Why does it happen to OTL?

Hi Woofers!

McDaisy, McHolly, Miss MacMay, Miss MacWendy, Eric de McFerret and Monty McSporran back with you!

Well, yesterday we didn't get to put a blog up, sorry, blame Old Two Legs for that!

We got a 4x4 Mercedes car which OTL just loves and he reckons it will do him until he can't drive any more! Problem is, the car and engine work very well but the car is full of sensors that monitor wot's going on.

We got sensors that monitor if the wheels lock and then the computer takes over and lets the brakes on or off to bring the car under control. Then it has sensors that monitor the quality of air going into the engine and makes adjustment to the fuel/air mixture to make it all efficient and sweet smelling!
The engine is stuffed full of sensors to make sure everything is doing wot it should at the right time.

A wonderful engine, just crappy sensors!

We keep getting sensors breaking and that was the reason we had to get the car off to Glasgow and the Mercedes men wiv the correct spanners to fix it!

OTL had to get a transporter down to the caravan site to load up and drive the car and OTL to Lochgilphead where it was loaded onto another, larger transporter and onto Glasgow.

On the way, OTL was in deep conversation with Mercedes, the RAC and Eurocar to try to get everything to click together!

Well it was a 90% success, hire car arrived on time, RAC got the car into Glasgow on time. The Mercedes people said they could fix it, but not until Monday!

AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!

You can imaging The Missus getting her knickers in a twist!

So, OTL is going to drive her over to a hotel near where her Master Class is taking place so she won't be late, then, on Monday the car should be repaired. So, it's drop off hire car, pick up our car then pick up TM and back to the caravan.

All told it just lengthens our holiday by two days!

Now, we don't mind that too much and on top of that we get to drive around is a sporty Mercedes while and enjoy the sunshine that is covering the Mull of Kintyre!

Today, OTL felt a little tired and spend some time seeing if he could get a ferry across tomorrow but found that the only sailing was at 07:00hr and didn't return until 17:45hr or summat like that and any way it was already booked!

There is another double ferry trip that takes in the Isle of Arran was abandoned as being the weekend there would be too many visitors and a space couldn't be guaranteed!

So, it's back to circumnavigating the Firth of Clyde and landing in Dumfries the long way around. About 250 miles there and 250 miles back, a whole 9 hours excluding traffic jams!

We will sleep well tomorrow night!

Today we had one of those Micro Lite Hairyplanes land on our beach! I mean, it didn't even have permission to land!

Mind you, it didn't crash, it just sort of belly flopped onto the sand, came to a halt and its wing drooped to one side!

It was a good job there was no one on the beach!
There was plenty of sand for him to land, the tide was out and the sand was quite hard!

No, not Barbados, it's Carradale Bay!

Holly had a close look at the Micro Lite and reckoned she could fly it with no problems, it was only the matter of finding a helmet that would fit her!

Now, Holly reckons it should have a jet engine instead of a propeller!
Hey! Wot about this then? This is the super duper hire car that OTL has to drive.  The SatNav is like a big TV screen and you operate it with a round sort of computer mouse, OTL hates it cos there are no instructions in the car on how to set it up, so it is all 'Trial & Error' with the emphasis on Error!

It's OK but it would never tow the caravan!

It's OK but OTL says he would never buy one!

OK, that's all for today, a bit long but we are wondering just why is it that we always have a 'Challenge' for OTL when we go on holiday!

See you tomorrow!

Luv,

McDaisy, McHolly, Miss MacMay, Miss MacWendy, Eric de McFerret and Monty McSporran.

  1. Yo Mcmaties. Well we're all very sorry to hear the news of the big car. Poor OTL, he'll need a holiday to get over that one. I've had a brain wave, now see that there micro wotsit on the beach, couldn't that give Mrs TM a lift to her master class tomorrow to save OTL having to drive all that way. Don't the car chappies up there work weekends? Hope your car is back with you soon, I think Daisy, you need to write a letter to Mr Mercedes and tell him wot you think of his shonky sensors, seems to me he needs to go back to the drawing board with them. I reckon Holly chops would look luverly in a crash helmet, I can imagine her flying along in that thing. We've had a bit of a busy day, no where near as busy as yours though. We had chaps in today and they've cleared the shed and the compost heap at the back of the garden, so my garden is a bit bigger and has more sniffs in it. Thing is, I seem to have hurt my paw or leg and I've got an appointment to see ........... guess who ....... yep the vet, tomorrow morning. It's not too bad but I am limping on it a bit and my mum wants to get it checked out, you know how she worries about me. So we might have a busy day tomorrow cos when she's taken me down the vets, then she's got to come back and put up some low level fencing so that I won't jump up and down on the wall at the back, so until then I have to go out on the lead ........... pah. Me and my mum are going to have an early night cos we've both been up since the crack, both had to work and then make tea for the chaps in the garden. Hope you all get a real good rest tonight and have a safe journey tomorrow. Paws cross there are no traffic jams. Love, licks, wags and sniffs from little Arch and the Nippers xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  2. Oh dear Daisy, I was so sorry to hear that your holiday plans have taken a turn for the worse. What a bother for all of you. Just when you were having great adventures and games. I specially like that game you invented where you fall over and then have to wriggle a bit to get up again. Very clever game that was! You are such clever woofers! I was sorry to hear that you weren’t ALL going to the hotel. It would have made such a picture all 8 of you trouping in with young Eric bringing up the rear with his little suitcase bulging with squeaky balls! I hope the workshops go well for TM. I expect the ladies will have a good time as TM’s workshops are always a tonic that’s if you can dodge the glue and glitter of course!
I hope no other calamities befall you. Love to all Auntie Di x x

  3. We are home now from our trip to the Isle of Wight and Nelson Fort, Widley near Portsmouth and had a bit of an unpack. We followed what was happening to you with our terrible internet, what a great shame to have this thrown at you. I think cars were much better when they had to have somebody walk in front with a flag to summon its arrival, little did those people realise what was to come, things like sensors and the M25 to name two! I will be back tomorrow to see what you are up to, look after OTL xxxxxx
