Sunday in a new Forest

Hi Woofers!

Daisy & Holly here again.

After yesterdays fun and games and late to bed, you known we didn't wake Old Two Legs up until seven this morning! Half the day's gone already!

We had a look at the photos he took and decided that next time we are going to go with him to see Alun 'cos they all look well fed, so there must be loads of food there!

It was Alun's birthday and also Olwyn's birthday, so there must have been loads of food!

You know, Aluns nearly as old as OTL, and that's very old, but looking at the photo he doesn't look nearly as old as OTL!

Happy Birthday Alun!
We went out with OTL down to the rubbish dump and got rid of some more bits TM had decided to throw out and we expected to go onto The Farm, but OTL said we were going to Trosley Park, a place we had never been to before, Ooooh an exciting new place!

Well, as we got closer there were loads of speed bumps in the road, up and down, up and down, up and down, now I don't do sailing and these speed bumps upset me. In fact I was so upset, I was sick all over OTL's leg. I just threw up over his thigh and it started to run down the inside of his leg, so, he formed his hand into a cup and caught most of it. Then he still had to park the car, using just one hand to do the steering! When we finally stopped, Holly and me were all excited and were jumping all over OTL trying to get out the door, the same door he was trying to get out without spilling my present to him!

We all fell out of the door, OTL wiping his leg clean, Holly and me running around the car park, (only two other cars there)!

OTL had some serious hand wipes in a plastic bucket in the back of the car and was able to clean himself up before charging after us down the path to the woods!

Another pile of logs!
The park was all hills and while it was OK going down, you had to go back up again on the way back!

A long way up!
We had a super run and when we got back to the car park, OTL brought us a sausage each from the tea van in the car park. It was a Frankfurter type of sausage that he broke in half and then held it up for us to take.

Only we didn't, we just sort of took bites out of it while he held it for us!

Best thing was, he did the same with the second sausage!

When he finally got around to eating his own sausage in a roll, we tried to mug him for a bit!

As he said, that one was his, we could go and whistle if we thought we were going to get any!

We tried whistling but all that happened was we blew raspberries!

Clever, these Two Legs!

See you tomorrow!

Luv,

Daisy & Holly

P.S.

Betty, it is OK for your milk teeth to drop out, you'll grow some new ones. Just make a fuss, get them to buy you some rawhide chews and let them know that you expect the Tooth Wolf to visit you and leave some new treats!  xx D&H

Rainy Saturday

Hi All!

Daisy & Holly here again.

Saturday was a funny day, sort off. Well I got up good and early and jumped onto the bed to say 'Good Morning' to Old Two Legs, you know, paw on the cheek and a good wash of the ear and bald patch on top of his head. I thought it was the best way to wake him up at five thirty in the morning.

He went all 'Grumbly' and went back to sleep again, so, I wandered over to The Missus and gave her a lick, she went all 'Grumbly' as well. I supose it's because they don't get enough sleep, you know they stay up past ten thirty in the evening!

After getting up and taking us for a walk we were both put in the car, 'walkies' we thought, but no, horror upon horror, we stopped at The Vets, oh no, now what?

We went in and got weighed again, 7.6Kg for Holly and 6.3Kg for me. That Holly is getting porkier by the day, too much food!

Surprise surprise, OTL brought a bag of Doggy Lumps that the vet had recommended on our last (booster injection) visit. That wasn't too bad, we got out of there as soon as OTL had emptied his wallet into their till!

We had our walk down by he Sea Wall and then off we went to see The Boys.

Not only did we have our own food brought by TM but there was a fire in a bucket in the garden and food was being cooked on it. Holly and I managed to mug a lamb chop each plus a few bits of meat from different people around the fire!

We didn't dig too many holes but we had a good chase around the garden!

TM & OTL came and collected us, which was good 'cos we were beginning to wonder where they had gone and how long they'd be!

Back home in time for OTL to get a whisky nightcap and for us to get a nibble of shortbread!

See you all tomorrow.

Luv,

Daisy & Holly

Shampoo & Set

Hello Everyone!

Daisy & Holly here again.

The diary reads 'Not very happy when I woke up this morning'.

Well, you know how much I love having my hair cut and especially being washed by a strange person, other than Old Two Legs, who is strange, but in a nice way!

Today Holly and I were booked in for a 'Shampoo & Set' as OTL calls it.

We parked up outside the Grooming Parlour for ten minutes and had to listen to the unhappy sounds of all those dogs left in the kennels while their owners go on holiday.

The door opened and we went inside and we both remembered that Janet, who does all the hair cuts, was not so bad really, but we did drag our paws a little as we were led off to the holding room!

