Snowflake Big Day Out.

Hi Woofers!

Daisy, Holly & Snowflake back home at last!

Well, where do we start?

Let's start at four fifteen this morning, that was the time that Holly decided she wanted a wee and a wander around the garden, so, a couple of woofs and down came Old Two Legs doing his 'Bouncing off the Wall' trick!

He really wanted a good nights sleep and planned to get up early but the four fifteen bit was not as early as he had planned!

OTL got up an hour late this morning and blamed Holly!

Holly and I got our morning run along the Sea Wall while Snowflake stayed in bed enjoying a 'Late Snooze'

As soon as breakfast was over, off we went to the Kent County Show.

We arrived in plenty of time to get introduced to all the other ferrets on the stand. Holly and I stayed in the corner guarding the water bottles while OTL and Snowflake did the 'Social Rounds'!

Hi! I'm Snowflake!
There were all sorts of ferrets there, Silver ones and Sandy ones and Polecat looking ones and English Ferret (All white but black eyes) and Albino, like wot Snowflake is, all white and pink eyes!

Pleased to Meet you!
We were getting confused with all the names and it was a good job that Snowflake could remember them all!

Hi, are you racing today?
Some were awake and running about while most of the were enjoying a snooze, all curled up together!

Snowflake had a rest before the race and was all ready for the off!

As expected she was put into the starting box by OTL and told which way to run!

The count down started and then they were off!

First out of the gate!
All the other ferrets raced down the tube, some turned around and at one point one was even given a 'Shove' by one of the helpers, which OTL started to call out 'Cheat' and 'Fix' and 'Foul Play'!

This See Saw is Tricky!
Well, we didn't cheat and in the end Snowflake finished the course and came out the end in fine style, last!
The Last Bridge.
We didn't care, we had cheered and woofed and booed at the others and cheered even louder when Snowflake came out the end of the pipe. You know, there were some that didn't even finish!

Well, after the race it was decided that Snowflake should have a rest and was put into a big cage, all on her own. OTL got into discussing the merits of getting a mate for Snowflake and as we didn't know what she would be like with another ferret in her cage, a big (castrated) Hob was put in the cage with her.

OTL was worried in case she would get attacked by the male and kept a close eye on what was happening.

First of all it was 'Nose Sniffing' then 'Butt Sniffin' then Snowflake started to chase after this Hob!

She was cuddling up to him, then licking his ear, then grabbing him at the back of the neck, then she went back to licking his ear and generally being a Big Tart!

Wot Sleepy Eyes you have!
OTL decided to leave them alone for a while, just to see what happens and go off to do a bit of shopping. Holly and I both got a new cushion type sleeping bed which is real posh and dead comfortable!

OTL decided that it maybe a good idea to get us all home before it got too hot, so back to the Harrietsham Ferret Rescue Centre stand to collect Snowflake.

Well, you wouldn't believe it, there was our little Snowflake, curled up in bed with the big hob! Both of them snoring their heads off, cuddled up in a 'Ferret Doughnut' and he even had one paw over her shoulder!

WOT A TART!
Well! Says OTL, 'And what do we have here!'

Holly and I both were Gob Smacked, 'What a Tart' says Holly, 'leave her for five minutes and look what happens!'

We heard OTL saying to the lady from the centre that he will 'Call her and make an appointment to see her next week'. So it looks like Snowflake is off to find a mate next week!

We got back to the car and OTL got a fresh bottle of water out and filled our bowl. Holly was about to dive in for a drink when Snowflake shoved her snout in first and began to lap the water, pausing just long enough to mention that ear wax tastes Yuk!

Ear Wax is Yuk!
'Well', says Holly, 'Keep your tongue in your mouth next time and hurry up I'm thirsty!'

Well, that's it for now, we are all too hot to bother with anything else, except that OTL and The Missus are going potty over a Lilly Flower that has poked it's head up out of the water and is threatening to bloom in the next couple of days!

The First Lilly Flower!
It's all go here you know!

See you tomorrow!

Luv,

Daisy, Holly & Snowflake (Tart!)

More Spying!

Hi Woofers!

It's us again, the Spy Network, Daisy, Holly & Snowflake!

