OTL has Teething Troubles!

Hi Woofers!

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy, Freddy and Eric de Ferret back again!

Wot a lot of weather we have had down here in North Kent! First it started off with a little mist followed by a bit of wind to blow it all away and then the sun was so bright you just couldn't the path ahead of you and that was just this morning!

Old Two Legs was all of a rush this morning 'cos he had an appointment with the dentist at ten thirty.

As soon as we got back from our walk Holly and I headed for the bed to catch up on the snoozing while the ferrets got their cages cleaned out. Of course, while the cleaning was going on the ferrets have the run of the house.

First up was Miss May and Eric de Ferret. Now as you know they are trying to get use to each other and their ways. Miss May still thinks she should be in charge and while they are running around it starts off with her chasing Eric and 'Donking' him on the back of his head. After a few 'Donks' he decides that she shouldn't be doing that and he then chases her to return the 'Donk'.

Miss May is a bit faster than Eric and she sets off at speed, diving in and out of the furniture and getting well ahead of Eric.

Then she stops, to let him catch up and just as it looks like he has caught her, she is off again!

All the time she is laughing her tail off or 'Dooking' as it is known.

Eric hasn't done any Dooking yet but he is making a noise that could be called a Dook, it is a sort of half a laugh!

He has only just found out how to wag his tail when hunting through the bedding and blankets that Holly and I call our bed!

Off went OTL to the dentist to have some work done on the front tooth that fell out before we went away on holiday. After a discussion with the dentist it was decided to remove the tooth root and fit a new tooth and anchor it to the tooth next door!

These dentist are right clever you know!

It was a good job  that OTL was in the dentist chair and lying horizontal when the dentist told him how much it was going to cost! It was also good that the nurse had some oxygen handy as well 'cos OTL came over all faint like!

Still, this stuff will take place over six months or so and the next visit is to remove the roots of the broken tooth!

Yuk!

He was back in time to take us out for the lunchtime walk and by now the wind had blown all the clouds away and it was bright sunshine!

Sunshine, a High Tide and I couldn't go swimming!
It was almost high tide but I wasn't allowed to have a swim!

The groundsman had been out with his grass cutter and there were large areas that have been cut back which is great for the ferrets as they spent ages diving in and out of the piles of grass!

This is just great, loads of sniffs and we don't get lost! Now, where is Wendy!
Back home we found that Eric and May had been out again rampaging around the house and again chasing each other around the lounge.

OTL says that this is a good sign 'cos it means they are getting to know each other!

They have been running around in 'Game Mode' rather than in 'Beating You Up Mode' so we have high hopes for them.

The best result will be when OTL creeps into the office with his torch and finds they are cuddled up in bed together!

Claws Crossed!

See you all tomorrow.

Luv,

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy, Freddy and Eric de Ferret.

Wash and a Splosh and Short Back and Sides!

Yo Woofers!

Us again, Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy, Freddy and Eric de Ferret!

Well, it has been interesting today!

Last night there was a bit of a squabble in the ferret cage but it ended up in a chase up and down the furniture on both levels. We thing that Eric stuck his nose into May's bedroom without asking and May took exception!

We are sure that Eric just wants to snuggle up to May 'cos he has left his brother and sister back in the rescue centre and they all used to snuggle up together at night!

Down on the beach May was teasing Holly by shouting out to Old Two Legs to 'Wash Her Butt Again!'.

That May can be a right pickle when she wants to be!

Go On! Give her butt another scrub!
Holly and I got dropped off at the Parlour for a good wash and hair cut so the ferrets had the run of the house!

May and Eric were chasing each other around the lounge and kitchen with May dooking her tail off while chasing Eric!

Then she would stop and Eric started to chase her but he didn't do any dooking!

This carried on for some time and we think that is a good sign and who knows, we might even wake up one morning to find them sharing a bed together!

It was rather late that OTL picked us up, three fifteen he was told and three fifteen he was at the counter arguing over the cost of our haircut! He reckons that next time he is going to have ago with some sheep shears and a bottle of iodine!

Wot's the iodine for?

To make up for our terrible day we stopped off at the Doggy Shop and OTL got some Chicken strips for the ferrets and two new water dispensers for their show cages and of course, we got some chicken fillets!

Yum! Yum!

Mind you, that didn't stop Holly and me from mugging some chicken strips on top of the chicken fillets we mugged OTL for after leaving the Doggy Shop!

