Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss April and Fred here.
Wot a sad night is was last night.
At seven last night OTL went to the vets to pick up Wilma and get some medicine to stop the pain. The vet said we had to keep her quiet and make sure she has plenty to drink. There was no obvious wounds, just bruises where the dogs teeth had grabbed her around her abdomen.
She was obviously in shock.
We took her home and OTL made up a cage for her with bedding, food and water and a poo try.
OTL gave her a drink using a syringe and tucked her up into her bedding.
Around nine last night OTL went to check on her and found her laying half in and half out of the poo tray. He picked her up and cradled her in his arm and offered her another slurp of water which she took, but not much.
OTL carried on cuddling her and she licked his arm, snuggled her head down and gently passed away.
OTL carried on cuddling her for a while until he was sure she had passed over.
We think that it was the shock that finally got her as we couldn't see any damage on the x-rays.
Wilma was a super ferret, full of fun, full of life. She took to the harness and lead and enjoyed her walks on the beach and the grass paths. She didn't walk, she bounded, and when she ran out of lead, she dashed back to encourage her brother Freddy to 'Get a Move On'.
After the walk along the sea front and a rampage around the house she would rattle the cage door until OTL opened it up and gave her a slurp of Ferretone and a bit of chicken strip.
She wasn't with us for more than seven weeks but in that time she enjoyed her life in our house and was settling down to being one of our family.
We buried her this morning in a flower pot in the garden and put her next to Miss Snowflake and Mr Brambles so they can keep her company and of course, we can always stop and tell them all what has been going on in the house and what sort of trouble we have been getting in to!
Every time OTL has passed Snowflake and Brambles he has always said hello and updated them on what is going on!
Now he will stay a bit longer to have a chat with Wilma.
