Just over the border!

Och Eye McWoofers!

McDaisy, MacHolly, Miss McMay, Miss McApril, Miss McWendy and Freddy de McFerret here again!

Now, sorry we didn't get to up load the blog yesterday, Old Two Legs tried to wreck the big car and had to do some 'emergency repairs' (hit it with wheel wrench!) and that was before he could find a friendly garage man to hit it with a bigger hammer!

You see it was like this................................

OTL has seen some pictures of the Cullin Mountains, taken from a place called Egol. Now the road stops at Egol and it doesn't have a very smooth car park. Couple that with the boat trips to see the seals and other water type animals, it gets a bit crowded. In fact, as OTL says, '.......this is near on bl..dy impossible'!

Well, seeing that we were in a 4x4 OTL drives over some rocks and there is a small scrapping sound underneath the car. 'Don't worry' says OTL and starts on about sump guards and stuff like that!

Of we go, clutching camera and tripod and headed for the beach.

OTL got all 'Arty' and tried several ways of taking the picture and this one was using a 'Big Stopper' which means you have to have a long exposure and that makes the water all misty, well, that was the plan but the water wasn't doing much and it ended up as a sort of foggy look in the water!

Yes, he has even climbed one of the mountains, known as the In Pin!
Holly and I left him to it and went off exploring all the sniffs. We got called back and had to sit still while he took some pictures of us!

Holly Chops trying to 'Out Tart' me!
We did suggest that for a change, we should have one of OTL as well. The Missus was refusing to be photographed unless she was ten miles away, so, Holly and I had fun with the 'Delay' button and every time it got close to taking the picture, we had a wriggle or looked the other way!

Missed Again!
Now, all that was OK but we had to get home so OTL took a look at the underside of the car to find out what was causing the graunching noise!

The underneath of the car has some aluminium sheet things that are screwed to the floor so as to protect the transmission shaft and other things. Now, OTL, riding over the stone had made a bit of a dent in it. When we wanted to go backwards the stone thought it was very rude to try to lift it out of its nice warm bed it had been in for several millions of years!

'See You Jimmy' it said and grabbed the aluminium sheet and shoved it into the transmission shaft!

'Ouch!' said the transmission shaft and tried to eat the aluminium sheet!

So, there we were with the back wheel up on a couple of rocks OTL had made into a ramp and had driven the car back so the wheel was up in the air!

Under the car went OTL with a wheel wrench to bend it all out of the way so it wouldn't make such a terrible noise. After some thumping and bashing and 'Ouch! You B*&5S' OTL managed to make it quiet!

Getting out from under the car we all noticed he had been laying on a couple of freshly dropped sheep poo's!

OTL was a right pongy person!

Off we went and found a garage, with ramps and a man with a big hammer!

So, by the time we had done all that and got home, it was just too late to do the blog!

We are now back in Gretna and looking forward to some Flied Lice, Plawn Balls and some Plawn Clackers!

See you tomorrow!

Luv,

McDaisy, MacHolly, Miss McMay, Miss McApril, Miss McWendy and Freddy de McFerret.

A Day out with McOTL!

Och Eye The Noo!

Hi Woofers!

It's McDaisy, MacHolly, Miss McMay, Miss McApril, Miss McWendy and Freddy de McFerret here again!

We have been out with OTL today 'cos The Missus had some super ideas for her Master Class and decided to slosh the glitter about today!

That was it, the ferrets were on their own and we legged it as soon as OTL had finished his chores!

OTL wanted to try out his Tilt/Shift lens that he went on a course about. You know, how to focus up from here to eternity!

We didn't mind, just as long as he was on a beach that had loads of sand and space to run!

Having looked at the book of maps we decided to go over to the Isle of Skye and we would be taking a Wee Bonny Boat!

The ferry is at Kyle Rhea and is a sort of swing car deck type, blooming scary if you want my opinion!

Not exactly a big sign post!
The ferry has been on the television and even the dog that helps has been featured as well!

Mind you all the jumping on and off the boat looks like hard work!

I said 'Keep in Line' any misbehaviour and you won't be allowed on my boat!
We finally got on the boat and stayed inside the car. Holly reckons she could do the loading bit but was worried that jumping on and off would be a bit dodgy, especially with her short legs!