Back home we had some of that 'Posh Doggy Scoff' that The Missus sometimes gets us when she is feeling guilty about the standard doggy scoff she serves up!

There is nothing like a sad face looking at that stuff to make her feel horrid!

Both Holly and I sniff like a Tarts Handbag and we went looking for a sniff to roll in but OTL had us on a lead and was 'In Control'!

Rats!

See you all tomorrow!

Luv,

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy, Freddy and Eric de Ferret.

Eric de Ferret got introduced to the vet!

Hi Woofers!

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy, Freddy de Ferret and Eric de Ferret have returned again!

I feel I must explain about the de Ferret line!

You see, Freddy is a big grown up boy of about three years and because of his markings he is known as a Pastel Polecat Ferret. Now young Eric is also a Pastel Polecat Ferret but he is only six months old and his markings are not fully displayed yet, so he looks sort of 'Dusty' around the face. However, because they are both from the same line we have decided to give them both the same surname, de Ferret!

Wendy on the other paw is a Pastel Polecat Ferret but she says she is keeping her own name and that is Miss Wendy and Nuffin' Else!

It is so difficult keeping up with them all!

Now, Eric has been with us for three days and things have to settle down in the cage, him and May have to get used to each other. It started off with May getting a little concerned that Eric was in her cage and looked on him as a bit of an intruder. So, the first night Eric slept on the blanket on the floor. Then Old Two Legs put a 'Cuddle Cup' bed in and the second night he slept in that.

Miss May slept both nights on a hammock slung across the cage, keeping watch on Eric's movements!

Last night she felt relaxed enough to get into the 'Corner Bed' which is a bed hung from the cage bars but locates in the corner of the cage. She used to sleep in there with her sister Miss April.

Today Eric is still in the cuddle cup and May is in the corner bed but no fighting or chasing about in the cage. So, although they are not cuddled up together, like Fred and Wendy, they are living together with a certain degree of relaxation!

So, it all looks good for a peaceful future, it's just that they have got to get used to each other!

OTL had made an appointment with the vet today to get Eric injected against Distemper and off he went with OTL to see the vet.

OTL had brought along the bottle of Ferretone so, when the vet arrived with that whacking great needle to stab into him, he was slurping away totally oblivious of the danger!

Too late he realised what was happening but as he couldn't do anything else, he went back to slurping away the last of the Ferretone!

That was it, the vet got to stroke Eric and Eric decided not to bite the vet, this time!

We went out with Miss May for a walk this morning and there was a heavy foggy mist everywhere. There were no ships to be seen and all we could hear was the long mournful moan of the fog horn over in Sheerness!

Still, we got a couple of ethereal photo's!

Spooky or Wot?
OTL says he likes this one 'cos it is 'Artistic' and also 'cos he took the shot by just holding the camera and pointing it at the sun and flower, it was just too low for him to look through the view finder!

Who's a Clever OTL?
By the time we went out at lunchtime most of the mist had gone, so no more 'Ethereal' photo's!

Holly got into a bit of trouble, you see she has had the 'Grumbly Tum' and has to get cleaned up before she is allowed into the car and then she gets a really good wash when she gets home.

Today she got a really grubby butt and OTL decided to wash it off using sea water!

Now, you know what it's like regarding Holly and water!

So, OTL took the ferret bag off his shoulder and left the ferrets peeking out of the bag at what was happening to Holly.

Holly got dragged down to the shore where the water was just about high tide. OTL reversed Holly into the water so her back legs were in the water, then, when the wave lapped onto the beach, OTL took a handful of water and began to rub and scrub at Holly's butt!

Last night Holly was enjoying a cool carrot and lunchtime to day it had reached Holly's butt!

There was OTL, grabbing a hand full of Holly and a hand full of water and giving Holly a good rub and in turn getting a hand full of half digested carrot!

The ferrets thought it was a great joke and Miss Wendy wanted OTL to give Holly another wash!

Oh! Come on, One More Time!
Freddy seemed a little concerned and wanted to know if OTL was using the sea shells to scrub Holly's butt!

Your not really using sea shells, are you?
Of course OTL wasn't using sea shells, it was just the water washing onto them and making a noise!

Mind you, OTL was using the sand to scrub his hands after finishing with Holly Chops!

I think it's a good job that we are off to the Parlour tomorrow for a 'Shampoo and Set'!

OTL says it will be 'Short Back and Sides' around the tail tomorrow!

