Skomer is Shut Again!

Yacky Dar Woofers!

We're back again, Daisy, Holly, Miss Snowflake and Mr Brambles.

We've had some fun today!

We went out for our morning stroll along the beach with Old Two Legs and the ferrets. The ferrets were in a right 'Fidget Mood' and  wouldn't stay in their Ferret Bag, so OTL had to put us all in the car and drive to the beach!

He even had to leave the camera in the car 'cos Holy and I were 'acting up' as well!

We found some more Nelly Fish on the beach and Mr Bramble dug a whacking great hole while Snowflake was climbing up the rocks!

OTL had to put Holly on the lead 'cos she was looking towards one of the houses that fronts onto the beach and yesterday we both went and investigated it, even though it had a notice saying 'Private, Keep Out'!

Not that Holly or I take any notice of those signs anyway!

Back at the caravan OTL got the ferrets all sorted out and then announced that he was 'Off to look at Skomer'!

'Right' says Holly and I and we both jumped into the car!

Off we went and before long OTL had pay some money just to cross a bridge!

We drove for about an hour through the country lanes and finally landed at the car park for Skomer Island Boat Trips.

First of all we were jumped on by a couple of ladies from the National Trust who demanded five pounds for us to park the car.

OTL had a little snivel and told them he had paid last time but they still wouldn't allow him in until he handed over the money!

Then he left us in the car and went down to the boat house to see if they were going to run any boats to Skomer today, no!

Well what about tomorrow?

No, don't think so, maybe Thursday.

Thursday is no good 'cos we're getting packed to move off to Cirencester on Friday!

So it's fingers and claws crossed for Wednesday!

We were told that we could have a walk over the headland and have a look at Skomer from the cliff tops.

Off we set, the wind was blowing a good gale off the Irish Sea and OTL insisted on us wearing our harnesses and lead, just in case we got too close to the cliff edge!

As if!

As we got onto the headland and looked down at the sea it didn't seem too rough and Holly said that even she could sail a boat down there!

Doesn't look too bad!
Then we went around the headland a bit further, the wind started to blow a bit stronger and the sea looked like it was rushing past the rocks!

Mmm, Well, Maybe Not today!
Holly, being all brave says 'Come on, let's look over the cliff edge up there!'

Bet you can see a lot from there!
Oh My! Yes we could see a lot. A lot of white water around some nasty looking rocks between us and Skomer Island!

Looks like a bit of a tide running down there!
OTL zoomed in with his camera and you could see how the water was rushing past the rocks!

A real Tide Race!
We went further around the head and looked down to see a seal in the water below, but it was just too far to see what sort it was and on top of that we weren't planning on getting too close to the edge!

Well, it's a black looking lump and it's eating a fish, so it must be a seal or maybe TM in her swimming costume!
On the way back I was 'Speed Sniffing' from the window which is always great fun. Holly tied to get her nose in as well but I wouldn't give up my place at the window, so she showed off and went to sleep on the cushion in the back of the car!

Tomorrow, OTL has to telephone the boat people to see if they will be running any boats, so we still don't know if OTL is going to get his Puffin Shots!

See you tomorrow!

Luv,

Daisy, Holly, Miss Snowflake and Mr Brambles.

The Rain Pours Down and OTL is Puffinless!

Yacky Dar Woofers!

We're back! Daisy, Holly, Miss Snowflake and Mr Brambles.

You know how Old Two Legs was getting all excited about visiting the Puffins? Well, around three this morning the rain started and it came down in Torrents!

There was so much rain running off the roof that the front windows on the caravan were doing a very good impression if Niagara Falls!

You just couldn't see past the rain!

OTL decided that today would not be a good day for Puffins and rolled over and went back to sleep again!

Well, it was too wet to go out walking at our normal time and both ferrets said they were going back to bed!

Holly and I stayed on the bed and didn't make any move to go out for a wee!

OTL had to do all his chores with his Big Boots and a Basher on!

Around ten it started to ease off a bit and we were persuaded to go out for a walk on the beach with OTL.

There were more Nelly Fish washed up on the beach and the rain started again!

Holly and I hung on for a bit, then after doing our 'Business', Holly said that she wasn't going to hang about any more and legged it back to the car park.

Wrong!

She had forgotten that we had walked up there instead of bringing the car!