Well, today we have been hot, very hot. Our morning walk was fun and Snowflake enjoyed just a gentle jog and a sniff of the rabbit poo!

As planned, The Missus was off to her Master Class and Holly and I went off to the Kent County Show so spy on the Ferret Racing!

We got up there a bit earlier than planned but we made good use of the time by looking at all of the other stands there.

We said hello to the camels but I don't think they spoke dog! There were loads of steam driven machinery and even a thing that sounded like a band playing but it was steam driven!

We stopped off at the Dogs Trust stand, said 'Hello' and had a drink from their water bowl, in fact, the lady on the stand got us a fresh cold bowl full, it was super!

Back at the Ferret Racing Tent Old Two Legs had a chat while we kept an eye on the cages full of ferrets. Every so often they would get a lady come around to each cage and squirt water all over the ferrets, just to keep them cool!

At twelve forty five, every one moved out to the race course to start the race.

First of all they were all put in a box, after a squirt of water!

Here comes the first squirt!
Then four were chosen to do the first race and were taken out of the box for a second squirt!

Number two squirt!
Quick as a flash, they were put into the starting box and the count down began!

Getting ready for the Off!
5-4-3-2-1----GO!
The gate was lifted and they shot out of the box and down the tube! There was one who turned around and went back, then another shot forward over the See Saw and rushed for the bridge!

That's the See Saw done!
The second See Saw was a doddle and onto the last bridge.

Coming into land, I think!
The only problem was, the ferret in the Blue Tube then sat down and licked the water off it's bits! That allowed the Green Tube Ferret to catch up and get to the finishing line first!

The Winning Ferret!

We made a note to get Snowflake to run all the way and out the end before stopping!

It was getting just too hot down there so we decided to go home and have a snooze! Back home we have been watching the bird box camera and we think there has been a tragedy, we haven't spotted any movement in the box plus TM found a dead bird on the patio yesterday. We  think that it may have been the heat that has taken it's toll and the baby bird just faded away.

Shame but as OTL says, it's just nature and there is nothing we can or should do about things that happen naturally.

Yeah, OK, but just make sure my water bowl is full to the brim please Mr OTL!

Tomorrow we are getting up early to get up there and let Snowflake get a couple of practise runs in before the real race, so, early to bed tonight and that goes for Snowflake tomorrow!

We will be there with our Snowflake Chant, it goes ...........

Snowflake!
Go Go, Mate!
Snowflake!
Go Go, Mate!
Snowflake!
Go Go, Go Go, Mate!
Yeah!

Well, it sounds OK to us!

Bye bye for now!

Luv,

Daisy, Holly & Snowflake

OTL has been Spying!

Hi Woofers!

Daisy, Holly & Snowflake here with you.

It was a bit cloudy down our end of the world this morning, even Snowflake questioned the need for a run but in the end enjoyed her scamper along the beach!

Today was the first day of the Kent County Show and OTL was off and away early to have a look around, take some pictures and do some Spying!

You see, he had made arrangements to meet up with the man who runs the Harrietsham Ferret Rescue  Centre who was also running the Ferret Racing Event.

OTL was given instructions by Snowflake to find out as much as possible about the course and also the other racing ferrets!

Off went OTL with the instructions written on a bit of paper that he had to eat after memorising the instructions!

When he got there, he forgot almost every thing we had told him and was away with his camera taking pictures of other things!

Like Camels!

Any closer and I'll spit in your Lens!
Then there were chickens!

No, I'm not a chicken I'm an Eagle!
 And tasty baby ducks!

We're Pterodactyls, not Ducks!
OTL said this one was called Porky and she reminded him of Holly!

My name is Holly!
He even found some reindeer but didn't find out if it tasted like Venison!

No, my name is NOT Bambi!
Next came the Ferret Racing course and it seems to go like this.

First of all you stick your ferret in the box here.

Starting Gate!
When the door is opened,  the ferret runs down the tube and over the 'see saw'. Snowflake is a bit worried about this bit 'cos she has never seen a 'See Saw' before.

The 'SEE SAW'!
After that, she must run down the next tunnel and over the bridge, (no problem) and down to the next 'See Saw', still a bit worried about that bit again, then over a bridge and almost home!