Nah! I'll stick to chasing rabbits, they can keep this sailor stuff!
Once off the ferry we headed over the mountains and arrived at a super view of the islands and the sea. Of course OTL was jumping up and down and setting up the camera but we had to stay inside the car, too many sheep and lambs was OTL's excuse!

There were about twenty sheep behind him offering advice on how to use the Tilt/Shift lens!
OTL took a couple of shots and we woofer out of the window to keep the sheep away!

Is that a mini Thunder Storm cloud?
It wasn't too long before we arrived at the beach we had seen on the map.

It was GREAT!

No Two Legs, no woofers, no sheep, just sea and sand!

OTL was climbing all over the rocks and sea weed while Holly and I just went potty chasing up and down the sandy beach. Holly even got all brave and rushed into the water, just up to her tummy!

OTL playing with the filters as well!
After a run about we sat on the rocks so we could get dry in the sunshine. Holly tried to sun bathe on her back on one of the rocks and nearly rolled off!

So, in the end she did what I was doing and sat there catching the rays!

This is better that a Doggy Towel!
I saw some gulls land behind the rocks OTL was trying to photograph so I rushed up to the top and woofed them away!

Woof off or we will be dining of Skewered Seagull tonight!
Well, we didn't want them to do a poo in OTL's camera bag!

While OTL was trying to get a wall of rock in focus from start to finish, I sat out on the sand woofing at Holly to wake up!

Holly Dog is just out of sight on the bottom of the picture, too tired to move!
We had a great time and OTL even gave us a rub down with the towel before he let us get back in the car, just in case we had rolled on any sheep poo!

As if!

Bach home TM had been sloshing it all about and ended up not making and stuff 'cos she messed up the picture by trying to do too much to it. A bad case of not knowing when to stop and leave it alone!

We got a bowl of chicken and a carrot as a treat afterwards!

Now we are off for a snooze before bed time!

See you tomorrow and we think TM is coming with us over to Skye to visit another sandy beach!

Do you think she will be dashing into the water as well as us?

I'll let you know!

Now, I see Archie Babe is doing well, good lad, keep on with the medicine it will do you good in the end, even if yo do manage to spit it all around the kitchen! I remember when Snowflake had to have some jollop and OTL had to hold her while the vet squirted it down her throat, it was then that she spat it all back, all over the vet and the consulting room!

In the end she had to have an injection every day, done by the vet who she managed to give a nip to on the last injection!

Cable car? Yes we have seen that and OTL says that he and cousin Alun went up there to see some snow two or three of years ago. OTL says they do some great Hot Chocolate and Carrot Cake!

Bye for now.

Luv,

McDaisy, MacHolly, Miss McMay, Miss McApril, Miss McWendy and Freddy de McFerret.

We see the sun!

Aye the Noo!

McDaisy, MacHolly, Miss McMay, Miss McApril, Miss McWendy and Freddy de McFerret here!

Well, last night we kept on being woken up, first it was The Missus snoring, then it was Old Two Legs snoring and finally it was the rain belting down and making a terrible racket pounding away on the roof!

It did that several times during the night, rain, TM, rain, OTL, rain, rain and finally, just before it was time to wake up, really heavy rain!

Then it all stopped.

OTL stopped snoring, TM stopped snoring and the rain stopped raining!

After a little while the caravan was filled with light, it was the sun peeking through the curtains!

TM announced that she wanted to go into Fort William for some 'Retail Thererpy' whatever that is!

So, after clearing up the ferret cages and walking us woofers we were off in the car!

TM wanted to find a 'Craft Shop' and OTL said he wanted to see if there was a Doggy Shop to get some more treats for us and the ferrets!

When we got there, and after a long trip around the trading estates we found a 'Pet Shop' that was nothing like what we wanted, however, OTL found some treats that were made from 90% chicken breast and they tasted 'WONDERFUL!'

Holly and I demolished the first bar and then we 'Liberated' the other two while OTL wasn't looking!

It was decided that TM would get out of the car and have a wander down the High Street while OTL took us for a walk in the forest near to Ben Nevis.

So, off we went and found the car park at the bottom of a hill called 'Cow Hill'

Look, snow!
We started to climb, watching out for stray 'Cows' but didn't see any. What we did see was the mountain called Ben Nevis and it had snow on the top!

