Sunday Fun with Holly.

Hello Woofers!

Daisy & Holly here!

Have we been good dogs or wot!

As you know, we take our job of 'Guarding' seriously and go out on 'Patrol' around the house every two hours or so. Well, this morning around four fifteen, The Missus had got up, and we had followed her down stairs for an early 'morning wee'.

We got to the kitchen door and heard something in the garden that shouldn't be there! That was it, as soon as the door was opened, we shot out, doing our 'Attack Woof' and shot up the garden path.

Both of us carried on the 'Woof' and went crashing around the back of the shed, bouncing off the fence panels and tripping over the plant pots Old Two Legs had left there!

I'm not too sure what it was we were chasing but Holly reckons it could have been a Fox!

TM called us back in 'cos all down the houses lights were going on and people were getting up to see what all the fuss was about!

Holly just loves an audience!

Well, we left TM down stairs and went back up to OTL for a cuddle and a snooze before he got up to take us out for our morning walk.

Down on The Sea Wall we started off with a little 'Rat Hunting' near the rats nest but although we can sniff them we couldn't flush any into the open.

I can sniff Ratty!
Holly was up for some fun and we chased each other along the Sea Wall and OTL even got the ball out and threw it for me. He still managed to bounce it onto the beach, he really is not getting any better at throwing!

Holly with the Pickle in her this morning!
OTL was getting all soppy with his camera playing about with the light and trying to improve on his 'Sunrise' pictures. Maybe he will do better next time!

OK, but room for improvement!
We were running and jumping around and generally having fun when we heard a big noise up ahead that sounded like a doggy was having an argument with someone! We couldn't see them but we thought it would be a good idea to keep an eye open for any sudden movement 'cos we could get involved in a ruckus without meaning to!

Sounds like Trouble!
We never saw what was happening, which is OK by us!

After we got back home, OTL gave us a brush and we then wandered off to get some breakfast, Doggy Scoff!

Oh no, it was back to dried biscuits and see if we can mug OTL for some of his lunch!

It was good and sunny when we went out at lunch time, well not blazing sunshine but not too bad!

We spotted the fishermen on the beach and asked them if they had any food 'cos all we had at home was Doggy Scoff but they had eaten their lunch, so no luck there!

Hey! Got any......?
I asked OTL to get the ball out and he threw it down the path, as normal, it went all over the place but I managed to catch it and rush off into the grass with it!

He came and picked it up and threw it again, but this time, it bounced on the path, then on the steps, then on the beach and finally it went Splash, straight in the sea!

Well, what could I do? In I went and tried to fetch it back out but the tide had turned and slowly it started to drift out to sea, with me getting deeper and deeper in the water, that was until OTL called me out. Which was just as well 'cos my paws had come off the bottom!

When you look at it you can see the tide was right up the beach and this beach is a bit steep!

The Tides Right in today!

Well I was soaked right up to my collar and it was getting a bit cold!

OTL spotted that and we all had a jog along the Sea Wall, that was until OTL spotted a Cormorant that had just caught it's lunch, a nice sized Bass!

Lunch!
Then it started to swallow it!

Going Down!
It dropped it a couple of times but in the end it went down, head first and without chewing!

Nearly Gone!
It was a mighty big fish and I bet the fishermen would be pleased if their worm came back with one of that size!

Holly was speculating on what the Bass tasted like but in the end agreed it would be nothing like chicken!

Back in the car OTL gave me a good rubbing down with a Doggy Towel he had brought with with us.

Good old OTL!

Back home I curled up in the day bed and had a good snooze, I mean, all this 'Cross Channel Swimming' can be very tiring!

See you tomorrow!

Daisy & Holly

Saturday with Old Two Legs

Hi Woofers!

Daisy & Holly here again!

Today is the 'Crop' that The Missus runs in our local village hall and it is the start of Christmas as far as she is concerned!

She has been making cards for all the members and every one is hand crafted by herself to create an individual card, or as Old Two Legs says, 'Every one has a different mistake!'

We were up early this morning as TM was crashing around in the kitchen and making such a din that no one could sleep!

We even managed to get OTL out of bed early for our morning walk!

It was fun playing 'Chase The Ball' along the sea front and several times the ball bounced onto the beach and guess who had to go and get it!

Me doing the Fetch bit!
Mine you, I get my own back by rushing off into the grass and put it down while I have a chew of some grass, just wind OTL up!

We spotted the Little Egret searching for his breakfast of prawns and mollusc's.

Here Prawny, Prawny!
We headed back home and got there just in time to see Auntie Sheila and TM drive off to the crop.