When we got to her she was a very happy puppy 'cos we were there but a bit wet and soggy!

Back at the caravan we got a good rub down, our wet collars taken off to dry and then had breakfast of freshly cooked chicken!

Now, OTL has rescheduled the Puffin trip for Wednesday, so fingers crossed for that!

The TV has not been performing as it should, the controller has given up the ghost and although we can get satellite TV, we can't change channels!

That's OK but Sky News 24hrs a day can get a bit boring!

So, The Missus, being good at the 'Instructions' gave him orders to head off to the local Tesco to get another TV and make sure it plays DVD's and will work with the satellite dish!

He was crying all the way back to the caravan!

This afternoon he has been installing it all!

Can you imagine OTL with Two Controllers, one in each hand trying to set up each box plus confirm he was getting an Astra 2 signal?

Huge fun and loads of woofs from him!

Finally it all came together and he has thrown the instructions away!

By the time all that was finished, the sun came out and we headed for the beach.

The stream across the beach was flooded because of the rain, so I went for a paddle across it, just to wash the sand off my legs. Miss Holly Dog got as far as her knees and  headed back to the path!

One step further and I'll get me bits wet!
I told her not to be such a Fairy and  come and see how much fun it can be but you know Holly........

I don't do wet!
I must say, the rain kept most of the two legs off the beach which is good as far as I'm concerned 'cos I don't like it when there are too many messing up the place!

I hate it when it gets too crowded!
Now, this morning Holly had been naughty by running off 'cos of the rain, so this time, when Holly stopped and looked over her shoulder, OTL was there with the lead and she got clipped on for a short while until she got the message!

Holly went off digging some holes while OTL sat on a rock to watch the clouds.

Mind you, when OTL asked if she had been digging in the sand, she told porkies and said that she hadn't, even though there was a ton hanging from her chops!

Sand? Wot Me? Noooo?
We met some other woofers on the way back and we got told about a super sniff down by the bike rack!
Yeah, just behind the bike rack!
Back at the caravan The Missus has been 'Creative' and finished a canvas thingy with loads of splodges all over the place, the canvas, her hands, the table, the floor, the ceiling, the caravan, and a passing ferret who wasn't quick enough!

Snowflake said she will get her own back, just wait until TM is in the shower, Snowflake will be in under the door and nick her 'Granny Draws' and rush around the caravan site with them, on her head pretending to be a ghost!

Not sure what we are doing tomorrow, going out on the beaches we hope, providing there isn't too much rain!

Now, Mike and Sue are up in Anglesey, also known by its Welsh name Ynys Môn, and it was up there that the Druids got chased around by the Romans. So Sue had better watch out 'cos there are a few Druids left and we hear they are growing in number!

See you all tomorrow!

Luv,

Daisy, Holly, Miss Snowflake and Mr Brambles.

More Nelly Fish and Rock Climbing and then The National Trust!

Yacky Dar Woofers!

Daisy, Holly, Miss Snowflake and Mr Brambles here!

We were up a bit late this morning but we didn't worry too much, as it is Sunday. Down on the beach we spotted four more of those Gigantic Nelly Fish, parked up on the High Tide mark on the beach.

We reckon they must get lost during the night and get stranded on the beach, silly Nelly Fish!

Mr Brambles just loves the beach near us 'cos it is so sandy and he can dig to his little hearts content!

I just Love a good Sand Hole!
Of course, Miss Snowflake can't keep away from the rocks, she says that these are the best ones she has ever climbed and so much better that the one we have at home. In fact, she has asked Old Two Legs if we could take a section of the cliff face home with us.

I can just see it, a section of Welsh Cliff Face on top of the caravan roof and held down with rope and elastic bands!

I love this bit!
Before we came away on holiday, OTL trimmed both ferrets claws. Now Mr Brambles is OK with that 'cos he doesn't need claws to dig sand but Snowflake reckons she could do with her claws just a little longer so she can get a better grip on the rocks!

Holly and I have a little dig but don't really go in for the rock climbing bit, we would rather have a Rough and Tumble over a stick we found on the beach.

Brambles asked if he could join in the game as well!

You can play if you want but it's gonna get rough!
 And so it did!

Snowflake was almost at the top of the ledge and had got to the end of her rope, so, OTL had to pick her off the rock face, tell her she was a clever little ferret and put her at the bottom of the next rock wall!

