Today it rained, for a change!

Hello Woofers!

McDaisy & MacHolly here on the very wet Isle of Mull!

Today the rain has been pouring down, we woke up to the sound of a thousand squirrels charging across the caravan roof, well that's what Holly thought it was until we worked out it was just the rain dancing on the roof.

However, our barking did wake The Missus up and when she got out of bed, we jumped in, to give Old Two Legs a lick and a cuddle!

We went for our morning walk down the forest with OTL, but because it was raining so much, we decided to go for a walk in the forest instead of down the track!

It's dry in here!

It was fun charging about the tree trunks, jumping over the rocks, the ones the trees had pushed up out of the ground as they grew taller!

Strong trees!

OTL decided that as he couldn't get us to walk on the path, he might as well join us in the forest, so he had some fun photographing the trees and the fungi that was growing on the forest floor!

A woody game of 'Chase'
This one is called Rufous Milk Cap (we think) and it grows under conifers, which are the trees in the forest, so we reckon we are right. OTL says they are not poisonousness but taste like milk which turns to a horrible 'acrid' taste after about a minute.

Rufous Milk Cap
So we don't touch them at all!

As it has been raining we stayed in the caravan and had a snooze for a change and OTL and TM did some reading.

This afternoon we went down to the town and TM booked up a day out on a boat searching for whales, porpoises, dolphins, basking sharks, other stuff like that!

We will be spending the day with OTL so we are going to get him to take us back to Calgary Bay again 'cos we want to have another run on the sand, and dig a bigger hole this time!

Chicken tonight and a cuddle with TM 'cos OTL is off photographing eagles tomorrow, again, let's hope he gets a good picture this time!

See you tomorrow.

Luv,

McDaisy & MacHolly

Machair, sand & Mountains

Yo Ho Woofers!

McDaisy & MacHolly here again!

What a super day today, we started off in the forest as normal, and Old Two Legs started taking some photo's of the wild life. He said he saw a Coal Tit, Blue Tit and a Great Tit. Holly said all he needed was a Crested Tit and a Long Tailed Tit and he would have had the full set!

Coal Tit
When we got back to the van we had to wait for The Missus to finish getting ready, she take sooo long getting ready that we got bored and started to have a 'Rough & Tumble' on the seats.

'Rough & Tumble'
That was when OTL told us off and made us sit still. Boring or what?

Finally we were off and we stopped at a small harbour to see if there were any Herons fishing 'cos OTL has them on his 'List' of things to photograph.

Nothing there, just a few ducks and a gull or two!

Next stop was Calgary Bay, it was Amazing!

The beach was all sand for what seemed like miles. We raced through the machair and just ran, I mean full bore, flat out, head down, tail straight up type of run.

Speed it a drug!
It was brilliant!

Holly and me went all over the beach, into the water, into the stream that ran into the sea and Holly found a super sniff she just had to roll in!

A sailing sniff for Holly!
The best bit was, we dug the most enormous hole in the sand and OTL and TM just stood there laughing at us doing it!

Dual Digging!
We dug together, then on our own then side by side and finally we threw some sand at OTL for fun!

Here's sand in your face!

Back home they would be all upset, but here, it was all fun, fun, fun!

After we had finished on the beach we went across the water in a boat called a 'Ferry'. OTL had to throw us in and out of the 'Ferry' because it was so small!

We landed on an island called Ulva which was very strange 'cos there were no roads there and you had to walk everywhere!

OTL & TM had lunch and we just had to mug OTL for some of his ham sandwich 'cos TM sat there and finished off her prawns without offering us a nibble!

Aww! Common, Gissa Bit of Ham?
We have voted TM the meanest person today because all we wanted was a taste, or two, or three!

OTL pointed out a mountain called Ben More that was in full view, it normally has clouds at the top. He told us the story of when he climbed it, again, he can get soo boring when he goes on about his mountains!

Ben More across the Loch
Still, it does look a long way to the top!

We got some liver tonight so both Holly and me have got 'Grumbly Tums' just thinking about it!

Early to bed tonight 'cos we may get to go back to Calgary Bay tomorrow, if we are lucky!

See you tomorrow.

Luv,

McDaisy & MacHolly

Paddling in a Loch or two

Hello Woofers!

McDaisy & MacHolly here again!

The sun has been shining today and Old Two Legs and us have been out in the car visiting new places, well new for us but OTL has been there before!