After our Lambs Heart breakfast we had a snooze in our day beds while OTL was playing around with the heated towel rail that was not getting as hot as he remembered it should. Not OTL is not a plumber, nor is he a heating engineer, so you can imagine the fun he was having!

He tried 'Bleeding The System' that involved holding a plastic bottle under the vent in the radiator while some air and water came out. Which was OK 'cos the towel rail warmed up but an hour or two after he finished, it started to cool down, so that didn't work!

Next he was in the heating cupboard fiddling around with the controls but that didn't seem to do much for the towel rail either!

I think tomorrow he is going to get the instruction manual out and have a read to find out a cure!

Well, that lot took up to lunch time and to stop him getting frustrated, we decided to go for our lunch time walk.

We noticed the tide was right in, in fact it was so far in that we reckon it must be a Spring Tide and the sea was going under the beach and blowing bubbles in the water at the top of the beach!

Hubble Dubble Boil & Bubble!
OTL was still as useless at throwing the ball straight, so there I was, on the beach again doing the 'Fetch' bit!

I'm getting fed up with this!
Holly didn't do any ball chasing 'cos as she says 'She doesn't do balls', so she just wandered along sniffin the sniffs and commenting on how OTL should take lessons in ball tossing!

Even I could do better than him!
As we got near to the car, we met up with Jack who had found some fox wee he had rolled in and was just getting to the part where he tells us where it is, when his owners called him away!

OK, you need to go past the bench and table and..............
Looks like we are on our own now, so tomorrow it is 'Hunt the Fox Wee' and hope we find it before OTL works out why we are rolling about on the ground!

It wasn't long before TM returned from her crop and we both gave her a good 'Welcome Home Lick', that is Holly and I did, OTL just carried all her stuff in!

He knows his place!

Now, tonight we have a problem, OTL has got curry for dinner and while we like the Nan Bread, we are not too keen on the curry, mainly because it is a bit spicy on our tongues!

So, that means an all out attack on TM 'cos we know she doesn't like curry, so she may have something we both like!

See you tomorrow!

Luv,

Daisy & Holly

Wet & Windy!

Hello Woofers!

Daisy & Holly here!

Before I start, Holly says 'Thank You' to all of you who sent 'Get Well Soon' messages and just to let you know she feels much better today!

Just to prove it, she was out for the morning walk along The Sea Wall, all dressed up in her coat and sniffin every sniff she missed yesterday!

Holly Speed Sniffin!
We met up with Barney again and had a good game of 'Chase His Ball' and even Holly joined in for a while, which is a bit unusual 'cos as you know, Holly 'Doesn't Do Balls'!

Me, with Barney's Ball!
Barney said his leg is all better now and to prove it he did a racing start to chase the ball that Old Two Legs had thrown for us!

The tide was on it's way in and the birds were out in force this morning, it's not often you see so many in one spot!

Birdy Breakfast!
We even spotted a ship moored up close to the mud flats, Holly thought it had run aground but OTL said that it was out in the safe channel, which is good as far as we are concerned!

It was only when we got home and had a close look at the picture did we see that in fact it was Two Ships!

One was the Mark Prior and the other was the Bert Prior. We reckoned they stopped for a tea break before going onto the next job!

Mark & Bert!
We were late having our afternoon walk, in fact, we didn't get out until half past three which was really late!

The sun had all but set so there wasn't much light for taking pictures, not that would stop OTL from having a go!

So, here is Sheerness Docks by Lamplight!

Sheerness Docks by Lamplight!
This one is Southend on Sea.

Southend on Sea, that is in South Essex!
Now, for the technically minded and those who want to look as though they know what they are doing (OTL for one!)

The Southend photo camera settings were:-

Hand Held Camera 1/100 sec at f/5.6 ISO 4000 Focal Length 300mm

Now, aren't you glad we told you that?

Now we are off to mug OTL 'cos he has just been called to dinner!

See you tomorrow!

Not so Frosty Today

Hello Woofers!

Daisy & Holly back again!

We were out this morning a little later than usual 'cos Old Two Legs was on the phone talking to one of his customers!

The frost was not so heavy as yesterday but it was still a bit nippy! There was ice on The Sea Wall and along the path as well. OTL was still trying to capture the light as the sun climbed higher into the sky!

Look! Sheerness appears again!
Holly was spending a long time with her nose in the air sampling the sniffs on the breeze, trouble was, the breeze was almost gone, but, she still said there were some interesting things there, like, Bacon and Mushroom and Fried Egg and Fried Bread and Heinz Beans from the road side cafe on the Sheerness Docks!