Eric de Ferret has just discovered 'Ferret Bits' that contain malt paste to help prevent hair balls.

I love them too and I've never had a hair ball!

See you all tomorrow!

Luv,

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy, Freddy and Eric de Ferret!

Sunday, 30 October 2016

It's Sunday but OTL is still working!

Hi Woofers!

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy, Freddy de Ferret and finally, Eric de Ferret!

Well, even though we got an extra hour in bed this morning it somehow slipped us by! Old Two Legs went in the office to find that Miss May is sitting in the hammock with her eyes open and looking very pleased to see him. Eric on the other paw was in his bed snoring his tail off!

OTL made a call to the vets and made an appointment  for Monday morning for Eric to get checked over and also get his anti distemper jab like wot we get every year only the ferrets get theirs every two years!

We told Eric he was going to be stabbed on Monday morning and he said that if anyone come after him with a needle they had better be wearing welding gloves!

Yeah, they stab you then wiggle it about!

Welding gloves? I eat them!
Out walking this morning was pretty, the mist had settled on the spiders webs!

Now doesn't that look pretty?
OTL was looking for something different and chose a rose hip that had a drip on it!

Yep! Autumn is here!
Freddy has finally worked out that both he and Eric will be competing in the ferret show and they will both be in the same class, Pastel Polecat Hob!

I reckon my face is prettier than Eric's, wodda you reckon?
Wendy says that we should win everything in that section 'cos she will be in the Pastel Polecat Jill section and although she has a bent ear, it doesn't matter 'cos she has a sweet smile!

May is out on her own 'cos she is a Silver Jill and she says she has a good chance 'cos she is in peak condition. Providing she gets a brush down before going into the judges!

Still, that is not until the 26th November, so we have plenty of time to get a good wash and brush up before the day!

We are off now to watch the F1 Racing, so bye bye and see you tomorrow!

Luv,

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy, Freddy de Ferret and Eric de Ferret.

Guess who has arrived?

Hi Woofers!

Us again, Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy, Freddy de Ferret and Eric de Ferret!

Yes, it has happened, Miss May has come back with a boy friend!

You see we sent Old Two Legs and May off with the 'Holiday Cage' all clean and disinfected and with clean bedding and water and some nibbles.

Miss May travelled in the travelling cage she uses when she goes out for her morning walk or a trip to the vet!

At the Harrietsham Ferret Rescue she was introduced to Buddy, a two year old Hobblet but it just didn't go well with the introductions. Miss May attacked him and bit him on the nose!

Now that was just not on. We know May can be a bit feisty but all out warfare was not on!

It was then suggested that we try a younger Hob.

There was a cage with four ferrets in that had started off with twelve! They had been bred by a young Two Legs who thought he could make some money selling the Kits but no one wanted to buy them and they ended up at the Rescue for Roy and Chris to find them new homes.

So, this young, six month old Pastel Hob was put in the same cage as May. He is a 'Full Hob', that is he hasn't been castrated yet 'cos his testicles haven't dropped yet!

She sniffed, he sniffed and then she attacked him but he didn't run away, he stood his ground and went for her!

That set Miss May back on her tail!

Now there was a lot of chasing around the cage, in and out of the bedding and a plastic tube. May was a bit put out that this youngster was giving as good as he got!

There was a bit of squeaking and hissing and chasing and running but it all slowed down. OTL went off to have a cup of tea and a chat with Roy and Chris.

After about thirty minutes they went to see what had occurred. Both ferrets were eyeing each other and were keeping apart in their own little space.

Next OTL got the 'Holiday Cage' and both ferrets were put in and a bowl of Ferretone introduced. They both were slurping away while standing next to each other!

A good sign!

OTL kept an eye on them for a while and decided that they would both be fine after week or tow, just like Fred and Wendy who now are always cuddled up together when they have a snooze!

So, at the time of writing, Eric is curled up under a blanket while May is snoozing in the hammock.

Eric has had a poo and a wee down on the bottom floor of the cage, correct level but wrong side of the cage!

He'll learn!

When he gets a bit older he will need to be castrated which will help his temperament and make him into a big soft cuddle machine like wot Freddy is!

OTL passed on the donation from Rose and Rosie and Roy and Chris say thank you very much.

While he was there OTL got to see Rufus!

He is doing very well, the large lump he had was a cyst which was removed by the vet and now he is slowly building up the muscles in his back legs.