No Cows Yet!
Holly was wondering if OTL had plans to climb up Ben Nevis via Cow Hill but it looked too far away, even for OTL!

It's a long way up there!
We met up with some Two Legs who were out for a run up and down the hill. Now even we could see that they were very hot, puffing and blowing and looking very uncomfortable!

I mean, why?

We came across a path that lead off towards the top of the hill and OTL decided it would be fun to view from the top. Not that Holly and I thought it such fun but to be able to walk off the lead made a good change!

Then it happened, OTL's mobile phone rang, it was TM wanting to be picked up from the High Street. She had finished spending all her money and wanted to get back to the caravan to try out some of the stuff she had purchased!

So that was it, no climbing to the top of Cow Hill, we would have to wait until next time to do that!

Hey! We have got to go all the way down now!
Off we set and I must admit, it was easier going down hill than going up hill!

Last on down is a Ferret!
It wasn't too long before we picked up TM from the High Street and headed back to the caravan where we all went out for a walk with OTL, that is, first us woofers, then the ferrets!

TM stayed in and read her book on 'Murder & Mayhem' some really dark story!

We had Doggy Scoff and retired to bed for a snooze before night time came!

We left OTL to go off to see if the sunset was worth photographing while we enjoyed taking over the whole bed!

See you tomorrow!

Luv,

McDaisy, MacHolly, Miss McMay, Miss McApril, Miss McWendy and Freddy de McFerret.

I remember when I was a pup........................!

Och! Eye the Noo!

It's us again!

McDaisy, MacHolly, Miss McMay, Miss McApril, Miss McWendy and Freddy de McFerret again!

Now first things first, Archie Babe, being a bit Tom & Dick is a doggy thing, we all do it from time to time! I was once told by an old Labrador Woofer that being a dog means that you eat everything that you can get in your mouth and if it upsets you later on...........throw it up!

Mind you, if the reason is that the vet has stuffed something down your throat then you are allowed to throw up all over him!

As I told you yesterday, we all set off for a place called Kishorn where The  Missus has pointed to many a lobster resting in a tank of water and said 'That One!'

Well, today was going to be a good day for lobsters 'cos when we got there and Old Two Legs and TM walked up to the counter and asked for a lobster each, they were told they didn't have any!

Yay!

Lobsters 1 TM&OTL 0!

Mind you, to compensate, TM had a big plate full of Langoustine, so it was......

TM 1 Langoustine 0!

OTL had a plate of 'hand dived' Scallops in Garlic!

Holly and I had to stay in the car and wait until these two Guzzle Guts had finish depleting the ocean of wild life!

After that we headed off to Applecross where I showed Holly the beach I had been on when I was just a year old puppy!

It's just as big as it was then!

When I was there it was boiling hot and sunny and the tide was out and I was running all over the place!

Today it was Wet and Rainy but the tide was out and Holly and I dashed all over the place. I even found a big dead starfish that Holly and I had a good roll in!

This really honks!
Getting onto the beach was fun and what was even funnier was watching Holly instruct TM on how to jump a stream!

Waggle your tail 'cos it helps!
I went all the way down to the waters edge and had a paddle but Holly decided to keep to the sand, that was until she found herself surrounded by a stream so in the end she had to go paddling!

Come on, just a little paddle!
Of course, OTL just had to take a shot 'for the records'!

I just don't do water!
OTL decided that he wanted a wee, so off he goes to a big rock and Holly and I stood guard while he did the wee. Well, why not? He stands guard while we have a wee or a poo!

TM had hold of the camera so as OTL got up close she rattled off a couple of shots!

OTL, fresh from a wee!
We headed back to the caravan and took the road over the mountain, well it was high enough to have the clouds from the sky and the rain that was trapped in the cloud!

OTL said it was called 'The Pass of the Cattle' and the highest road in the UK!

That was all very interesting but I must admit, I was glad when we dropped out of the clouds and back to sea level!

Coming down from the Pass of Cattle.
Back at the caravan OTL took the ferrets out for a run about and came across this butterfly. From memory, OTL reckons it is called a 'Green Vein' butterfly.

Dunno why!

'ere mate, wot's your name?
We had chicken this evening so now we are looking forward to a snooze before bedtime!

