F1 race, so OTL is going to watch the repeat at seven tonight, after dinner. 

So we have that to look forward to, plus some nibbles I'm sure he will have on the table beside him!

A Saturday without OTL

Hi Woofers!

Daisy & Holly here with you again!

After yesterdays fun and games, today has been a bit 'Slow' if you know what I mean.

Old Two Legs stayed in bed all night long, no falling out!

The alarm went off at five thirty for him to get up and go to work. Well, I must admit it was very tempting to just roll over and go back to sleep!

Instead, I got up and went into the office while he got ready to go out and do some work this morning!

Holly stayed in bed, you see Holly is not a 'Morning' dog!

It was sad to see him go at six, but the sooner he got the work done the quicker he would be back!

The Missus took us out for our walk this morning, over The Fields, but we didn't go all the way around, just half way. That's 'cos she saw some dogs coming the other way looking twice as muddy as Archie did yesterday and after us having a wash down she didn't want us to get too yucky!

Back home TM gave us a brush, not exactly the sort of going over that OTL does, but it cleaned off the dried bits of mud that had got onto our legs!

Then we got breakfast, Doggy Scoff' Yuk, Yuk and Double Yuk!

That was it, no OTL and Doggy Scoff as well.

We were not 'Happy Puppy's!

So, off we went, to sleep the morning away until OTL came back, and back he came at about one thirty!

He tried to sneak in the front door without us hearing, what a Plonker, there is no way anything gets through the front door without us knowing!

Well, we gave him a big super Welcome Home lick and in my excitement, I managed to scratch him on his top lip and made it bleed!

I said sorry and we carried on licking and woofing hello!

Well, after a bit of lunch we jumped up and sat on his lap and gave him the old 'Hairy Eyeball' which was another way of saying 'Walkies!'

Down we went to The Sea Wall and although it was a bit windy, the sun was out and it wasn't so cold.

Which was just as well 'cos we didn't have our coats on!

OTL made us sit down together so he could take a photo, a sort of  'Us After', after a bit of messing about we finally relented and sat still for five seconds, which we thought was long enough to make a full length feature film, never mind take a couple of snaps!

 We didn't meet any other dogs while we were out, so it was just a case of 'Catch Up on The Sniffs'!

Even OTL couldn't find any fungi, but he looked out to sea and saw a sailing boat go past, so, switching the camera controls around he took a 'Blue' picture of the boat.

I suppose it's alright if you like that sort of thing but it doesn't turn us on!

Tonight we are having venison, well OTL is and we are going to mug him good and proper and if we don't get our fill, I suppose it's back to the Doggy Scoff afterwards!

Early night tonight, we got to help OTL do some gardening tomorrow, providing it doesn't rain!

A Little Bit Off The Back Please!

Hi Ho Woofers!

Daisy & Holly here and Looking Good, sort of!

Last night was a Scream!

About half three, Holly and I were in our beds, sleeping our 'Night Time Sleep' when we heard Old Two Legs mumbling away, just a little louder than normal. Now, this is a sign that he is dreaming, that means he could burst into song or start shouting or jumping about or even running. Well this time it was the 'Jumping About' bit!

Actually, it was 'Jumping About and Rolling Off The Bed and Shouting 'Geronimo'!

Suddenly we were descended upon by an OTL all wrapped up in the duvet!

It scared the tail off us both to have OTL land in your basket in the middle of the night!

We could hear The Missus telling him off, for pinching the duvet off her!

I jumped up and gave him a good 'Wake Up' licking in his ear and Holly just grumbled, picked up her carrot and wandered off down stairs to finish her sleep off on the sofa!

Seems that OTL was dreaming he was beside a swimming pool and he rolled off the side of the pool into the water, only it wasn't, it was our beds!

That OTL is getting worse as he gets older, maybe he needs to get wormed, that'll sort him out!

All this means we were a little bit late getting up but at least we weren't descended upon any more!

Now, don't get me wrong, we do look 'The Business' when we come out but Holly and me agree that having someone other than OTL giving us a wash all over is a bit off putting, at least OTL warms his hands first!

After lunch, which we didn't get, OTL came to pick us up. We looked like 'Stars' and we sniffed like perfume factory!

OTL knew what we wanted, so as he had to drop off some stuff, we went to the Riverside Park, it was great. Being let off the lead, Holly and I first of all paddled in the mud, then we had a roll in the seaweed and after that we walked in every muddy puddle we could find!

