OTL is getting close to paying for the hair clipping equipment!

His Woofers!

It's Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy and Eric de Ferret here!

You know, it has been quite muggy today, it was like that first thing this morning even though the clouds were overhead. As the day progressed the sun came out and the temperature went up as well!

We have spotted a good crop of Taddly Poles wiggling their tails all over the pond and The Missus has spotted a load of dragonfly nymph as well. I must admit, they look rather ugly!

We have loads of snails and water boatmen plus a lot of stuff we can't identify!

Last year we had a plant take root and as it grew, all the other plants in the pond got swamped out and look like they were not going to make it over winter!

Old Two Legs wasn't sure what it was but decided to do something about it. earlier this year he dug up all of the root he could find and chopped the tops of the plant where he couldn't get to the root. Of course, doing that only encouraged the plant to grow and we had new shoots poking up all over the place. So, he purchased a strong weed killer called Glyphosate Commercial Strength Weed Killer. Now this stuff is diluted the sprayed onto the leaves of the weed you are trying to get rid of.

OTL couldn't do that 'cos there were loads of other plants close, so, he purchased a bottle of this stuff  and a pack of syringes with 'Unsharp' needles. The plan is to inject the weed killer directly into the stem of the shoot and then add a squirt onto the leaves.

Well, after a week it looks like it is having effect, the weed is wilting and the leaves are turning black!

Claws crossed we have beaten the weed this year!

Today we noticed a note in OTL's diary, 'Hair Cut and Advantix' That means that our holiday is getting close and we need our second squirt of Anti Tick stuff on our shoulders! The haircut is so that we  look super good as well when we go!

Now, when OTL decided to buy the gear so that he could cut out hair himself, he said that it wouldn't be too long before it paid for it's self considering just how much the Poodle Parlour was charging and also they were increasing the price every time we went there!

Today as he was shaving us to within a millimetre of our skin we reckoned he was actually making a profit now!

One good thing is that Holly and I will get to help OTL get a haircut and trim his beard the day before we go!

That will be fun!

We must say a big thanks to all of you who left kind messages on TM's Face Ache Page and the kind words and prayers left in the comments of our Blog. It means a lot to us that so many of you read the blog, even if you don't always make a comment.

We have been making a fuss of little Wendy and she has been out walking with us and OTL at lunchtime. OTL has been saying that because she has Freddy as a mate and they cuddled up to each other every night she should think about a trip to Harrietsham to see if there are any cuddly ferrets in need of a good home!

Wendy said she would think about it and let us know.

We are going to visit Harrietsham on Monday to drop off the donation from the Allhallows Croppers and will discuss it with Roy and Chris who run the rescue.

This morning we spotted OTL tidying up the garden close to the Grecian Urn where all the ferrets are buried and we were sure he was talking to them! Mind you, I always say hello as I pass on my way to have a wee first thing in the morning!

See you all tomorrow.

Luv,

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy and Eric de Ferret.

  1. Yo maties. Well it has been a hottie here today. I went up the shops for a walk but I was glad to get back home and have a nice snooze and a drink of water. My mum wanted to go out last night but I was too tired and I said no. Now I've had my thinking cap on and I've invented some new games, one is called pest and pause. I wait until my mum is really comfortable and really concentrating on a programme on the telly then I tell her I want scoff or a wee, my mum presses pause on the telly and gets me wot I want and goes back and gets comfie again and then 5 minutes later, I tell her I want something else, she presses pause and gets me wot I want again and then goes back to getting comfie and 5 minutes later I do the same. It's real good fun watching her jumping up and down every few minutes. I've got a couple of other games in the pipeline but at the moment, this is my favourite. Now we've had nargles in our garden this week. The other night I went out and there was something in my garden not moving, I patted it with my paws and then along came my mum and tried to lift me up away from it so I picked it up and then I dropped it, well my mum took me inside and closed the door and out she went with a carrier bag cos it was quite big. Whatever it was she threw it away over the back of the fenced off compost heap, wot a spoil sport. I know it was a nargle or it was left there by a nargle. Can I come on holiday with you to hunt nargles please, I've been bathed and I'm quite clean at the moment. Well I say I'm quite clean, my mum said last night I was a dirty little ....... sounded like clod. I went out for my last wee and I decided it would be nice if I had a little pet, I found Geronimo in the garden all on his own and decided he could be my new pet so I snuck him in. Me and my mum went to bed and as we snuggled up she was giving my tummy a tickle when she found Geronimo ....... Well that was it, she put the light on, found where Geronimo was snuggling up against me, picked him off and threw him, yes threw him, out of the window. So that was it, poor little Geronimo slug was evicted!!! How mean is that???? I'm glad that weed has been beaten. It's good to hear that OTL is now in profit with his grooming kit. You girls always look the dogs do dahs to me. We're all pleased to hear that Wendy is getting extra cuddles. Are you and Holly chops going along on Monday to help advise Wendy on who might be a good cuddle candidate? I bet that the ferret people will be over the moon with the funds you're taking to them. Say hello to the ferrets in the urn from me when you next walk by and tell them I loved their tales and antics and miss them too. Hope you all have a peaceful evening with some tasty muggings. Love, licks, wags and sniffs from little Arch and the Nippers xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  2. Oh dear, I can't help commenting on Archie first, just imagine if you took Geronimo into bed with TM, I think I would hear her screaming from here, what a giggle!
OTL looks to be in a win, win situation with the pond weed and hair cutting exercise, good for him, well done. I hope Miss Wendy decides to give a little ferret a home, she will be so lonely without Freddy and he was such a character. Holiday drawing near, space made for a new single malt and a shortbread or two in the name of science.
Michael came back with HMS Belfast all 514 pieces and age 8+ it says. Lots of screws, there is a warning notice on the box "Chocking hazard, small parts. Not suitable for aged 3 and under". Taking a look he doesn't think it suitable for an 8 year old either still he is a bit older than that. Have a cuddlesome Sunday and keep Miss Wendy company xxxxx. X for Freddy