TM says we are heading into Fort William tomorrow to do some shopping and Holly says that there might be a Doggy Shop there for us to get some treats 'cos we have nearly finished all the treats we brought away with us from home!

See you tomorrow.

Keep yer tail up Archie Babe!

Luv,

McDaisy, MacHolly, Miss McMay, Miss McApril, Miss McWendy and Freddy de McFerret.

Holly has a Paddle!

Hoots Mon!

McDaisy, MacHolly, Miss McMay, Miss McApril, Miss McWendy and Freddy de McFerret with you again!

We have had a super day today!

OK, it started off pouring with rain but as we were cuddled up to Old Two Legs on a nice warm bed, we didn't mind the rain!

By the time the ferrets had been sorted and it was time for our morning walk, the rain had stopped!

After a while, OTL was ready to take us out. The Missus was sloshing ink and paint all over the place so we felt safer going out with OTL!

We started off on a road close to the caravan site but it didn't go anywhere, I suppose it is a bit like Glen Garry but this time we ended up looking at Eilean Donan castle from the back, a view not seen by many of the visitors to the castle!

Eilean Donan from behind!

Holly and I were off the lead and searching for sniffs when this whacking great Boxer Woofer came around the corner!

Right scary it was until we discovered he was a big wimp! Even bigger wimp than me!

We told him to Woof Off, and he did!

As you can see from the picture, it wasn't all sunshine and there was still plenty of rain in the sky!

It could get wet later!
On our way to see some old Brochs we came across a sign by the side of the road which made OTL stop the car to get a picture!

Holly and I decided to stay in the car and keep an eye open for ant Martian Tourists!

Where is the Spaceship Parking Bay?
OTL found a beach for us to have a wander but it was just too stony and OTL didn't want us hunting rabbits in the gorse bushes, so, back in the car we get!

Too Stony for us woofers!
OTL was hunting for a couple of Brochs he had seen marked on the map. When we finally found them, up another dead end road in a place called Glenelg, they certainly impressed OTL!

Built 1,900 - 2,300 years ago!
This one looked newer than the other one but the other one had steps you could climb up, well OTL, not us!

Around 2,000 years ago someone climbed these stairs to look out down the glen!
When you consider how long ago these were built, they have lasted very well. All of the houses built in the last hundred years won't last another hundred!

The first one as seen from the second one!
Now, as you would guess, no woofers are allowed into these places, I don't know why, I'm sure they had woofers in the days when these brochs were being lived in!

We finally dragged OTL away and went hunting for a place where we could be let off the lead for a run about.

We found it!

There was this enormous beach made of sand and the tide was out!

Holly and I dived out of the car and dashed onto the beach. Holly, being Holly, chased after me and didn't notice I had run into a big pool of water!

Suddenly she stopped and said 'Me Bits are Wet!'

Both OTL and I laughed at that and after a few moments so did Holly!

Holly, getting her bits wet!
I then got Holly to run into the waves but she didn't run too far, just up to her paws!

No, this is far enough
It was great fun dashing about on the beach, we went from one end to the other and at one point both Holly and I had a good roll one the sand and OTL was too far away to stop us!

Driving back, there was a place where you can stop and see down the mountain to where our caravan site is at Shiel Bridge.

We iz 'ere!
Now, we know that out in the country side technology takes some time to reach the little villages, take the Internet connection here, it's terrible! What would take a couple of seconds back home can take hours up here!

So, when OTL spotted this fuel pump, he just had to stop and record the local 'Garage'!

I bet they got stables out the back!
If the weather is OK tomorrow, we are off to a place called Kishorn where The Missus has been promised a whole freshly cooked lobster!

She has been here before and has eaten many a fat lobster she has chosen from the tanks at the back of the restaurant!

There is also a really super sandy beach I visited when I was a puppy and I'm just busting to show it to Holly!

I'll let you know what happens tomorrow!

Bye for now!

Luv,

McDaisy, MacHolly, Miss McMay, Miss McApril, Miss McWendy and Freddy de McFerret.

A little rain!

Hoots Mon!

McDaisy, MacHolly, Miss McMay, Miss McApril, Miss McWendy and Freddy de McFerret here!

Well, wot a fun day we have had!

The rain stayed away all morning while Old Two Legs was doing his chores and cleaning and walking and feeding and all the other stuff he does including Miss April and her medicines!