So, you haven't got the 'After' photo, well not the real one, we will have to get OTL to take that tomorrow after he comes back from work!

I can show you a preview, this is me sleeping off my dinner, Lambs Heart and biscuits!

You will notice the lack of hair!

Just Snoozed Out!

 Sorry it's in Black and White but OTL didn't check the settings on the camera before snapping away!

We had to spend some time getting washed and dried after our 'Paddle' but at least we don't sniff of perfume, just doggy shampoo!

I don't think we will be mugging OTL for any dinner tonight, our tummies are too full!

It's Hard Being on Guard!

Hi Woofers!

Daisy & Holly here again!

You know, we really do earn our keep in this house. There we are, on call day or night to protect the house from burglars and sneaky cats and what thanks do we get?

There we were last night, doing the rounds, checking the doors and windows. Holly tripped over the power supply for The Missus's laptop and stubbed her claw, gave a bit of a yelp, I thought she had spotted something and was doing the 'Guard Woof', joined in with the woofing and Holly thought the same thing and joined me doing the 'Guard Woofing'

Well anyone can make a mistake, the way Old Two Legs went on you would have thought we had started WW III!

We over slept this morning, we put it down to OTL showing off last night and keeping us up!

This morning down on The Sea Wall, there were puddles all over the place 'cos it rained last night. Holly and I had fun splashing through the puddles 'cos we had our coats on, so all we got wet was our paws and tummy!

Looking at the clouds, you could see the rain blowing away.

Bye Bye Rain!

 We met up with with the Labrador who thinks OTL is wonderful. As normal, up he comes, all happy, wagging his tail and making and excited noises that in doggy says 'Hello I'm So Pleeeased to See You!'

Holly says he's a creep and would do anything for a stroke behind the ear!

That's the trouble with the Labrador breed, always playing up to the Two Legs and looking dopey!

Back home to a Chicken Breakfast and a snooze until the Postman arrives, we do our 'Guard Woofs' and he laughs and calls us 'Killers', he's OK and knows we wouldn't hurt him, much!

Come lunch time, OTL piles us into the car and off we go, but not around to The Sea Wall, no we head off into town to get some petrol for the car, that's 'cos OTL is working again this Saturday morning.

Now, because we are in the town, that means we are close to three of our favourite places, The Farm and The Forest and The New Park, so, we jumped up and down and got all excited and the gave OTL a lick on the ear and told him we wanted to go to The Forest to chase Squirrels!

Good Old OTL, he nearly always does as we tell him!

We started off running up the path but were surprised to see a car and trailer parked in the middle of the pathway.

'Here' says Holly, 'That's not allowed!'

You can't park that there!

 As we got up to the car we spotted some Two Legs sitting around having a cup of tea and OTL told us they were the Rangers or Friends of The Forest who were doing some clearing up of the trees.

 Holly says they should be working instead of drinking tea!

 It was good to be down the forest again and the colours were super. 

Holly said that it was Golden Sunshine on Golden Leaves!

She can get all poetic sometimes!

As we were having a sniff around, OTL dived off into the undergrowth, guess what he was looking for?

Yep! Fungi!

First he found some small Bracket Fungi

Then after ferreting about some more, he found some larger Bracket Fungi!

Now, do you remember he found a fungi growing out of a tree stump and couldn't work out what it was? Well today we had another look and he reckons it is Beefsteak Fungi!

It looked Horrid!

It was red and gooey looking and was the consistency of raw liver!

I got fed up waiting for him finish messing about, so Holly and me went off looking for Squirrels!

I saw One!

As normal, they stayed high in the trees and shouting rude squirrel things at us. 

It's a good job we don't speak squirrel!

We were having a sniff for them on the ground when all of a sudden there was a shower of Chestnuts landed on Holly, me and OTL. Holly thought that we were under attack from all the squirrels in the forest at the same time! It was only when OTL pointed out that the wind was blowing the nuts off the tree that we realised what was happening. These trees can be dangerous some times!

Who threw that lot?

We met up with a Fox Terrier type who came crashing out of the bushes, ran up to Holly and said 'Have you seen any Squirrels?'

Well, Holly wasn't going to let on about any squirrel we stood a chance of catching, so she pretended not to have seen any today.

OTL was by now also keeping his eyes open for squirrels and claims he saw one in the trees but when we looked, we think all he saw was falling leaves!

Holly and I kept on searching all over the place, we even climbed up some of the trees where we could and ran along fallen trees as well searching for their scent!