Nearly there and when I get there, where next?
When we got back to the caravan we suggested a drive out would be fun, but not go too far! Off we went and ended up at Stackpole Quay which is a National Trust place where they charge you a fortune to park the car!

Well, it must be a fortune 'cos OTL was crying when he handed over the money!

First we went down to see the quay, which is a place where boats can moor and off load stuff. I suppose it is interesting to those who have an interest in what boats do but to be honest, for woofers like us it was sooner left the better!

That was until we saw a couple of Two Legs emerge from under the water, all dressed up in rubber suits!

OTL said they were Scuba Divers or Frogmen. Now that seemed a bit odd 'cos neither of them did any croaking like wot frogs normally do, except the ones we got at home that don't croak or even let themselves be seen in or out of the pond!

No Croaks here!
We left them to do wot they were doing and headed off to explore.

The path didn't look long when we looked at the map but by the time we got to the Eight Arch Bridge, TM was making 'Complaining Noises', like 'are we there yet?'

OTL thought it was a pretty bridge and was hoping the wind would drop so he could get a good picture of the arches and their reflection in the pond, but the wind didn't drop, so OTL didn't!

All eight arches, wind and all!
We came across a path of flowers that seemed to flow through the trees. TM brightens up and says they are Wild Garlic.

OTL asks if she is 'Sure'?

She says 'Yes'

After a while, TM agrees that she 'Thinks' they are Wild Garlic, but she is not 100% sure and she will check when she finds a book on wild flowers.

Which she won't 'cos she will forget and hope OTL and us forget as well!

Well, they are Wild, but Wild Wot?
We walked all the way to a 'Viewing Spot' high on a hill and stopped to have a look but as Holly says, 'Yes, very impressive, but Wot Next?'

Wot Next?
Wot next was the long walk back! OTL reckons we walked at least two miles in total and I must admit, I was pleased to get back to the car for a drink and a snooze on our way back to the caravan!

So was Holly and TM as well!

OTL is off tomorrow to Skomer Island to see if he can photograph Puffins, those birds with colourful beaks!

That means we will be in charge of TM while he's away, let's hope she behaves herself!

See you tomorrow!

Luv,

Daisy, Holly, Miss Snowflake and Mr Brambles.

Over The Hills and down in The Valleys!

Yacky Dar Woofers!

Daisy, Holly, Miss Snowflake and Mr Brambles here again!

Sorry we are a bit late with the blog but we have been out too early and we've got back too late!

Early, well, even the birds hadn't got up when the alarm went off!

It was still dark as we left the camp site!

Soon we were dropping The Missus off at the Dandi Craft shop where she was doing her last 'Master Class' away from home.

Once we had received our instructions on what we could and couldn't do and what time we had to be back to pick her up, we headed off into The Valleys!

Now, because we had left so early, Holly and I managed a wee before we left but by the time we dropped TM off, we were in need of a more serious 'Comfort Stop' if you know what I mean!

Well, we were searching all over the place for a place where doggies could be walked and had Poo Bins!

Finally we found it, The Sirhowy Valley Country Park, (all dogs on leads and pick it up after you-Thank You Very Much!)

Well, Holly and I didn't care about that and before going too far, Old Two Legs had a couple of well filled poo bags to carry!

It's got Poo Bins as well!
This was in fact a very nice parkland, there were some good fields with loads of Bluebells flowering and also there was a stream running through it. OTL stopped for a while looking to see if there were any Dippers, (bird) but it seemed there was everything else except a Dipper!

No Dippers here!
That was it, no Dippers, let's go and find another park!

Well, the next one we found was a sort of 'All in One' place. There was Mountain Biking and Fishing and Kayaking and other things all along this stream. So, Holly and I stood guard in the car while this time the ferrets were let out for a Rampage along the river bank.

Well you know what they are like, investigating every nook and cranny, enjoying all the sniffs and of course there were loads of Two Legs that had never seen a ferret before and wanted to know all about them!

Stroke them!

Tickle them!

Those ferrets sure know how to show off when they want too!

Mr Brambles nearly fell in the stream as he was nosing about, luckily OTL was watching and pulled him out so that all he ended up with was a wet tail!

Mind you, he wanted a cuddle from OTL and took the time to dry his tail on OTL's shirt sleeve while he was getting cuddled!