First of all we went up to the forest for a run and a wee before setting off. OTL was playing with his camera, so, while we waited for him we chased some rabbits and a couple of mice we thought we heard rustling in the grass!

Inside looking Out!
We visited a place called Lochbuie, there must be no more than six or seven houses there and a church. The beach was all stony but when the tide went out we managed to have a run along the sand, and a paddle!

Lochbuie  Beach
There were some sheep there as well but OTL wouldn't let us chase them!

Paddling in Lochbuie

We were just about to head back to the car when we spotted a rams horn, just one, all on it's own, on top of a rock. Well we had a sniff, trying to work out why it had dropped off. Holly said that they always drop off if you chase them and did I know that a lizard can drop his tail if you chase him, it makes him lighter and so he can run faster!

Well, it wasn't us!
I said she was talking through her tail!

Then we had a fight and OTL told us both off!

Our next stop was a place called Groggan, it was at the end of a long road and we woofed at the sheep and a couple of Herons sitting on some rocks.

Then we got out and had another game of 'Chase' and a paddle!

Chase me if you can!
This time we didn't see any sheep, so we were good little puppies and just woofed at the Gulls.

The clouds above the mountains looked good and so did a waterfall under a bridge, so OTL took a picture!

Pretty waterfall!

When we got back to the caravan, there was chicken for dinner and afterwards we had a chase around the field, loads of fun beating each other up!

We are off with The Missus tomorrow, so we will be on our best behaviour.

Not sure just where we are going but we bet it will be fun!

See you tomorrow.

McDaisy & MacHolly

An Otter day than Yesterday!

Daisy Who?

Hello Woofers!

McDaisy & MacHolly here again!

Do you like the picture at the top?

I took that with OTL's camera while he wasn't looking!

We have been out with The Missus and Old Two Legs all day today!

It started off with us having a game of 'chase' with OTL and a ball. There is loads of room here on the caravan site and we have a great time running around!

Our Yard!

OTL said he would show TM the White Tailed Eagles nest with the two young chicks and also the parents who would be close to the nest. That was it, TM had not seen a White Tailed Eagle close up so she was up for a day 'Eagle watching'

When we arrived, the two adults were standing guard and TM was all excited looking at the birds through her new binoculars. Holly and me had seen them before so we stayed in the car to keep safe!

We then drove down the side of a sea loch, Holly and me were looking for Great Black Backed Gulls 'cos Holly had an idea they tasted just like chicken and wanted a nibble to try!

Suddenly OTL stopped the car and said that he had seen an otter in the water. As we had never met an otter before we were not sure if it would like us for lunch, so we stayed in the car looking out the window, just in case!

OTL got his big lens out and the big tripod and went creeping along the road like a 'Big Game Hunter'!

He managed to get a few pictures of the otter which weren't too bad!

Do I Look Good or what?
After that we went off to another loch where OTL said there were no eagles, no otters and no sheep! Which was a bit boring but at least the sun was shining and we had a good run along the beach!

We are going back there again tomorrow with OTL 'cos he says he knows of a sandy beach we can have a run along!

Chicken tonight followed by mugging OTL for some nibbles.

This is a great holiday, loads of food, walks and new animals to look at!

See you tomorrow.

McDaisy & MacHolly

Chasing Eagles and Ticks

Hello Woofers!

McDaisy & MacHolly here again, a little damp but happy!

Sorry we are late but by the time we got back, the Wi-Fi shop had closed!

So we have written down all of our adventures and even developed a couple of photo's of us exploring Mull.

First of all, we were getting ready to go out with Old Two Legs and he was loading the car up with all the necessary stuff. Nibbles, toys, sun cream, midge cream and our lunch and special mobile water bowl.

Well...... he got as far as midge cream, then he came out of the awning with two food bowls and a water bowl in his hands, he then managed to step into the mole hole we had been 'enlarging' and the water bowl together with the food bowl containing our tin of doggy split between me and Holly.

Up in the air went the bowls and OTL fell flat on his face, under the descending bowls, which managed to land on OTL, so nothing was broken! However, the food and water went everywhere, including over OTL!

You know, he smelt Yummy all day!

First of all we went down to the forest for a run up and down the track, doing some climbing and generally loosening up!

Then off we went to our first stop, Loch Na Keal where OTL says there are Otters and Eagles and loads of other stuff. Holly had a good sniff around and said she could smell the faint smell of Otter but the smell of sheep was even 'otter!