OTL had a cuddle with Rufus and he wanted to say a big 'Thank You' to the Allhallows Croppers who enabled the Rescue Centre to fund his treatment. Rufus has a girl friend and the pair are to be found cuddled up together every night!

So, that is about it really, Eric will get his Distemper injection next week and after a while will be allowed out on the lead for a walk with May and us woofers!

OTL has promised to get some photos of Eric over the next few day so you can see what a beautiful lad he is!

See you tomorrow!

Luv,

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy, Freddy de Ferret and Eric de Ferret!

Getting all Tarted Up!

Yo Woofers!

Us again, Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy and the Famous Freddy de Ferret!

Another 'interesting' day here in sunny North Kent!

You know we went away in the caravan and the electric water heater stopped working. Well, being into electronics, Old Two Legs changed the blown fuse but the heater still wouldn't work, so, he switched the system over to 'Gas' ad off we went, hot water all the time we were up there, providing The Missus remembered to turn the gas water heater on, which a few mornings, she didn't!

Cold showers are not OTL's thing!

Anyway, the man who installed the heater before we went away, came to visit today to make it all work again. The water heater is now working again, new fuse!

Also the fridge was going into 'Deep Freeze' mode and we had tomatoes frozen solid like glass marbles!

Seems the thermostat wasn't connected, so a quick plug switch and Hey Presto, fridge working!

OTL had left a message on the Harrietsham Ferret Rescue asking if he and Miss May can visit to meet prospective partners and we expect a line up of eligible Hobbles (Castrated Hob)!

When we went out for our walk we discussed May visiting Harrietsham, Holly and I have told her she has to sniff like a really attractive ferret so we have been out sniffing for weasel wee!

It was good down on the beach this morning, the sun was up and the clouds were high in the sky.

Good Morning Sheerness!
We spotted a couple of Two Legs having a rest from riding their bikes and OTL asked what they were looking for.

We are looking for Ferrets!
 In the sea?

Strange or wot!

Yeah, a bit of Weasel Wee and some rabbit poo behind each ear should do it!
We helped May locate some wee and she was straight in sloshing it about all over the place!

Yeah! Slosh it all over!
When we got home we found that OTL had almost finished all the paperwork so he will be free for some fun over the weekend!

After lunch we got a call from Chris at the Harrietsham Rescue saying we can come down on Saturday about eleven for introductions to the lads!

May was getting all excited on getting the news and decided to have an early night so she would be bright and beautiful for introductions tomorrow!

Freddy said that she may meet some of his mates who may still be there and asked May to say hello to them for him!

Yeah, there's Jumbo, Wally, Doodle, Pookie, Cadbury, Stan, Silly Sid, Alvin, Echo, Henry, Sammy, Barry, Alfred, Billy Boy,
The sea was calm and we spotted another 'Floating House Brick' heading into Sheerness to drop off some more new cars!

Left paw down a bit Number One!
So, we are all excited about who may come back with May! Wendy says that who ever it is, he will have to be big and tough 'cos Miss May is a feisty little girl!

We will be handing over a donation from Rose and Rosie Rogers who asked The Missus to pass it on when she next contacts Harrietsham!

Job done! Every little helps!

See you all tomorrow.

Luv, Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy and Freddy de Ferret.

A Day on The Beach!

Yo Woofers!

Us again, Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy and Freddy de Ferret!

We have been having some fun today. As we have been away up in the Yorkshire Dales we have been missing out on the sandy beaches, so today it has been great fun rolling and digging in them again!

OK, We'll dig our hole here, away from those noisy Woofers!
Holly and I did our own thing but we had to watch out for Old Two Legs who tries to stop us from rolling in the beach sniffs!

Me? No, I was just sniffin'!
Mind you, we did have some fun winding OTL up. As the tide was out Holly and I asked for permission to have a roll in the mud instead of swimming!

You should see the look on his face!

OK, no sand, no swimming, how about a mud bath?
We just love winding OTL up!

Poor lad is still bashing away at the pile of paper and it looks like he could have it all cleared up tomorrow, just in time for the weekend!

We have got an appointment at the Parlour next week, short back and sides and a powder puff under the tail!

Yukky, Yuk, Yuk! As Archie Babe says!

OTL is to telephone Harrietsham to arrange for a visit with Miss May and we reckon that she is the one who should be down the parlour getting the Powder Puff Treatment!

See you all tomorrow!

Luv,

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy and Freddy de Ferret.