What a Nose she's got!

Mmmm, Breakfast!
She spent so long sampling the sniffs that OTL and I got miles ahead of her and when she suddenly realized we were almost out of sight!

I've not seen her run so fast for ages!

Holly at twenty miles an hour!
When we got up to the top path there was a big woof from ahead of us and that big bozo of a Labrador came bounding down the hill to give OTL a cuddle! Blow me down but as soon as he left us we heard, 'Hellooo Girlie's!' and there was Barney bounding along the path!

Hello OTL!
Hello Girlie's!

Hey Girlie's he said, I've been house bound for the last week, sprained leg you see, too much running around on the ice! I'm OK now but still have to slow down a bit!

Then he went charging off after his ball!

So much for taking it easy!

My butt is getting cold!
While OTL was having a chat with Barney's owner, Holly sat down to wait and said that she wasn't feeling very bright and how can we get OTL to get a move on!

It wasn't too long before we headed back to the car and onto home. OTL gave Holly a brush and when it came to the Puppy Choc Drops we get after a brush, Holly said that she didn't feel like them and refused! Now that is not like my sister, any food, she would be first in line!

Off she went and we both declined the Doggy Scoff that The Missus had put down for us, and both of us headed up to our day beds and spent the morning snoozing!

Lunch time came and Holly was still not in a good mood, in fact she declined a walk, preferring to stay in bed to continue her snooze!

OTL and I headed off to The Sea Wall again and we had some fun with me chasing the ball and OTL trying to keep in on the path!

I was having a sniff along the wall when I heard a woofing back down the path and I spotted Archie who is a bit of a Scruff Bag but a nice lad really. In fact, I think Holly fancies him 'cos she is always discussing sniffs with him every time we meet!

Hey, is that Archie?
He asked that we pass on his best wishes to Holly and hope that she feels better soon.

We came across that big fungi that OTL was hoping to photograph when it got bigger but it looks like some one has bumped into it and broke it off at the bottom!

Ooops!
So, back home we got a welcome from Holly, it seems she stayed in bed while OTL and I were out and after that she got up on the sofa and went back to sleep again!

I must admit, I joined her and we both had a snooze that lasted until dinner time, OTL's dinner that is!

TM has just called him to come down to dinner, so, we are off to do some serious mugging, it sniffs like Gammon tonight!

See you tomorrow!

Daisy & Holly

Our First Christmas Tree!

Hi Woofers!

Daisy & Holly here!

Wow! What a start to the day, we had a look out of the window first thing and saw everything covered in thick frost!

Old Two Legs had to get the car started and warmed up before we were allowed inside 'cos it was too cold. In fact, OTL said that it was minus four and a half degrees!

Seriously cold!

Down on The Sea Wall it was just as frosty!

Just look at this lot!
OTL was all excited and started to snap away at the frost covered weeds and grass!

Frozen Weeds!
Then of course there was even more frozen weeds to photograph!

More frosty weeds!
Holly spotted it first, 'Here' she said, 'The Sea is frozen!'

Wot?

'The Sea is Frozen!'

So, we all rushed down to the shore and Holly was right, it was all icy and there were piles of ice washed up on the beach!

Frozen Sea!
We had never seen that before, even when it has been snowy!

Holly and I had a super time running through the grass, chasing each other and rolling in the frosty grass! Even OTL was having fun chasing us and trying to stop us rolling in the frozen sniffs!

Let's roll in this one as well!
You know, the ice was all along the beach and as the tide was coming in, the ice was building up on the beach!

Watch out for the Icebergs!
When we turned the corner and looked across to Sheerness, it had disappeared! I mean there was nothing but ice, mist and frost!

Sheerness's Gone!
Well, that was it, no Sheerness, no Birds, no Woofers and my tail was getting cold!

So, with OTL clicking away at the last of the frost covered weeds we headed back to the car!

Last of the Frozen Weeds
Off home to get some Chicken and Biscuits for breakfast!

Lunch time came and we were a bit worried in case the frost had got any worse but we stuck our nose out of the front door and found it had all gone!

Well, the only decision to make is where next? We could go down to The Forest again but Holly said that she was getting bored with squirrels! The Farm would be too muddy even if there were some badger holes to have a sniff at! So, we decided the only place to go is The New Park! We will be able to have a run, chase balls and meet some of our old friends!

Me, Ball Chasing!
It was great fun chasing the ball then running off into the grass and pretend to hide it from OTL, that means he has to walk into the grass areas and chase me to get the ball back!

Holly met up with the two Greyhounds that came from a Rescue Centre, they were having a good run about and said they were looking forward to Christmas!