The Finishing Post!
Then it is a run down the 'Home Straight' to the finish where OTL should be waiting!

OTL managed to get a couple of sneak photo's of the competition, Holly reckons they are all Bozo's!

I don't know about Snowflake but I reckon Holly knows what she is talking about!

Gissa Taste of Yer Finger Mate!
 This one looked really 'Chilled'!

Just Snoozing, just Snoozing!
OTL has made arrangements for Snowflake to have a 'Trial Run' on Sunday morning before the crowds get in, so at least she will have an idea of what to do!

Tomorrow, Snowflake is getting a gentle stroll along the Sea Wall, not too much effort 'cos we got to save that all for Sunday!

OTL also said that there may be a Little Lost Ferret who would make a good 'Friend' for Snowflake and maybe come to live with us but we have got to see how Snowflake feels about that one before making any decisions!

Holly and I are going with OTL tomorrow to the show so we will have a good chance to check out the competition and maybe scare them with some tales of Snowflakes speed and agility!

See you tomorrow.

Luv,

Daisy, Holly & Snowflake

Last Days of Training.

Hi Ho Woofers!

We're here again, Daisy, Holly & Snowflake.

You will be pleased to know that Gob's Mum and Dad are raising another brood of sparrows. We can't see them at all 'cos the camera lens is is blocked up with all the nest material that has made the nest more of an igloo rather than a traditional nest!

However, we can see one baby bird moving about, just, and Mum and Dad are coming back to feed him. We have seen one big mouth opening up when Mum comes back and Holly reckons it looks big enough to be a whale!

So, the first baby sparrow has been named Moby and we think we can see some other eggs in the nest, so there may be more birds soon!

Snowflake has been out this morning and where we normally start, on the beach, is a run up the beach and along the Sea Wall, but for some reason or other, Snowflake decided she would first like to play on the sand! She started off by digging a small hole, then she shovelled some sand up with her nose. After that she headed towards the rocks and sea weed for a sniff and a taste of sea water, Yuk!

She sneezed, shook her head and decided that she had better get on with some running!

We charged back and you know what? She is definitely getting faster and braver 'cos she was shouting out to Holly and me to 'Get out of the way, Ferret coming through'!

Cheeky thing she is!

Lunch time the sun had come out and it was 'HOT', I mean really HOT! Old Two Legs had to deliver some stuff and he decided that it would not be comfortable for us to spend too long in the car, so he took us home and before we had finished our drink, he had sneaked out again!

To be honest, I really didn't mind 'cos Holly and I just crashed out on the sofa and snoozed the afternoon away!

Now, OTL doesn't take the camera with him first thing 'cos he can't handle two dogs and a ferret AND a camera, so lunch time is the only time he gets to take it out with him. Let's face it, there just ain't much to photograph at midday in the sunshine with a stiff wind blowing!

Insects get blown about, Holly and I stay in the long grass and OTL's eyes water 'cos the wind blows across his eyes and makes them water, so he can't see a thing. The there's the hay fever!

So, you will appreciate the following photo's !

We think this is a Common Blue.
Then we couldn't miss out on the Seven Spot Burnet Moth, one of the Day Time Flying Moths and not a 'Rare' one either!

A Seven Spot Burnet Moth.
Now, just how many of you counted the spots and thought, there's only twelve spots I can see?

Well, the seven refers to 'each wing', so there!

A seven spot burnet moth from the side!
Holly, being an expert on Moths and Butterflies and photographs, showed her appreciation of OTL's work, with a big Raspberry!

Rhubarb to that lot!

OK, we're off to see what's for dinner, OTL's, not ours!

See you tomorrow!

Luv,

Daisy, Holly & Snowflake.

Hard Work for Snowflake

Hi Woofers!

It's us again, Daisy, Holly & Snowflake.

Well, today has been a sort of mixed day today, let me tell you.

It started last night, Old Two Legs was having a bad dream, we could tell that 'cos he was mumbling in his sleep and keeping us awake. We got a bit fed up and wandered off to the kitchen for a drink when we heard a big 'Crash' from up stairs and rushed up to see what had happened.