Crafty or Wot!

Next stop was an abandoned Pit Head. All that was left were the winding engine wheels!

Where do they keep the engine?
I wasn't too sure about pits and engines but we had a sniff around to see if there were any signs of engine oil but there was nothing.

Mind you, this place was great 'cos OTL could let us off the lead and we could have a good run around.

We also had another poo each!

It was while we were exploring that Holly reckons she found bits of the pit shaft!

Are these Pit Bits?
OTL reckoned they were something to do with under ground water channels but Holly says that underground water things are round!

It was as we were walking back and discussing holes in the ground that we heard a strange whirling sound that made Holly look up and start woofing!

Strange looking Bird!
Holly said it was one of those Dipper Birds that OTL has never seen, I thought it was a big Bee and OTL said it was a Quadcopter that some men were playing with and it was a toy aeroplane thingy!

We didn't hang around too long 'cos OTL said we should see the Brecon Beacons!

Off we scampered, off to Brecon.

When we got there OTL had to put us on the lead again, I mean, all that land to roam free on and just 'cos there are a couple of sheep wandering about Holly and I had to stay restricted on our movements!

It was then we set to thinking how we can measure their legs, just to see if they were the Mountain Sheep OTL spoke of!

Trouble is, they are so unfriendly that they wouldn't stay still so we could get close, and, they were not on a lead like wot we were!

Well that lot over there don't want to know, what about the Bozo's at the top of the hill?
Sadly, they didn't hang about either and were off in a flash!

So, we ended up looking at the hills and sitting on the grass watching the clouds float past!

They are OK, but not as big as the ones in Scotland!
Soon it was time to get back to pick TM up. We made it back just in time and both ferrets turned on the charm and got all the attention from the ladies!

We had to stay in the car and behave ourselves, for a change!

By the way, Mr Brambles has two toes missing on his right rear foot, a birth defect OTL says rather than a war wound. He is not as good as Miss Snowflake at climbing but with OTL around he does OK!

See you all tomorrow, we are off for an early night, it's just been too much today!

Luv,

Daisy, Holly, Miss Snowflake and Mr Brambles.

Holly does a runner and we all get wet!

Yacky Dar Woofers!

Us again, Daisy, Holly, Miss Snowflake and Mr Brambles.

It's all happening down here in South West Wales!

Yesterday, after I had uploaded the blog, Old Two Legs says 'How about a run on the beach?'

Too Woofing Right!
Well, what is a woofer going to say to that?

Has a Woofer got a Tail!

This time the ferrets came with us as well!

Our beach has a stream crossing it and heads into the sea. Mr Brambles, being full of fun heads into the stream for a drink of water.

Mmmmm! Don't taste too bad!
Then, after he had a good slurp, he the sets about swimming up stream calling out that he was a big fierce otter looking for unsuspecting woofers to eat!

Grrrrr! I'm a Big Fierce Hungry Otter!
Miss Snowflake headed off to the rocks and had super time diving in and out and under all the rocks on the beach!

Hello Cheeky!
Then she spotted Mr Brambles having a great time splashing about in the water, so, quick as a flash, she was in the water as well.

Only problem was, she chose the deep bit and managed to get everything wet, except her nose!

A Wet & Soggy Ferret!
Still, she thought it was great fun and when we got back to the car, OTL gave them both a good rub down with one of our towels!

They were straight into bed when we got back, two worn out little ferrets!

About three this morning there was the sound of rain crashing onto the caravan roof and the awning being blown about by the wind.

We were expecting the rain so had tidied everything and brought all the ferret stuff into the caravan to stop it getting to damp.

This rain has carried on all day and you know, Holly and I refused to go out for our morning wee with The Missus!

It's Too WET!

A bit later, after OTL had done all his 'Water Chores' he dressed Holly and I up in out Rain Coats and dragged us off to the Dog Walking Area!

We didn't want to go 'cos it was raining but OTL insisted and when OTL insists it's unwise to not go!

So, a little way into the woods Holly had a big wee she had been saving all night!

OTL let me off the lead 'cos he knows how I need a bit of privacy and I managed fair sized wee as well!

Then back to a good towelling and a snooze before  TM decides we need to go shopping!

All rather boring until OTL says fancy a walk on the beach when we get back?

Does a Woofer have a Tail?

