A Ferret tries sniffing like a dog!

Hello Woofers!

Here we are again, Daisy, Holly, Miss Snowflake and Mr Brambles.

It was super and cool this morning, a gentle breeze blowing in off the North Sea. That means we can do a bit of running and chasing and Rabbit Hunting as well!

Mr Brambles even asked us to explain just what it is we are sniffing and what we look out for as we sniff.

Well, ask a dog about sniffs and the answer could last all week, and a bit more!

So, we tried the 'Simple Explanation'!

Now, first you approach from 'Up Wind'
I explained that if you approached from 'Down Wind' you may pick up other sniffs that had nothing to do with the post or tree.

Mr Brambles seemed to get that point!

You start at the top and work your way down the tree or post.
Holly took over and told Mr Brambles all about 'Following the Sniff' down the post and to make sure you gently sniff and not 'Snort' at the sniff!

Mr Brambles was following Holly's instructions but just couldn't get right up to the top or 'Start' of the sniff. He had a good try and stood on his hind legs but still wasn't tall enough!

Holly told him to try the area around the post 'cos some times doggy's 'Miss' the post!

Mr Brambles does the 'Perimeter Sniff'!
After that Old Two Legs picked Mr Brambles up and carried him the rest of the way to the beach. He asked OTL to check to see if there was a splinter in his nose 'cos he'd been sniffing close to the post!

I'm not sure but there is a sharp bit here!
OTL had a look but there was nothing there.

Down on the beach we were tearing up and down the beach having a great time. I even decided to try some 'Low Level Flying'

Zooooom!
On the way back Mr Brambles tried to explain how to sniff like a dog but Miss Snowflake wasn't listening, 'I'm a Ferret and a Ferret Sniffs Like This!'

I don't care, I Sniff Like This and This How a Ferret Sniffs!
Going back to the car OTL spotted a rabbit on the path and told Holly. Well, off she went like a Steam Train, pounding down the path, I was stopped waiting for any other rabbits who got spooked by Holly's charge and Mr Brambles was doing the 'Ferret Stalk', just in case there were

Rabbit Hunting, Woofer Style!

The Missus had cooked our Chicken, so when we got back it was 'Tail Up and Nose Down' followed by a snooze in the Office!

This is the way to spend a Sunday!

Now, I know you are going to be excited about this, the pond has been 'Maturing' over the last two years. There have been bugs living in the pond and plants have been growing in there as well. The Lily Plants we put in put on a show last year but this year they have been really growing well. The round leaves are much bigger than they have ever been and this week, the first bloom has opened and there are three other buds getting ready to open as well!

The first bloom this year!
Now, there is another section of the garden that OTL has been 'Nurturing' and that is the 'Wild Flower Corner'.

He put a plastic sheet over the patch for a year and expected that all the weeds had died. Next, throw in a couple of logs and a tree trunk from next door, drill some holes to make a home for bugs and finally, leave it to do it's own thing!

We expected loads of wild flowers and buzzing bees and creepy crawlies but it looks like, at the moment, to be a big weed patch with a couple of Poppies fighting for breathing space!

Well, he tried but we will see what happens next month!
We are now off to see what OTL has for dinner, being Fathers Day we are expecting it won't be burnt, whatever it is!

See you all tomorrow!

Luv,

Daisy, Holly, Miss Snowflake and Mr Brambles.

A cooler day, but it's still Muggy!

Hi Woofers!

We're back again, Daisy, Holly, Miss Snowflake and Mr Brambles.

Last night The Missus was out with some of her 'Glue & Glitter' mates. Old Two Legs had to play 'Taxi Driver' for the evening and of course we were late to bed!

Not that it allowed us to stay in bed a bit longer 'cos TM had us up early to get  all her stuff up the hall for another of her 'Master Classes'.

The only ones allowed an extra snooze were the ferrets!

Down on the beach the sun was hiding behind the clouds, which was OK by us, it was still muggy but we didn't have the heat of the sun on our backs.

Holly still said it was too hot to go running about all over the place!

No thanks, I'll just have a rest here!
The ferrets were happy that they could run along the Sea Wall without getting their paws roasted!

Come on Girl, get yer tail in gear!
Miss Snowflake was in a good mood 'cos she kept jumping on Mr Brambles back and nibbling his ear!

Come on, Gissa Cuddle!
Heading towards the car we spotted a rabbit on the path, Holly was off like a shot while I stayed back and watched. Of course, she didn't get anywhere near him before he disappeared into the bushes!

She'll never make it!
Back home to a bowl of Doggy Scoff! Well, we both had a sniff and decided to have a snooze instead, just what is she feeding us?

When we went down the beach at lunch time the tide was in and I was wondering about a swim but I decided that the lack of sun would mean I could be shivering by the time we got back to car!