Well, to cut a long tail short, we got washed, coat clipped, claws clipped, blow dried, sprayed with smelly stuff, clipped again, brushed and combed, told we were pretty puppies and put back into a holding cage.

Holly checked me over and I had a look at Holly and we decided that we both looked 'The Business'

Around midday OTL arrived to picked us up, we were so pleased to see him, Holly did a wee on the floor and I jumped up on top of OTL's shoulders and licked both of his ears!

Then it was a rush to get out of the door and into the car!

Just as a treat, OTL took us off to The New Park, loads of space to run and other dogs to say hello to.

Dancing with Holly
We told a few about our 'shampoo & set' and they all said how sorry they were but we did look smart.

There was this enormous Alsatian that was looking at us from the path, in play mode, who came bounding over and said that we both looked super and had we just been brushed?

Hello Basil!
When we got down to the Swimming Hole we both had a splash to try and get rid of the smell, Holly said we should have a swim but it was too cold for that!

Keep splashing, the smell is going!
Off home to see TM and Auntie Shelia and some chicken for dinner, then a cuddle with OTL until he got the whisky out and of course, the shortbread!

A fine end to a busy day!

See you tomorrow, we're off to stay with The Boys for a while, well a few hours!

Luv,

Daisy & Holly

Hunting Foxes

Hi Woofers,

It's Daisy & Holly again.

We've had a funny old day today, first of all we overslept, you know we were still asleep at six thirty!

Old Two Legs was up and working early, so that means we sneak into the bedroom and have a snooze on his bed!

The Missus caught Holly chewing a rawhide chew on the bed and took it away and waved her finger at Holly.

Holly was not a happy puppy, in fact she showed off by being grumpy and not moving off the bed all morning!

Lunch time OTL took us out and we went to The Farm again, it was fun charging in and out of the trees chasing pretend rabbits!

Holly Hunting Pretend Rabbits!
There were some men digging a hole in the ground so they can plant a notice board, they were making so much noise that I got a bit worried and OTL had to carry me on his shoulders until we were past them!

Later on we had to go out again! So this time we ended up at The Lakes, we chased a real rabbit and then Holly spotted a fox! We were of like a couple of Wire Haired Fox Hunting Rockets!

Spot The Fox!
Trouble is, the fox was faster and we lost it in the bushes, so we had to go back to OTL and admit we lost the fox!

Foxy Gone!
We did see some ducks and woofed at them from the bridge but they just hiss'd at us!

Hissin Ducks

So rude!

Tomorrow we have to go and have our hair cut and a bath (Yuk) and our nails clipped and then sprayed with something that make TM go 'Oooooh don't they smell lovely'

I know it cost OTL a fortune but it is not our favourite activity, rolling in the fox poo afterwards is better!

See you tomorrow!

Daisy & Holly

I don't like to be rushed!

Yo Ho Woofers,

It's us back again.

It has been all rush today, first thing there was the 'getting up', we got up to woof at a noise outside the window, at three thirty this morning. I just couldn't get back to sleep again

So, knowing how OTL Two Legs likes a chat, I jumped up and sat on his pillow and helped clean his ear before engaging in meaningful conversation.

He was all 'Grumbly', said something like 'gerrofmyheadandgetbacktoyerownbedbeforeIshutyouintheshed!

Well, I think that was the meaning anyway!

He does love a joke does OTL!

Lunch time we went down to the Sea Wall to have a walk, we had just got into the walk when OTL gets a phone call from The Missus wanting us and the car back ASAP 'cos she's got to go baby sitting.

Well, I hadn't completed my walk and stuff. A girl can't be rushed on these things, you've got to find a suitable sniff close by then make sure there is no one looking and the wind isn't blowing the wrong way. It all takes time, and there is TM shouting hurry up down the phone!

A good place for a wee?

Called back Home!
Just wait till she goes to the loo, Holly and me will give her thirty seconds and then let out such a howling an' woofing an' snarling, she'll see how uncomfortable it is being rushed!

OTL has been playing around with his 'Plamp', no, I didn't know what it was either! It arrived in the post this morning and it is a Plant Clamp that fits onto his camera tripod and holds the stem of the flower he's trying to photograph.

OTL's Plamp Assisted Rose!

Not bad for a start with light just coming from the window, wonder what it's like in the open air?

We went down to see The Boys and met them from school and had a game in the back garden, chasing all over the place. Holly wanted to dig a big hole but it looks like they are re designing the garden so Holly got the warning from TM, 'dig and you'll sleep there tonight'.

Spoil Sport!

See you tomorrow!

Another day with OTL

Hi Woofers!

It's us again!

Not a bad day today, a little windy this morning but at least it's not raining.