OTL had got to the part of his dream where he needed to jump out of the window to prevent paying for something, (we never found out what it was) anyway, with one almighty leap he flew out of bed, crashed into the bedroom wall and landed in Holly and my beds!

We ran upstairs to find OTL, rubbing his head, and trying to get back into bed!

Poor OTL, I gave him a good licking all across his bald patch, just to make it all better!

Snowflake was out early and we had a good run down on the Sea Wall and Snowflake even beat Holly and me back to the car!

Back home we were discussing what Snowflake should be wearing as 'Racing Colours'. She suggested Pink and OTL said Purple and I said Black and Holly suggested Green!

In the end we decided that she would wear her walking harness, which is pink, or, nothing!

A bit later on, OTL and The Missus, both sneaked off out without us, seems they both had an appointment with the Two Legs Vet, I think they call them Doctors.

Being all very old TM & OTL get injections against Flu and Pneumonia and Distemper and Hard Pad and I'm sure that there are Anti Flea stuff as well!

When they came back it was time to go for our lunch time walk, it shows you how long they were out!

Down on the Sea Wall, the local workers were out eating their lunch, some sitting in their cars and some sitting on the benches!

Dining Alfresco!
OTL went off looking for bugs and Holly and I just enjoyed the sniffs!

Searching for Pollen!
Back home we all enjoyed an afternoon snooze, well Holly, Snowflake and Me!

So, off for an evening of slurping for OTL and we get a bit of Shortbread!

See you tomorrow!

Luv,

Daisy, Holly & Snowflake

Snowflakes Got A Start!

Hi Woofers!

Daisy, Holly & Snowflake here!

Wot good news! Old Two Legs got an email back saying that she can enter The Race!

She was so pleased that she rolled over three times and then ran up OTL's leg and jumped onto the desk, ran all the way around and back again!

So, that's it, OTL will be going to have a 'Face to Face' chat with the man on Friday, Holly and I will be up on Saturday for a wander around with OTL, but on Sunday, that is going to be the 'Big Day'!

The races are at 10:00 12:00 14:00hr and Snowflake fancies her chances in all three races! OTL says that we will have to see how the first race goes before deciding on what to do in the second or third!

Snowflake says that she will now double her training and has asked OTL to file her claws so that they will act as running spikes!

Ooh! That ferret, she is So Competitive!

We got a 'Love Letter' from the vets saying that Snowflake has to go in for a 'Booster' injection to keep her clear of Distemper, so, with some trepidation, OTL made an appointment for today at five thirty.

He was working away at five thirty when the vets called, 'Oh Shove It' says OTL but the vet people said that it was OK ''cos Snowflake is due her injection once every two years!

Who's a lucky Ferret then!

Our walk at lunch time was interesting 'cos we saw a Bozo OTL Look Alike!

I mean, we thought that only OTL stood in front of bushes trying to photograph insects!

A Bozo OTL Look Alike!
When we got down to the beach and found the tide was in but it was a bit windy with the wind coming in off the sea, so that means the waves were a bit bigger than yesterday!

Big waves!
I thought it may be a good idea to have a swim and cool off but the nearer I got to the water, the bigger the waves got until right at the last moment, I decided that I didn't want a swim after all!

Too Big For Me
While Holly and I were having a sniff, we could hear OTL grumbling away on the other side of the bush, seems he was trying to photograph a spider who was building a web in the force eight gale!

Focusing was proving to be .........difficult!

Knit One Purl Two Then Drop One!
Back home Snowflake was doing some work in her gym on the running machine. The though of breaking into the racing business.

OTL has been giving her legs a massage and she has been getting extra Ferretone!

OTL says that they have terrier racing as well, so, you never know Holly and I might get entered in that as well!

I wonder if the do any OTL racing!

See you tomorrow,

Luv,

Daisy, Holly & Snowflake

The Best Way to Cool Off!

Hi Woofers!

Daisy, Holly & Snowflake here.

Wot a hot day today! It was bad enough last night, Holly just couldn't get on with the heat and woofed to go out in the garden at two, then three fifteen, three forty five and finally at four this morning!

In the end, Old Two Legs left the back door open and went back to bed saying he'd had enough!

Snowflake was up good and early to get ready for her morning training run. We started on the beach, as normal but she took a moment or two to get going. Saying that some dog kept her awake last night with its woofing!