So, I stayed out of the water and instead went to inspect the fish the fishermen had caught.

What a sorry sight!

It wouldn't make even a mouthful!

Last of the Monster Fish!
Further along I spotted a Bozo on the beach and he had Sarnies! By the time Holly had arrived he finished the last one!

Curses! Maybe next time we'll be lucky!

Quick Holly, he has a Sarnie!
We had a bit of a surprise later, there we were, sniffing the sniffs when Holly called out that she thought we were being stalked!

We're being followed!
Then, from out of nowhere there was a woofing and yelping as three Westies came crashing out of the undergrowth!

We caught you!
We weren't sure if we should run or stay!

Come on Gang, sniff them!
Holly and I soon worked out that they were friends and we had a fun five minutes. OTL got a 'Hello' from all of them and by the time the owner arrived they were all jumping up to lick OTL's nose!

There's another one here!
Of course, they wanted to play but the owner wanted to go the other way, so, out comes the lead and the older woofer got clipped on and of course, the other had to follow.

So it was Good Bye for now and see you next time!

See you again soon!
It was good to get home and have our afternoon snooze while OTL went to pick up TM.

I think that OTL has curry tonight, so that means we have got to be all big and brave and go back to the Doggy Scoff.

See you tomorrow!

Luv,

Daisy, Holly, Miss Snowflake and Mr Brambles.

Another swim and a Good Idea from Old Two Legs!

Hello Woofers!

Daisy, Holly, Miss Snowflake and Mr Brambles here again.

Another scorcher of a day! We were a bit late going out this morning so, when we got down to the beach it was a bit warmer than normal!

Now, the sand was still wet but Miss Snowflake was complaining that the sea shells were too hot and when she got to the Sea Wall, she said it was burning her paws!

This is just too hot to walk on!
Mr Brambles said that he had worked out how to overcome the heat, run!

Try running, it doesn't burn then!
The ferrets were ferreting through the grass and having a great time. Being so small, they can hide in the grass and stay cool, of course that means they are slower than us doggies and that means we get hotter than they do!

So? What's your problem?
Holly and I were having a rest by the side of the path at every bit of shade we could find!

Not that it bothered the ferrets, they were still snuffling their way along the grass!

I wish they would just get a move on!
Miss Snowflake kept on about being big wasn't all it was cracked up to be!

Small is better sometimes!
Mr Brambles was snuffling along not taking too much notice of us or Miss Snowflake!

I think I''ll have a rest in a minute or two!
Finally we got to the bench where there was a reasonable bit of shade but as soon as we got there, up comes Miss Snowflake telling us to 'Get a Move On'!

Don't look now but I think there's a ferret close!
Finally, the heat was getting to Mr Brambles and even he had to stop for a rest. OTL picked him up and carried him the rest of the way to the car where he dipped his nose in our water bowl then headed off to his travelling cage to snooze all the way home!

Back at home OTL wrapped a small blanket around a frozen block of stuff he keeps in the freezer. Both Mr Brambles and Miss Snowflake thought it was great and spent some time rolling on it and then snoozing by the side of it!

OTL says he thinks that's a winner when it gets too hot!

Lunchtime we had another winner! The tide was in and so was I!

Life doesn't get much better!
I had a great time, Holly on the other paw didn't fancy getting her paws wet, so she stayed on the shore and kept on asking if I'd finished yet!

A bit further up the Sea Wall we met a couple of Bozo's and Holly was moaning to the smaller dog about not getting wet and being too hot and she was agreeing with Holly!

They were just like a couple of old women gassing over the garden fence!

No Dear, I don't like the water on my paws either!
Holly even managed to get ahead so she could have a lay down under the Rabbit Bush, of course, all the rabbits were underground snoozing in the cool!

It is a good a place as any to have a rest!
Back home we were in the garden, having a snooze in the shade of the tree and listening to the water fountain tinkle away.

Quite restful really!

So, I'm off the finish off the Ox Heart and then do some mugging!

See you tomorrow!

Luv,

Daisy, Holly, Miss Snowflake and Mr Brambles.

A Day with OTL.

Hi Woofers!

Daisy, Holly, Miss Snowflake and Mr Brambles here!

Phew! What a day!  Another hot and sunny day!

It was OK this morning, not too hot, sunny, but with a very slight breeze off the sea.

We were in a lazy sort of mood, unlike the caterpillar that was tearing across the path in front of us!

Busy, Busy, Can't Stop, Too Busy!
Miss Snowflake was going to have a sniff but Old Two Legs said that you have to be careful of the hairs, they may make your nose sore!