The Missus took us for a walk over The Fields this morning and we bumped into a young Bichon Frise called Dexter, he's white all over and just four months old.

He was tearing around all over the place and trying to chase us, trouble was, he was still on the lead, so he got stopped just when he was getting into his stride!

He'll learn! I bet I wasn't such a 'tear around' at his age, or maybe I was!

We had our normal morning 'snoozett' and I just fancied a gnaw of my rawhide chew, so, I lay in Old Two Legs office, in my day bed and proceeded to give it some welly. I even had to warn Holly off a couple of times 'cos I was having so much fun. Well, when I'd finished, it was all over the day bed, so I wandered off and climbed onto TM's bed and stretched out on OTL's pillow, heaven, just Heaven!

A chew well chewed!

OTL had to deliver some stuff down the docks, so we went with him and woofed at the gulls while he took his stuff into the building.

As we were out, well it would be a waste of a trip if we didn't have a little walk, so we did! Off we went to The Farm, all the Poppies were out now and the field was a carpet of red and green.

Poppy Heaven!

Of course, OTL just had to take a picture!

As we were going through the trees towards the corn field OTL saw a Jay land in a tree. Quick as a flash, he whips up his camera and runs of a few thousand pictures of the Jay. Problem was, it was hiding behind a broken branch!

Hiding from OTL

The noise that OTL's camera made was enough to scare the bird off!

Too noisy here!

We were watching it and being very quiet 'cos a Jay is one of the birds that OTL wants to get a good picture off, but not this time!

Watching the Jay flying away!
Tomorow we're off to see The Boys, so we should get a good walk down by the lake, if we are lucky and the rain holds off!

Bye for now and see you in the morning.

Luv,

Daisy & Holly

Hard work on Mondays!

Hi Woofers,

D&H back again!

This morning we both jumped up early to give Old Two Legs an ear washing 'cos fe fancied going out early for a wee in the garden before settling down to an 'After get up Snooze'.

The Missus got up first and let us out, well the door was opened and we stuck our noses outside and got covered with rain drops!

That was it, back to bed, we weren't going out in that lot!

OTL got up later and elected to take us out for our walk across the fields, well, we got about fifty yards from the house and I decided I wasn't going another step, nor was Holly! OTL had to turn around and let us lead him to the football field!

When we got there, OTL let us off the lead and started to walk around the edge of the field, as usual, we stayed in the middle, had a wee, and watched him walk around the field. Maybe he thought he needed the exercise, we just wanted to go back home!

We crashed out until lunch time, when he took us out delivering and we ended up at the New Park.

Loads of sniffs, and for a change we stayed on the path where the horses go.

Sharing a sniff with Sis!
Holly found the Bird Hide and she pretended it was a fort and the Indians were about to attack, so she started to woof and throw pine cones out of the window!
Indians are coming!
We went on further down the horse path and found some prickly plants that look like they were going to grow into big plants, and, OTL says they looked pretty with the rain drops on them, so he took a picture with the phone camera, 'cos he forgot his other one, plonker!

Scratchy Plants!
We just sat there waiting for him, so, while he was taking pictures of the plants, he took one of us!

Sisters!
Holly said that there was lamb for dinner tonight so we rushed OTL back to the car and while I was jumping on the dashboard woofing at a big dog in the car park, I somehow managed to telephone home!

TM answered the phone and confirmed that it was lamb, so with our lamb and some beef that OLT and TM are having, we should be very full little puppies this evening!

See you tomorrow!

Chasing Barn Owls

Hi There!

Daisy & Holly back with you again.

Being Sunday, we get up a little later than normal, four thirty is just about right for Sunday! We sneak onto Old Two Legs side of the bed and give his ear a lick, just to show him we are awake and if he fancies a run across the fields, we're ready.

Normally  he carries on sleeping, lazy OTL!

We went with him to the DIY shop to get some bits for the grass cutter that The Missus is trying to wear out. We stayed in the car and woofed at everyone who came close to us. There was one woman who pulled a face at us, so we wrinkled our noses back and blew raspberries until she went away!

On the way back, we stopped at Northwood Hill, another RSPB site where OTL has got dispensation to bring us on site, providing he clears up after us and we stay on the lead.

He was having a look to see if the Barn Owls were in residence and raising a family. There was no sign of movement and we couldn't find and RSPB management around to ask questions. So, OTL plans to return later tonight and set up his big lens and try to photograph the owls as they fly in and out of the barn.

Then we went onto Cliffe Pools RSPB site and drove all the way down a long and bumpy road. It was horrible, slowly going up and down and up and down and up and down and side to side at the same time.

I was sea sick!

All down the outside of the door, 'cos I was hanging out the window at the time woofing at a Wood Pigeon that was sitting on the telephone wire!