We have finished with the anti-biotic stuff that was prescribed for her sore paw and as we said yesterday, it isn't sore but just a bit swollen, so we will be making a trip to the vet when we get back, unless it has gone down of course!

Mind you, that doesn't stop Miss McApril from exploring in the undergrowth!

Bet you can't see me!
All the ferrets had a ferret around in the Bluebells and were even digging in the moss!

I sniff Mouses!
After his chores, OTL loaded us up in the car and we headed off to Glen Garry where there is a single track road that leads nowhere but is twenty two miles long!

We managed to get out for a couple of walks off the lead which was great 'cos we aren't allowed off the lead in the caravan place and of course we have to watch out for cars running up and down the road!

There was one place we wanted to get out but OTL said it would not be wise, especially as we were making so much woofing noise!

Still, just think of it, if we moved up here we wouldn't be troubled with cats poo'ing in the garden it would be Red Deer poo'ing on the drive!

Come out here and say that!
There were some super views along the road but because of the rain OTL decided to leave the big camera and lens in the bag and instead use his small camera.

Glen Garry in the rain!
On our first stop we jumped out and were off the lead as soon as we got out, which was rather handy 'cos we both were in need of a wee and a poo! Miss Holly Chops was first to notice it was raining harder than when we first got out of the car and decided that walking off the lead is fun but a nice warm, dry car with the heater turned up was far more preferable!

Here, my tails getting wet!
Holly took the lead and we were heading back to the car at full speed, we didn't wait for OTL to pick us up, our names not Archie Babe!

Last one back is a Ferret!
Once we had arrived at the end of the road, we turned around and headed back! Well, we couldn't go any further so there was no point in hanging about!

About half way back the rain stopped, so OTL pulled over onto the side of the road and we headed out for another run off the lead!

Look! Sand!
This time we got onto an island in the middle of a flooded bit of the glen but the water level had gone down so we were able to walk across the rocks to the island. We even found a sandy beach, so I had a roll and so did Holly!

That was until OTL spotted us and told us to 'Behave'!

Spoil Sport!

Then it started to rain again, so back to the car!

We headed back to the caravan and OTL telephoned to The Missus to arrange for a couple of warm Doggy Towels to be ready for us when we got back!

We do love a good rub down with a warm towel!

That was followed by a bowl of chicken and a teeth cleaning chew then onto the bed to cuddle up to the Raccoon that has lost one of its squeaks!

So, that's it for today, the locals have forecast howling gales tomorrow so it looks like it could be another trip out in the car to look at the misty mountains!

Bye bye for now.

Luv,

McDaisy, MacHolly, Miss McMay, Miss McApril, Miss McWendy and Freddy de McFerret.

Here be Storms we are told!

Och Eye Woofers!

McDaisy, MacHolly, Miss McMay, Miss McApril, Miss McWendy and Freddy de McFerret here!

Well, last night Old Two Legs decided to 'Rest'! There is no TV 'cos the mountain is in the way and the DVD box is behind loads of other stuff, so we have left it there. The awning is in the back of the car and won't get put up at least for the next few days 'cos the locals have said that there will be heavy rain tomorrow and howling gales the day after! Or, as it is known in the doggy world, it will be a 'Quick Poo Day'!

Today we have been into the local town called Kyle of Lochalsh to get some shopping and Old Two Legs spotted the bridge to Skye!

Fly Bonnie Car like a bird on the wing, over the Bridge to Skye!
The Missus found a seafood bar, so lunchtime it was Prawns for TM and Cullen Skink for OTL!

I was a bit bored waiting for them to finish their shopping, so I grabbed 'Forty Winks' on the front seat!

Just resting my eyes!
I must admit that Cullen Skink didn't really get me interested but Holly Chops was straight into the bowl where OTL had left a few licks, and she was chasing it around the caravan floor!

After lunch OTL took us out for a walk along the road that leads up the glen and when we started it was not raining!

Dunno, could be one of those Haggis Things!
Behind the campsite runs the River Croe, just right for spotting a 'Dipper', which is a bird that OTL has yet to 'See' in the flesh!

No, he didn't see one today either!