Miss Snowflake was in a silly mood, OTL put her down on the beach, the sandy bit and she took one look and rushed back to OTL who was kneeling down. He allowed her to climb up his leg and onto his lap where he gave her a stroke and said that she had to have a run on the sand to keep fit.

It was at that point that she turned around and gave him a little 'Love Bite' on his arm, indicating that 'Down on the Sand' was not the place she wanted to be!

I don't like the sand, it gets in my paws!
Once off the beach she was all full of fun and games. She was chasing us and even had look up OTL's trouser leg as he was kneeling down picking up Holly's poo!

Then she dived over to Mr Brambles and chased him about trying to lick his ear!

GoOngissalickofyerear!
Holly and I were just too hot to rush about and we were taking the time to have a rest while the ferrets caught up with us.

No, I don't see any rabbits and even if I did I would pretend they aren't there!
Back home, The Missus had gone out to the Village Hall for one of her 'Midweek Crops' so we had a gentle day with OTL to look forward too.

The first place was under his desk for a snooze in the shade!

One of our favourite places!

Lunch time we had some stuff to deliver but not before we had another walk along the beach and guess what?

The tide was in! Of course there were the normal Fishermen who were catching nothing, as usual!

No Fish, No Sarnies!
I was straight in and splashing about. OTL found this large sort of log type stick and we had a good game of 'Swimming'!

Me and my Periscope!
After finishing the swimming I went of in search of sarnies and guess what? I found a Bozo who hadn't eaten all of his lunch!

I called over to Holly who was suffering from not having a cooling swim but she said she just couldn't be bothered!

Holly! A Bozo with a Sarnie!
I think that Holly was just wanting to get back home and some shade!

This is just Too Hot!
I must admit, there were some cool spots at home and we crashed out again until TM came back!

Not sure what OTL's got for dinner tonight, lets just hope it's not salad, it's nearly as bad as Doggy Scoff!

See you tomorrow!

Luv,

Daisy, Holly, Miss Snowflake and Mr Brambles.

Another Snoozy Sunny Day!

Hello Woofers!

Here we are again, Daisy, Holly, Miss Snowflake and Mr Brambles!

Last night, after six, Old Two Legs got a telephone call from a 'Witheld Number'. Now normally that means it is someone selling something or trying to get him to claim for injuries sustained in a car accident two years ago, never mind he didn't get hurt at all!

This time it wasn't any of the above, it was The Vet!

We were all in the office with OTL and the moment he said 'Hello Vet' we were all ears!

It seems that OTL has got a reputation down at the vets for ferret things! The visits are made to the vet with the ferrets in the travelling cage and OTL clutching a bottle of Ferretone!

The vet said that the bottle of stuff (Ferretone) OTL waves about makes the ferrets ignore what the vet is trying to do (Stab them with needles!) and concentrate of licking the Ferretone bottle lid.

He said that the ferrets were 'Very Well Behaved Ferrets' and he had someone who had just got a ferret that wouldn't let anyone near it without trying to sink it's fangs into their hand!

Of course, the ferrets were dancing around the cage singing out about how wonderful they were and it was 'Official' from The Vet!

Holly and I tried to ignore it and I said I would give him a nip Ferretone or no Ferretone!

This morning, as we were heading down to the beach, Holly and I were sniffing about looking for rabbits when OTL gives us the 'Look Over There' call and points up the hill. Holly does a quick look at OTL and thinks he is pointing up the other path and heads off that way. OTL was in fact pointing at a fox at the top of the hill who, on seeing us and OTL, decides that scarpering is the best idea he's had today, and immediately legs it back to the undergrowth where he normally hides!

Soppy Holly Strikes Again!
Down on the beach, the tide had yet to come in, so, Holly and I played 'Chicken' on the beach. The game involves running towards each other at top speed and see who gets out of the way first!

I normally win 'cos right at the last moment I sort of 'Drift' to one side and Holly tries to correct the trajectory but ends up skidding across the beach!

I win! Your The Chicken!
We both did that a few times but in the end we were both just too out of breath and too hot to play any more!

I've just Got to have a rest!
Lunchtime it was The Missus who took us out and again we had all this 'Come Here' and 'Stop Sniffing That' and 'No, you Can't Roll in That'!

Boring or what!

OTL went off to the optician who checked OTL's eyes and announced that there was a cataract growing very nicely and it was a 'Boarderline Case' if he wanted to get the operation done now. OTL, being the wimp he is, said he would leave it for six months and see what happens.

Like it's going to get better!

Still, it could have been worse, it could have been macular degeneration like wot his father had!

So, OTL is back home and a Happy Bunny!

I wonder if he can do anything about the Doggy Scoff we got served with today?

See you tomorrow!

Luv,

Daisy, Holly, Miss Snowflake and Mr Brambles.