Mmmm, Squirrel Droppings!

OTL was trying to spot them but to be honest, his eyes are going, his sense of smell has gone and he really can't run very far or fast, so it is left up to me to do the real hunting!

Holly is getting better, she can't run as fast but she can climb up and 'Spot' the squirrels, that is until she falls off the tree trunk!

It's a bit slippy up here!

So, there it is, we've had a super afternoon chasing squirrels and when we got home we had a wash 'cos our legs and paws were rather muddy! Then off to mug OTL for some of his Meat Balls and Rice! Then we shall settle down to an evenings snooze and dream of Hunting Squirrel again!

No squirrel but it just looks nice!

Tomorrow we are off to get our hair cut and nails trimmed and have a shampoo & set.

Now that should be fun!

We will get OTL to take a picture of us just to let you know what we look like, but our fur doesn't really settle down for three or four days, then we really look 'The Business'!

Scary Night Tonight!

Hello Woofers!

Daisy & Holly back with you again!

You know, Old Two Legs promised we could go down The Forest today but it rained, so we didn't go! Mind you, we don't really mind 'cos if there's one thing we don't like is a wet tummy and soggy paws and rain under your collar!

You could see what the day was going to be like when we went out first thing this morning.

Early Morning Rain!

 We had a sniff around but there wasn't any really new sniffs and Holly said that she was looking forward to getting back home 'cos she caught the sniff of Lambs Heart being cooked before we left home!

So, a quick run around and off for breakfast!

Of course, after finishing off our bowl full of yummy Lambs Heart the next best thing is to sleep it off in our day beds!

As we weren't going hunting squirrel Holly suggested we keep fit and healthy by having running races along the Sea Wall. Now, as you know, I am very good at running and I always manage to beat Holly providing she doesn't shoulder charge me off the Sea Wall Path!

So, I was feeling quite confident of calling her a Looser!

Well, we were sniffing along at lunch time when Holly said we should race and to get ready.

We lined up at the corner railings and Holly said I should do the count down.

'Ready'

Mmm?

'Steady'

Can you sniff that?'

What?

Chicken Fillet!

You Joking?

No!

Oh!

Was that 'Go?'

And off she went while I stood there with my nose in the air looking for the sniff!

It was only after a couple of sniffs that I realised what she was up to and set off in hot pursuit of a rapidly receding tail!

I'm Winning!

 Holly, when she is being sneaky can get a good lick on and today was one of those times. She shot down the Sea Wall and was laughing her nose off at the same time!

Well, in the end she crossed the line and won by just a paws length!

I could see that she wasn't going to let me forget this in a  hurry!

Of course, all the way around and up on the hill all I could hear was  'Loooser!'  'Loooser!'  'Loooser!'

 It was getting too much, what was worse, OTL was laughing his head off at my discomfort, I mean, me, loosing a race with Holly!

 I can see I will have to pinch her carrot tonight, just to show her who's in charge!

Before I started hunting  for her carrot, there was a knock at the door and some strange looking young Two Legs stood there going 'Trick or Treat'...... Wot?

Well OTL said Happy Halloween and handed him some sweets and off he went. This happened several time with varying stages of success, there were some who hadn't got dressed up and looked like they normally look. OTL says it shows a lack of effort, but they got a sweet all the same!

After Halloween comes Bonfire Night and those nasty Whizz Bangs that Holly hates. OTL has said that he may take us out for a ride in the car while all that's going on, that should be fun!

At least we won't need to dress up for it!

The Sun is back!

Hello Woofers!

It's Daisy & Holly here again!

It's Half Term Holidays for the young Two Legs around our village. You can see that 'cos with this cold weather, they tend to try to find somewhere sheltered to gather!

We are lucky 'cos we have a soft warm bed to snooze in and a warm office with Old Two Legs pounding away at his computer, well, what ever turns him on!

When we out first thing on The Sea Wall, the tide was out but the wind had dropped and the sun shone and it was very pleasant walk.

We had a look towards Essex just in case there were some rain clouds on the way, but there was sun shine over there as well!

The sniffs were interesting and some were new to us!

Mmmmm! Interesting!

Holly spotted a broken Fork Handle on the beach, she said that the worms must be big if they can bite the end off a garden fork!

Then we spotted a Wormy Man heading back to the Sea Wall and we could see he had his fork!

One of the things about Half Term is that the beach gets visits from Mummy's and Youngsters, but we thought it was a bit cold for a Beach Party!