OTL Cleared it all up, and me!

Holly and me had a chance for a run around when OTL stopped for a look over the ponds, but, as he said, 'Nothing Startling Here'!

No birds, lets have a chase!
Then we went onto The Farm for a quick run and a wee. It had to be quick 'cos it started to rain!

Later we went back to Northwood Hill and waited for the Barn Owl, and we waited and waited and waited and got fed up.

The only thing that OTL saw was a Whitethroat and the sun was disappearing and it was almost dark.

Whitethroat
For those who are into this stuff, OTL tells me it was 1/800 sec at f/4 and ISO 6400 using a 600mm f/4 lens. This is what it looks like straight from the camera!

Find the Whitethroat!
Well that was us for the evening, we got back and crashed out in our beds and didn't wake up until OTL told us it was time for a wee!

See you tomorrow.

To Tudeley and beyond!

Hello Woofers,

D&H back again.

What a day! Old Two Legs has spent most of the morning banging and crashing around in the loft doing repairs to the plumbing!

One of the 'jobs' on the long list he gets from The Missus each week, is to fix the dripping overflow on the tank in the loft.

OTL is not safe with water, even when he washes the car or caravan he normally ends up soaking wet, so, playing about with a water system inside the house is full of danger!

Last year he went to turn off the water at the mains before going on holiday and snapped the handle off the tap, so, emergency plumbers, OTL and water don't mix well in this house and normally end up costing him money!

Cutting a long tail short, he managed to install a new thingy and the overflow has stopped dripping and we didn't get a waterfall of water down the stairs or see the house float off down the street!

To celebrate this success, OTL decided to go out to a new place and watch for birds.

He has located a RSPB site at Broadwater Warren, near Tunbridge Wells where he thinks there could be Nightjars lurking! Trouble is, it's new and there are no signs pointing to it and the car parking is limited and the road doesn't show up on the Sat Nav.

Yep, that's right, we didn't find it and OTL's hay fever didn't help either, he gets all 'Grumbly' when he starts sneezing. He got all Showy Off AND Grumbly, turned the car around and went off to Tudeley Woods, which was near, and on the Sat Nav!

Now Tudeley Woods is not a place to get lost in, it is dense undergrowth and a pine plantation. Just to be a spoil sport, OTL kept us on our lead all the time, well the RSPB Manager said that dogs aren't allowed but as we were such well behaved puppies and OTL had a pocket full of poo bags we could go on the site but we had to stay on the lead.

Off we went, sniffing away but there were no doggy sniffs, foxes, yes, squirrels, yes, two legs, yes but very little doggy smells. So we added a few of our own, except that OTL picked them up in the poo bags, but we got away with a wee or two!

No Doggy Smells!
There were some rhododendron bushes scattered around in the woods, the flowers help break up the green and brown of the trees and OTL just had to stop and take a picture, or two!

Rhododendron

Or Three!

Rhododendron in the woods.
We startled a squirrel and chased him up a tree but we know from experience that once they are up the tree then it's not worth chasing them any more, so we let him go with just a warning that we were around!

We had a good four mile walk around the woods and by the time we got back all hot and thirsty and worn out. We slept all the way home, waking just in time to rush in and eat our dinner!

Not the most exciting day, but we did get out to a new place and leave our mark before any other dogs had got there!

Off to sleep now, see you tomorrow!

Musical Friday

Hello All!

D&H back again on a very warm Friday!

Boy, has it been warm today, we were up good and early chasing cats away from the front garden, they were howling and making more noise than the fighting foxes the other night!

It was so bad that The Missus had to get up and growl at them!

Being up so early meant that we got an early walk as well and when we got back Old Two Legs was still in bed snoring!

Today has been spent around the house and out with OTL delivering stuff.

We stopped off at The Forest and had a run around but it was just too hot for serious running so we were glad to be back in the car and the air conditioning!

Luxury or wot!

As we were driving about, OTL put on a CD of the music of Lord of the Rings. It is mostly orchestral music so we were all Oooo'ing to the melody.

It was fun, OTL sounded like someone had stepped on his tail, if he had one!Holly and me managed to Ooo in close harmony, in fact we are getting very good at singing, unlike OTL.

We think that music is not one of his best talents!

OTL didn't take his camera out today so we can't show you what we did, but, TM wants him to put on the picture he took last Christmas of both Holly and me 'cos she reckons that was the best one yet.

So, here it is.

Daisy & Holly

I think I look good in this one!

We are expecting to go out tomorrow after OTL has finished his chores but we have not decided on exactly where, yet.

Holly and I will have a chat tonight before we get to sleep and let OTL know, maybe, before it gets light!

See you soon.

Luv

Daisy & Holly