Hello Holly Dog!
As we were following the horse trail we came across a Christmas Tree, yes, there it was a tree growing in the park and it was all dressed up in Christmas decorations!

It looked super!

First Christmas Tree!
Heading back to the car we came across a young Pug who had a sort of jumper on to keep him warm! Holly said that it looked good on him but didn't fancy it for herself!

The Pug said his name was Geoffrey and he enjoyed a good game of chase, then he set about chasing me and then Holly!

I got a bit fed up with it and jumped up onto OTL's lap and gave Geoffrey a big Grumble and then I woofed at him!

Come on, let's play Chase!
Back home we both crashed out in our Day Beds, it's hard work enjoying yourself you know!

OTL has got Sweet & Sour Pork tonight, so we are up to do some serious mugging!

See you tomorrow!

Luv,

Daisy & Holly

Husky Baiting and Squirrel Hunting!

Hi Woofers!

Daisy & Holly here.

What a day, it has been fun, fun, fun all day long!

It started this morning when both Holly and I decided that Old Two Legs had been asleep for enough time to 'recharge his batteries' and he should be up and running around like what we were!

So, about half four, we both jumped up on the bed and gave his ears a good licking! I've never seen him move so fast so early in the morning and he disappeared under the duvet like a ferret down a rabbit hole!

We left him alone for a while and joined The Missus down stairs on the sofa. Holly decided that she wanted a wander around the garden again and off she went for her early morning stroll in the frosty undergrowth.

It was then that she found this very old fossilised chew that must have been out there for years, it was black and smelly and covered with mold! Hey! Why don't we give this to OTL for an early morning present and off she ran up to OTL who was still snoring in bed. Well, Holly didn't want to wake him again, so she left it on his pillow for when he woke up!

You should have heard him! We are still unsure if he was pleased or furious!

Who knows, he may not like a fossilised chew!

Still, we didn't hold it against him 'cos Two Legs have a different idea of what sniffs good, let's face it, he loves the sniff of whisky and we just HATE that!

Our early morning walk was really good, you see we met up with this fisherman who had his young Husky with him but the Husky was on a lead and tied to the railings. Now this means that he can only move as far as the end of the lead, which wasn't very far. So, being sneaky puppies, we stood just far enough back so that when he rushed forward, the lead stopped him about two inches from where we stood!

It was great fun blowing raspberries at him and watching him come to a sudden stop as he lunged at us!

Come on, let me off the lead, just for a little nibble of the fat one!

We thought that was a great laugh and the Husky didn't seem to get too upset about not being able to eat us!

Next time puppies, Next Time!
We scampered off and a bit further on we spotted another camera nut, just like OTL, except this one was sitting on the Sea Wall taking pictures of the waves!

Shall we run down to the water and Wave at him?

Holly thinks that most of the Two Legs are a bit strange, who in their right mind wants to sit on a cold path and take pictures of tiddly little waves!

...are they all Potty?

Back home it was Lambs Heart and biscuits which was really good and super tasty, better than the Doggy Scoff!

Lunch time came too quickly, seems that I only closed my eyes for a five minute snooze when OTL was rattling his car keys and asking 'Walkies?'

Bless him, we landed back down The Forrest again, which is fine by us two any day!

Holly got there and was first to go snuffling about in the leaves looking for new sniffs.

Spot the leaf on her chin!
OTL was snuffling about as well and got all excited about the frost that was still on the leaves that the sun had yet to find!

Frosty Leaves.
Holly had a chat with Arthur about the sniffs and he put her onto a new sniff he found that said there were squirrels out today!

Second oak tree on the left, 'LoadsaSquirrels!'
Off we went and sure enough, I spotted one on the ground looking for his nut hoard, so he didn't see me until the last moment!

You should have seen him move!

I nearly had him then!
Holly and I hunted some more but they were up in the trees and didn't really give us a chance of catching them. Then OTL spotted one and gave the 'Fisss' sound which means 'Look, Squirrel Sport!' so we stopped and looked to where his nose was pointing!

Fisssss There!
Well, we flew over there like Rocket Powered Puppies! That squirrel was nearly caught but he had 'Vertical Take Off Legs' and just sprang up into the air and disappeared!

Well, that was it, we decided to leave the rest of them alone while we continued our walk and enjoy the sniffs instead!

Back home we finished of the rest of the Lambs Heart that was in our bowls and now we are looking forward to mugging OTL for a bit of his Bambi Burger dipped in eggy yoke!

See you tomorrow!

Luv,

Daisy & Holly