Otter Sniffin!
Even OTL laughed at that one!

We then spent some time looking for Lobsters 'cos The Missus likes lobsters and she is getting fed up with steak and chips every night, except when we get a Chinese meal or some fish and chips.

Lobsters Gone!

After that we went off to watch a White Tailed Eagle hunting for food and feeding the two chicks in the nest. It was a bit far away but when the eagle took off it was enormous, I mean, it could pick Holly and me up in it's talons with no trouble at all. We would be just a snack for it's chicks!

Holly and me stayed inside the car and told OTL to lock the door when he got out, we didn't want to take any chances!

Next stop was Glen More, it's called that 'cos there is a mountain there called Ben More and OTL has climbed all the way up to the top!

Looking for the Horseman!
There is a story of a Headless Rider that is supposed to appear in the glen and scare the tails of little doggies like us, so we sent OTL out first to check he was not around and that the eagles were back in bed!
Only after that would we get out for a wee!

Looking for Ticks!
We had a run along the old road but it started to rain again so we went back to the car. On the way, OTL and us got soaking wet and Holly picked up a Tick.

OTL got it out later when we got back to the caravan. So that only leaves TM to pick up a Tick and then we would all have picked up one this holiday! Mind you, OTL and mine were only crawling on us when OTL spotted them, but Holly had one that was digging it's way in to her skin. Luckily OTL has some special tools for getting them out in one bit, then he puts them down the Two Legs Poo Box!

After dinner of Lambs Liver and biscuits we had a gentle snooze before bed, dreaming of Headless Eagles climbing mountains on horse back!

See you tomorrow!

McDaisy & MacHolly

Salen Show

Hello Woofers!

McDaisy & MacHolly here again.

Have a look at yesterdays blog, OTL has put some photos on it!

Sorry we didn't put anything up on the blog yesterday but we had really big problems.......every time we looked out of the window, it rained, then it rained some more. In fact the field we were in was mostly water with bits of grass floating on top!

As soon as we went out for a wee, we were up to our knees in the wet stuff!

So we spent most of the day snoozing and woofing at the camper vans going in and out.

Snoozing the rain away!
There was a strange monster messing about with our water barrel, so we gave it a seriously good woofing, but it turned out to be The Missus in a 'Basher'!

A Monster!

Enough to scare off any monsters!

Today was something else!

We had a good run this morning, doing a bit of rock climbing and running through the forest.

Rock Climbing.
Although cloudy it did not rain, which was just as well 'cos we have been to the Salen Show!

Salen (pronounced Sarlen), is half way up the Isle of Mull, on the right hand side, next to the sea. Salen Show is an agricultural show which has cattle and sheep and horses on show and they have contests for which is the best. There is a fell running contest for the Two Legs but that only takes about fifteen minutes so it can't be very far to run. We said that OTL should enter but he didn't have any running shoes with him and had to decline!

TM said that we should enter the Doggy Contest but we didn't want to upset the locals by winning all the doggy prizes!

OTL took some pictures of the sheep and the cattle and Holly got told off for woofing at the Highland Cattle, we had to get up and stand at the back of the crowd, so we didn't see too much of that bit of the show! OTL said that one of the cattle was trying to give us the old 'Hairy Eyeball' but was not nearly as good at it as us!

The Highland Hairy Eyeball!
When we got back to the caravan, the water had drained out of the field and we could drive across instead of 'sailing' across!

We had some chicken and biscuits and a snooze before going into Tobermory where Old Two Legs had discovered a shop where you could have a cup of chocolate and use their Wi-Fi to get onto the internet.

Tomorrow OTL has said that we can go to to beach if we are good girls and don't chase any more Highland Cattle, which is OK by us 'cos they smelt a bit poo'y anyway and some didn't even know how to blow their noses!

See you tomorrow!

McDaisy & MacHolly

Searching for Eagles and Haggis!

Hello Woofers!

McDaisy & MacHolly back with you from the wild Highlands of Scotland!

We woke Old Two Legs up real early this morning so he should not miss his eagle viewing boat trip. We both jumped onto the bed and while I held his head still, Holly ave his ear a good washing.

That woke him up in double quick time!

The Missus took us for our early morning walk around the camp site, it was funny hearing the other two legs snoring inside their tents!

We spent most of the morning catching up on our sleep and chasing moles!