Misty old Morning!

Hi Woofers!

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy and Freddy de Ferret here!

Well, we have had to amuse ourselves today, Old Two Legs has been throwing bits of paper all over the place and though we have tried to help by getting the ferrets to push them all off the desk so Holly and I can bury them in the garden, OTL didn't seem too happy about it!

First thing this morning the mist was down over the sea and while it wasn't quite ethereal, it was just misty!

Misty on The Medway!
We all had a roll on the beach and May even got to roll in some rabbit poo on the grass path!

OTL would never let Holly or I do that!

But at lunch time we had a crafty roll on the beach!

Me First!
As soon as I managed to distract OTL Holly did one of her famous 'Dives' into the sand, nose first and had a good roll!

This beats Paperwork!
Even Freddy and Wendy joined in but they both decided to dig a hole first before rolling in the bottom!

This is how it's done!
Then it was all back home for a snooze before dinner!

See you tomorrow!

Luv,

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy and Freddy de Ferret.

We are Home!

Hi Woofers!

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy and Freddy de Ferret here all safe and well!

We had a long trip back on the A1 motorway and there were times when there was loads of traffic but it all kept moving so no real problems there then!

We shouted out for Archie Babe as we passed but he must have been asleep 'cos there were no reply to our woofs!

We got back around three in the afternoon and spent a couple of hours unloading the van and getting the ferrets back in their homes!

We were chatting about the difference between Yorkshire and Kent.

Well, for a start off, we got bigger rivers!

Yorkshire.
But down here in the South we got.........

Kent, and that's with the tide out!
OK, so some of their hills are bigger than the bumps we have down here but the sniffs are better!

You know what? I've really missed these sniffs!
We have had the ferrets out with us and they agree that while Yorkshire has big rocks to ferret under, down here there is more chance of catching a shrew or mouse 'cos they like the long grass which Yorkshire didn't seem to have!

We met up with a few of the lads who brought us up to date with the news and location of sniffs on the top path.

Old Two Legs has been tearing around like a ferret with its tail on fire! The pile of paperwork is as high as it normally is when he comes back from a holiday, so we don't expect to see him for at least a week!

I've got to take some small tablet to help me get over my soggy butt problem and OTL cuts a small bit of chicken strip and buries the pill inside. At the moment he is winning but sometimes I do manage to eat the chicken and still spit out the pill!

A bit later this week OTL will telephoning the Harrietsham Ferret Rescue to see about introducing Miss May to her new boy friend, let's hope she doesn't try to beat him up like Wendy did when she first met Freddy!

In the end it worked out very well and now they are inseparable, so claws crossed for Miss May!

See you all tomorrow!

Luv,

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy and Freddy de Ferret.

Last Noisy Day on the Caravan Site!

Hi Woofers!

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy and Freddy de Ferret here again!

Well, today is our last day before setting off homeward tomorrow morning. I don't think we have ever been away on holiday where it has rained almost every day!

OK, I know it is Autumn time and all that but, every day!

Still, we have seen all of the Yorkshire Dales and discovered some serious sniffs and enjoyed listening to the rain falling on the caravan roof at night!

The ferrets have had fun 'ferreting' around under the rocks on the caravan site and found a load of acorns that the squirrels have stored ready for the winter season.

Yesterday, in the field opposite the caravan site the Two Legs were marking out some tracks using plastic poles. Today we found out what it was all for!

It was a Vintage Car Rally! Only this lot decided to make it into a cross country/hill climb sort of rally!

There were loads of Austin Seven cars with different sorts of bodies on them.

Getting along just fine!
There were saloon cars full of families who were all bouncing up and down to try to make the wheels grip on the muddy surface!

Come on Dad, Faster!
There were some seriously large cars as well, this Bentley looked great on the road but didn't do too well on the mud!
Getting ready to Bounce!
It was all good fun and the small cars seemed to be the ones who got further up the hills.

We've done this before!
There were even some left hand drive cars there as well, this one just kept on going without much bouncing at all!

Built for speed!
In the end it seemed that the old Austin Seven was the favourite for steaming up the hills!

Austin Seven 'Girl Power'!
Old Two Legs just loves old cars and wished he had one he could drive up and down the hills!

Now we are going to start packing tonight, well we will make sure out 'Treat Box' is in a safe place for the journey home tomorrow!

Bye for now and see you tomorrow when we get home!

Luv,

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy and Freddy de Ferret.