Really! We said, we didn't hear a thing!

Soon she was off and as normal, we did a bit of cross country running as well!

This morning we got a reply from an email OTL sent trying to track down the Two Legs running the Ferret Racing Stand at the Kent County Show.

It seems that he is not running it but has given us the name of the Two Legs who is. It turns out to be the Harrietsham Ferret Rescue Centre that have that pleasure!

OTL has sent an email to enquire if Snowflake could get a 'Start' and we are still waiting for a reply.

However, the first email went to the Kent Ferret Club who are running two shows and they have invited Snowflake along to both shows and also she will get a 'Free Entry' in the races!

The only problem is, one of the days is right in the middle of the Kent County Show!

So, we are guaranteed a race on the 3rd August and, depending on the reply we get from the Harrietsham Ferret Rescue Centre, we will have to choose which one to go to!

Decisions, Decisions!

This afternoon we went down to the New Park and of course, the Swimming Hole!

I was first in and it was just Great!

Me, Keeping my Bits Cool!
It was great paddling about and splashing and blowing bubbles in the water! I just wish OTL had remembered to bring the ball!

OK, Who had the ball last?
Holly was telling us about the time she entered the Rock Diving Competition and how she showed all the other competitors just how it should be done!

Me, I'm a Rock Diving Champion!
She said that she doesn't do it any more owing to her 'Bad Leg'!

Yeah! Right! Pull the other one Porkie!

Mind you, she did join me in the water for a splash about but at no time would she get her tummy wet!

Do I Look a Cool Dude or Wot?
She had a wander up and down the edge and at one time, forgot where she was and sat down in the water!

But not for long!

Now I got Wet Bits!

Back home Snowflake has been snoozing the day away. She says that the best thing a ferret can do in this weather is to retire to her 'Snoozy Place' and wait until the sun goes down!

We are all crossing our claws and wishing they confirm our place in the KCS race and OTL says that he will even bring along the Video Camera and take pictures!

Holly says that we should have the theme from Chariots of Fire played while watching Snowflake run!

See you tomorrow!

Luv,

Daisy, Holly & Snowflake

A Real SUNday!

Hi Woofers!

Daisy, Holly & 'Snowflake the Fast', back with you again.

This morning we went out with Snowflake on her training run and she decided, that, for a change, she would try some 'Cross Country Running'. That involves turning sharp left and diving into the long grass and undergrowth to follow a rat or rabbit path up the hill to the next Two Legs path. Then, turning sharp right, she follows that for a short distance then turns left again!

Snowflake thinks it is great fun, so do we, Old Two Legs is not too happy about it 'cos it kicks up all the pollen and starts off his sneezing again!

OTL says that he will put up with it if it means Snowflake wins the race!

There's dedication for you!

This morning was spent soaking up the rays and then moving to a shady spot, next to the pond!

What better way to spend a Sunday!

Lunch time comes and it's a bit of F1 Racing, not very exciting I will admit but it helps pass the time until our walkies!

Down on the Sea Wall it was packed with Two Legs, loads of them, I've never seen the car park so full!

Oh No! It's The Bozo's Again!
Holly spent time going along the path sniffing at every one of them to see if they had any food left and Old Two Legs kept calling her away!

I on the other paw decided that a quick dip would be the best idea before the tide went out!

Oops! This wave looks big!
Holly ran out of Two Legs to sniff a, so she decided to have a roll on a news paper that once held some of those worms the fishermen try to teach to swim!

Heaven is a Roll in Something Smelly!

OTL was lost chasing butterfly's around the place, this on, a Large Skipper, sat still long enough to get a photograph of it's back!

Large Skipper or Small Skipper?
Back home to fall asleep while the tennis is on, I mean, what a silly game, knocking the balls about with those bats!

The best thing would be to chase the ball and kill it!

See you tomorrow!

Luv,

Daisy, Holly & Snowflake

Hot and Hotter and Good Fun!

Hi Woofers!

Daisy, Holly & Snowflake back again.

This has been a 'Rush Around Day' today. First we were up good and early, about three thirty when I spotted a fox in our front garden and I started to woof to let everyone know.