After dropping TM off we headed to the beach and on the path to the beach we met up with this six month old Bozo of a Hairy Labrador and couldn't he woof!

Hey, Look! Two Little Woofers!
OK, so all he wanted was a game but he hadn't been taught how to behave with other woofers!

First he rushed in for a sniff, Holly woofed him off!

Then he tried it with me and got another 'Telling Off'!

Then he left us alone for a while and went back to digging holes and rolling in them!

I do this every day when I come down here!
Then it started to rain again. Holly, being a bit fed up with this Bozo said she was going back to the car to wait for us.

I said it wasn't a good idea to run away from OTL but Holly doesn't do wet and she doesn't do Big Bozo Woofers with no manners!

So off she went!

I ran a little way with her but OTL by now had spotted us and was doing his 'Come Back' whistle but Holly really wanted to get back to the car, and off she jolly well went!

I'm Off!
I went back to OTL and together we headed for the car park where Holly was waiting by the car, having found out that she may be first to get back but she couldn't get in without OTL opening the door first!

Back to a fine chicken dinner followed by a snooze before we do some mugging!

Tomorrow, TM has told OTL he has to 'Clear Off and Take The Dogs With You'!

Seems she is a bit behind in preparations for her 'Master Class' on Saturday in Pontypridd!

She can only concentrate when we are not there!

So, us poor woofers are going to be thrown out to fend for ourselves amongst all these Druids, all day as well!

See you tomorrow, if we survive!

Luv,

Daisy, Holly, Miss Snowflake and Mr Brambles.

Getting Better all the time!

Yacky Dar Woofers!

Daisy, Holly, Miss Snowflake and Mr Brambles back again!

Well, today there were no jobs for Old Two Legs to fix, the cutlery draw is broken beyond repair, so OTL will have to do something with it when we get home. Well, that's what he said anyway!

Both Holly and I have the Grumbly Tum, not sure what has caused it but we are feeling a little 'Tender' around the 'Third Eye'!

OTL had to get up at Two Thirty this morning to let us both out 'cos we were getting desperate!

By the time he had found his trousers and boots we had disappeared into the bushes and didn't come out for about ten minutes!

If anyone had looked out of their caravan window they would have seen a strange looking Two Legs wandering around with a small torch whispering 'Daisy, Holly, Where the Woof are you two?'

Good Fun!

We both cuddled up to OTL and felt a little better but he says we are on 'Sensible Food' until our tummies settle down!

Mind you, OTL is not too well himself. That nasty TM has given him her cold and when he went looking for the 'Day & Night' Tablets, they were all empty!

So, after getting us all sorted this morning, we headed off into town to find a pharmacy.

After getting the pills and two boxes of tissues and 'Something for a sore throat' we headed back to the beach!

It was brilliant!

Holly had a splash in the stream, well, she stopped just when the water started to splash her 'Bits', she doesn't do 'Wet Bits'!

I think this is far enough!
Then off we went, charging  along the beach, woofing at the waves and all the other woofers on the beach!

It's running down my legs!
We climbed all over the rocks and dug a few holes!

Holly doing 'Free Climbing'!
You know we even forgot we had Grumbly Tums!

We both had super rolls on the sand and you know what? OTL lets us!

This is how you do a roll on the sand and a rock!
Holly headed into the middle of the beach and had a BIG ROLL!

This is better than a Rawhide Chew!
Then I tried a bit of 'Body Surfing', that is where you ride the wave using just your tummy!

A Super Surfing Beach Babe!
I said that Holly would be great at that, on account of the size of her tummy, but that would mean getting her bits wet, so that was out!

Thus Far and No Further!
Mind you, she did try to mug the bit of wood I had found floating in the surf!

Come on! Gissa Lick!
Back at the caravan we crashed out and had a super long snooze in the sunshine while OTL was using up the tissues to wipe his nose!

It's a good job he got two boxes of Ultra Soft & Silky, 'cos his nose is a bit sore from continued blowing and wiping!

TM was in the awning splodging about with a bucket of glue and a sack of glitter and two dozen sea shells and a string of dried sea weed, we think she is trying some sort of sculpture!

How she will get that on a card we have no idea!

We were thinking about another run on the beach but to be honest, we are just too tired!

See you all tomorrow!

Luv,

Daisy, Holly, Miss Snowflake and Mr Brambles.