This is the life!

Hi Woofers!

Daisy, Holly, Miss Snowflake and Mr Brambles here!

Another warm and sunny day today! You know it was difficult sleeping last night. It was too hot and of course those pesky Bozo Cats didn't help, stomping around in the garden, having a party while we were trying to sleep!

Well, being guard dogs we just had to warn the household there were cats about!

We warned at one fifteen and then at two thirty and then again at four. By then The Missus had got up and chased the cats off herself!

That means we could go back to sleep, safe in the knowledge that TM was 'On Guard' for us!

Of course, we were up earlier than normal so we dragged Old Two Legs out and we were in the car and down to the beach for another early morning swim.

Unfortunately, the tide was out so we could only watch the ships go by!

This in not another Ethereal Thingy, it's a Photoshop muck around by OTL!
Holly and I had a game of 'Streak' along the beach and this involves running as fast as we can along the whole sandy bit!

A Beach Streak!
Normally we leave this game until the weather is a little cooler but today it just seemed to be right for a streak!

It was OK to start with but we soon became too hot to streak and headed instead for the shade of a bench!
That was too exhausting to carry on!
The ferrets didn't join in our streak, instead they spent there time sniffing the grass and investigating mouse holes and stoat poo!

Mr Brambles was demonstrating a technique he learnt while he was in the SFS (Special Ferret Service) where he helped develop the 'Silent Stalking Method'!

If it wasn't for his harness rattling you would never hear him creep up behind you!
Both he and Miss Snowflake were investigating all the sniffs all the way back to the car, so we had plenty of time to hunt out the shady bits all the way back to the car!

Those Dogs have no stamina!
Back home it was chicken and biscuits for breakfast and a snooze, in between OTL sneezing his head off!

That hay fever really gets him making loads of sneezy noises!

Midday we were down the beach again and today TM came with us!

Every time we stopped for a sniff or a wee she kept calling us to 'Keep Up'! I tell you, walking with OTL is much more fun, at least he only shouts when we try to roll in a sniff!

Back home it was snoozy time, too hot to do anything else!

Even OTL crashed out and had a snooze!

Mind you, tomorrow is going to be busy, loads of stuff expected to be delivered and then OTL off to the optician to have his eyes tested. The first test is to see if he has one either side of his nose. The way he has been sneezing we are expecting either his nose to fall off or land on top of his head!

See you tomorrow!

Luv,

Daisy, Holly, Miss Snowflake and Mr Brambles.

Another Hot One!

Hi Woofers!

Phew! A hot Daisy, Holly, Miss Snowflake and Mr Brambles here!

It has been really just too hot today. Down in the South we get all the hot weather and there are times when we could do without it being so hot!

Like, this morning we were off good and early, Mr Brambles was asleep still it he ferret bag and Miss Snowflake had climbed out and onto Old Two Legs arm. There she was sniffing the sniffs, all tucked up good and cosy in OTL's arm when she got a need for a wee and forgot she was in OTL's arm. So, she did a wee all over his arm! He said that warm and wet feeling was instantly recognisable!

We got down on the beach and the first thing I did was to rush into the sea for a cooling splash!

Naughty..........but nice!
Mind you, when I came out I was a bit of a 'Damp Doggy' but a good roll in the sand soon got off most of the water and a good shake got off most of the sand and a good roll in the sand again got me covered in a real smelly sniff!

A Damp Doggy with a real Whiff!
When I got home The Missus had to give me a wash down, just to get rid of the sniff!

Spoil Sport!

OX Heart for breakfast, but it was just too hot to eat, so I've left mine until later this afternoon. Holly, on the other paw was 'Nose Down and Tail Up' and woofed it all down, greed puppy!

OTL had to go out delivering, so we sneaked into the car while he wasn't looking! We had to pass the Riverside Park, so, guess where we parked up!

The first thing we came across was the boat that was wrecked last year, you know, they still haven't moved it yet!

I still say we could mend it!
The walk along the beach was very hot, especially as the tide was out and there was no water to splash in! OTL even kept us out of the mud!

I reckon it died of thirst!
The path was all dusty and there was no water to drink! It was really tiring getting back to the car!

.....are we there yet?
Holly was a bit slow, so I just collapsed on the path waiting for to catch up. I did my 'Poor Daisy' look but OTL wouldn't pick me up and carry me back, he said it was unfair on Holly!

I just don't think I can make it back!
Once we got back home we just crashed out in the shade while OTL carried on!

Not sure what he has for dinner tonight but it may be a salad of some sort, TM does this to him and claims it is 'Good for Him', OTL doesn't agree with her!

See you tomorrow!

Luv,

Daisy, Holly, Miss Snowflake and Mr Brambles (Still Asleep)