Can they make a Stone Castle on the beach?

There were some who brought their own tent with them to keep warm!

A Warm Shelter!

We were mooching along when we heard a lot of woofing behind us, it was the Shih Tzu dogs we meet sometimes. This time for whatever reason they were all woofing at us.

We can woof as well!

It must have caught Holly off guard 'cos she suddenly started giving the 'Serious Grumbles' which is a step away from the 'Really Serious Grumbles' which could end up in a real fight!

We don't like that growling!

OTL was crouched down and he held Holly next to his leg, so she was still having a good grumble but OTL was giving her a cuddle so she didn't start a proper fight!

The Shih Tzu dogs cleared off but kept turning around to see if Holly was coming after them!

 OTL was interested in a flower that was still blooming, he said it was a sort of clover type plant but it was still flowering at the end of October!

 If the weather keeps up like this OTL has promised us a trip down to The Forest and while he hunts for fungi, we can hunt for Squirrels!

It's Barney Again!

Hi Woofers!

Daisy & Holly here again!

This mucking about with the clocks has really messed up our 'Sleeping Clock' why can't you lot leave the clocks alone? In fact, why have clocks at all? I mean, sleep when you get tired, wake up when you have had enough sleep then in between, eat!

Just how difficult can that be?

We were up far too early this morning, about an hour by my reckoning and that meant Old Two Legs got his 'Good Morning Ear Lick' while he was still fast asleep!

See what happens when you mess with time!

We were also out early this morning for our walk along The Sea Wall. We managed to chase a rabbit that doesn't have a clock, so he didn't know he could have had an extra hour in bed!

Then Holly spotted a Heron out on the mud flats, wow, we don't often see herons on our beach!

OK, I'm Here!

We were not sure what he was looking for 'cos there's only cockles out there and the odd worm!

What food is here?

We left him to his searching for breakfast but we think he needs some advice from the Oyster Catchers!

OTL pointed out a Curlew on the beach doing his Tai Chi, Holly said that it would be fun to learn how to do it.

That's OK, but I don't really see Holly getting up early in the morning and doing her Tai Chi exercise beside the pond first thing in the morning, she likes her bed too much!

I was having a sniff and heard Holly singing to herself, it went sort of 'Do, Do, The Dog Trot, Yeah!'

I almost burst out laughing, she was free of her coat and you could see she was moving a bit better but I think she has a long way to go before getting as good as me!

I was going to make a comment but all of a sudden we heard,

'Hi Girlieeeees!'

It was Barney on his morning walk!

Hi Girlieeeees!

He was chasing his new ball, the one with two colours and he got close to Holly and asked her if she wanted a chew. 'No Thanks' says Holly, 'I'm not a ball type of doggy'

Then he spotted OTL crouching down and went over to say hello and get a tickle behind the ear!

Of course, OTL threw the ball a few times for him and I joined in trying to get the ball but Barney is too quick off the mark and he has longer legs than me!

Barney says that he has been practising his 'Posing Stances' you know, the one you put on if you want to be noticed or get away with something naughty! Here he said, how about this for my 'Well?' pose?

Here's another, I call this my 'Sneaky Smirk' it's to be used when I know where the sniff is coming from but the Two Legs don't!

A Sniff? Yeah, Right!

It was about then that we got called to go, so Holly and I tried out different Smirks but OTL wasn't looking, so that was a waste of time!

Back home it was a chicken breakfast followed by a super snooze in the day bed!

We love mornings like that!

We finished off the Chicken and I must say, it was a lot, in fact we could hardly get up on the bed, so Holly stayed with me in the office and we both fell asleep until after our normal 'second walk' time.

See, more trouble when you mess around with time!

When we got down to The Sea Wall and as it's Half Term, there were a load of young Two Legs on the beach with some pretty big looking dogs.

So, Holly and I just looked at them and didn't do our normal woofing!

 You think we're stupid?

Then it started to rain, not a lot but enough to make our coats wet on the back and give us damp heads! So, when we got to the short cut we got ahead of OTL and legged it up the path!

When we looked back, there were loads of colours over Essex, OTL said it was a Rainbow, which was all very interesting if you're into that sort of thing, me, I just wanted to get back to the car and get the heater turned on!

Home just in time, more rain, but we didn't care 'cos we were good and warm and the bed was soft, so, we had another snooze to pass the time until dinner time!

So, the lesson for today is, Stop Messing about with Time!

You know it makes sense!