Holly followed my lead and started to woof as well. The best bit was that The Missus started to woof at us all but forgot to mention the fox!

You know, there's no pleasing some Two Legs!

After Snowflakes run this morning we did some 'Sprint' starts with her, just to help get her off the line first!

We got back and it seemed like five minutes after our breakfast were were off again in the car. This time it was a combination of being a Taxi Service and Official Photographer to Tilly who was in the school sports today.

There were loads of Little Two Legs all running and chasing about. We followed Tilly around as she did the different sports, like running and climbing and throwing the javelin and that looked like a rocket to us!

Ready To Launch!

Then we were all cheering for all we were worth when she won the 'Egg & Spoon' race but it wasn't an egg but rather a small potato, but she came first and that's what matters!

Tilly Wins!

It was hot, very hot and even Old Two Legs had to wear a silly sun hat to stop his brain from boiling!

Back home and we have some visitors arriving soon, so I must dash, there is chicken on the menu tonight and we may get some as a treat!

See you tomorrow!

Luv,

Daisy, Holly & Snowflake

Fantastic Friday!

Hello Woofers!

It's the Terrible Trio again, Daisy, Holly & (Call me Slick) Snowflake!

Well hasn't the sun come out now? We were out good and early this morning with Snowflake and of course, all three of us wanted to go in different directions!

That got Old Two Legs confused, he didn't know which one to chase first!

When we finally got down to the beach, holly and I were in trouble but Miss Goody Two Paws, Snowflake The Good, she was still on her lead, so she couldn't really get into trouble!

Huh!

Off she went, tearing along the Sea Wall and Holly kept up while I stopped every so often for a sniff!

Back home, OTL was sneezing his head off, Pollen Count High Today, he even had a nose bleed, which is not unusual for OTL, his sneezes are like bombs going off!

Mind you, once Snowflake has gone to sleep you need a bomb to wake her up, maybe!

Bomb? Wot Bomb?
The morning was spent eating and sleeping, we do that best of all, OTL was up in the office, 'Engineering' and generally making loads of noise!

There was a delivery around lunch time, OTL had been waiting for this and before long he was off to deliver it himself. He tried sneaking out without telling us, silly OTL, he's got to be quicker than that!

Off we went and you know what? We stopped off in the New Park and you can guess where I headed!

Yep! Straight to the Swimming Hole!

It was SUPER!

I dived in and had a splash about, OTL was throwing small stones into the water expecting me to jump after them, silly OTL!

Then I spotted a couple of Bozo's playing with a ball and they looked like being bored with the ball. So, I thought I'd sneak in and pinch the ball before they spotted me.

Well, that was the plan.

If I'm Quick!
I started off towards the ball and thought I was going to get it but all of a sudden..........

Woof Off Shorty

Shorty? Blooming cheek from a Bozo like him!

Along came a young Labrador who had never seen water like this before. All the water he'd seen was swimming around his drinking bowl.

He went potty! in fact we decided that it would be best if we left the Swimming Hole to him and come back later!

WOW! This is GREAT!
OTL was doing his normal thing of diving into the grass to take photo's. Trouble was, every time he got close, he sneezed and blew the butterfly twenty feet away!

A Small Heath, about to get sneezed on!

I played a trick on Holly, 'cos I jumped onto the Wood Ball and said 'I spy with my eye, a Rabbit!'

I Spy!
Then I jumped  down and guess what?

Where? WHERE? WHERE?
Holly showed off and refused to show my any sniffs she found!

OTL was still playing with the insects and Flowers. The next two pictures look good, you can see the fly zooming in, the Bumblebee exiting and then the fly has landed and getting stuck in!

Landing Lights On!
Maybe next time he will take his macro lens so the pictures are sharper.

Grub Up!
It was getting really hot so Holly and I decided that the best place to be would be the Swimming Hole, so we turned around and headed that way!

This is Better!

We had a paddle and stayed long enough to have a drink and cool our paws!

Back home Snowflake was still snoozing, I've never known anyone to spend so much time asleep, even Holly!

Tomorrow it's going to be just as warm, so we will be looking for a shady spot in the garden!

See you tomorrow!

Luv,

Daisy, Holly & Snowflake the Snooze!