Wot? No Dippers!
We headed up the footpath and came to a bridge. Not when I was a puppy I didn't like these bridges and OTL had to carry me across, but now, I'm all grown up and they don't scare me at all!

Much!

To think I used to be scared of these!
We kept on stopping to see if there were any dipper birds but nothing, no kingfishers, wagtails or dippers, just water!

Where have all the birdies gone?
By now the rain had returned and we were all getting wet so we were pleased when the road ended and it was only footpaths up into the hills.

We took a photo, just to prove we got to the end and then turned around and headed back to the caravan.

The end of the road!
All along the road there were bluebells flowering and OTL said they were the 'Bluebells of Scotland' which are supposed to be famous.

So, here are some, just for you!

The Bluebells of Scotland!
By the time we got back we were soaking wet, so a rub down with the Doggy Towels and wrapped up in a car blanket for a snooze before dinner!

Lulled to sleep by the pitter patter of rain drops on the caravan roof!
We are planning on going out with OTL tomorrow to do some serious photography with his Tilt/Shift lens and big camera, providing it isn't raining too much!

See you all tomorrow and Good news on Archie Babes reduction in medications. Miss April has dropped one of her medications, the one for her sore paw. It is still swollen, well it looks a bit bigger than the others but it is not sore, so that is a good sign!

Bye for now.

Luv,

McDaisy, MacHolly, Miss McMay, Miss McApril, Miss McWendy and Freddy de McFerret!

Tuesday, 17 May 2016

We are here!

Hi Woofers!

It's Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss April, Miss Wendy and Freddy de Ferret!

Well, we have finally landed in Scotland! The journey up her was just a bit boring but we all spent the time catching up on our sleep! Gretna Green was about the same as we remembered it except there is a new Kebab Shop in the high street!

The Missus instructed Old Two Legs to head off to the Chinese Takeaway for some Flied Plawns and Plawn Clackers!

We arrived outside the restaurant but it was close, on a Monday, Closed!!

That was it, OTL rattled on the door and banged his bald head on the window but they wouldn't open up!

So, off we went to the Kebab Shop and ordered up a Kofti Kebab and a Burger in a Bun. TM doesn't do foreign food so she had the Burger which is made out of Argentinian Beef, with a bun made from Indian flour and garnished with vegetables from Africa and mayonnaise from Germany!

So much for her not 'Doing' foreign food!

OTL doesn't care, his out look is, 'I'm hungry, does that food taste good, I'll eat it all but don't tell me what it's made of!'

You know, he makes a good woofer does OTL, Archie Babe would be proud of him!

Holly and I shared the Kebab, which tasted super, the Burger wasn't so good, but we forced it down!

OTL and Tm shared a bottle of Champagne and OTL even had a beer as well, so they slept like logs!

Which was just as well 'cos the alarm went off at five thirty so we could get everything packed away and leaving the Gretna Caravan Site at seven!

Holly and I went back to sleep as soon as we got going but the ferrets stayed awake a little longer just so they could see what the traffic was like on the motorway but after about ten minutes they got bored and went to sleep!

The weather was great on the journey, loads of sunshine, that was until we were about half an hour away from the caravan site, then it started to rain!

We finally arrived in a shower of water from the puddles on the road that led to the site. Not only were there big puddles but there were big piles of poo from a herd of 'Highland Coos' that were ambling up the road in front of us.

So, all over the front of the caravan is lumps of poo that OTL had to wash off when he set up the caravan.

Setting it up is always fun, first is the satellite dish is powered up to lock onto the satellite, not today, the dish kept on going around and around looking for a signal but the mountains were blocking the signal, so that means we will be watching DVDs this holiday!

We have decided that OTL can put up the awning tomorrow, providing the rain stops of course!

We have got onto the Internet via the Wi-Fi here but it is a bit slow, well, I mean, very slow, well, in fact it is so slow that OTL reckons it would be quicker to write it all down on paper and post it second class!

Never mind, we will do our best to post some snaps tomorrow!

By the way, a Big Hello to Linda from Montreal, Canada! We are glad you like the blog and our frogs. We love to chase the frogs but they are just too quick. Miss May also loves frogs but she says she can't eat a whole one in one sitting!

See you all tomorrow!

Luv,

McDaisy, MacHolly, Miss McMay, Miss McApril, Miss McWendy and Freddy de McFerret!