Yep, this camp site has moles sticking their head up above ground every so often and both Holly and me have been trying to catch them, why we even tried to dig one out!

OTL came back and said that he had learnt a lot about trying to photograph Whit Tailed Eagles, like he's not very good at it!

White Tailed Eagle
So he is going back next week to have another try at getting some good photos, now he knows what the birds do to grab the fish the boatman throws in for them!

We gave him a cuddle when he got back and asked if we could go for a long walk down into the forest again, even The Missus said she wanted to go!

Hide & Seek with TM
We started of with some 'Chase' games, then we pretended to be a Haggis and run along the side of the mountain, Holly was good at that!

Then we tried some 'White Water Stream Walking',that was fun and Holly kept falling into deep holes!

White Water Walking

Then Holly found an old Quarry that was full of water and suggested a swim, but the walls were too steep and we couldn't get down!

We had some fun with TM, playing 'Hide & Seek', she was not very good at hiding, especially when she stood I the middle of the path!

As normal, Holly got all worn out, what with all this mountain climbing and chasing up and down paths and swimming in streams, she was too worn out to get up the steep hill.

Carrying Holly
Good old OTL, he carried her all the way up to the top. Trouble was, he was singing all the way up, 'She Ain't Heavy, She's My Puppy!

Tonight we have chicken for dinner, so we are looking forward to that.

Tomorrow it may be a bit rainy but OTL has promised to take us to the beach, so claws crossed, we may get a paddle in the sea yet!

Bye bye for now!

What a place to be!!!

Hi Woofers!

We are going to have a super holiday if today is anything to go by!

McDaisy & MacHolly have been for a long walk with OTL into the forest. We have chased rabbits and foxes, scared off Hooded Crows that really are strange looking crows, not like we have at home!

Holly has been keeping an eye out for eagles that may eat doggies like us and Holly reckons we are a tasty snack for one of those birds!

Sniffing and looking for eagles!

After lunch we went down into Tobermory where all the houses and shops are painted different colours, very bright but it makes my eyes go wobbly!

OTL has sorted out the power for the computer, he brought a gissmo that supplies the right sort of electricity that computers eat, or some thing like that!

We have been telling him where to drive and when to turn left or right and at one stage we all got lost and had to rely on the SatNav to show us the way back home again!

I think we are lost again!!!!
Tonight we have got chicken, we know that 'cos we went shopping with TM but had to stay outside while she got the stuff she wanted. When she came out, she said that the staff were terrible and all of them looked like they had been sucking lemons!

Whatever they are, they must be bad to get TM going all 'Grumbly'!

We are staying with TM tomorrow 'cos OTLis off to do some photographing of eagles and we don't fancy them swooping down and picking us up instead of fish, so he is on his own!!!

Bye bye for now and we'll be back with you tomorrow, that's if the eagles don't get OTL instead of the fish!

Luv,

McDaisy & MacHolly

We are Here!

Hello Woofers!

We are here!

Daisy and Holly have finally got to Tobermory and it's a super place!

We left the camp site this morning at seven and drove through some wonderful country, past mountains and streams and big lakes called a Loch.

We stood guard while Old Two Legs and The Missus had their lunch.

On Guard!
We are off to explore the forest so we will report later on the monsters we find!

It takes so long for this blog to up load using a Dongle that twice the Laptop battery ran out!

OTL will have to look at a quicker way, maybe an Internet Cafe if he can find one!

Bye bye for now.

McDaisy & MacHolly

On Our Way!

Hello Woofers!

Here we are again, Daisy & Holly very near to Scotland.

We were up good and early today to make sure Old Two Legs and The Missus were awake and ready to get going.
Only problem was, Holly didn't read the time properly and we got OTL up at two thirty in the morning!

so we ran down stairs and pretended we just wanted a wee!

At about six, both Holly and me woke them both up with a good ear licking and we were off!

The journey was rather boring, so far, we had some rain, we wee'd in a couple of motorway service stations, woofed at the truck drivers and went back to sleep

Finally we arrived at the camp site, a place called Englethorpe, strange name.

We got out of the car with OTL and went into the office.

The woman behind the counter told OTL to take us out of the office and tie us up to the post outside!

OTL asked if it was in some sort of shelter 'cos it was hissing down with rain, it wasn't and OTL was not happy!

So we had to go back into the car until he had paid for the night and got some place to park the caravan.

All over this caravan site there are anti dog notices saying we can't poo or go off the lead and keep to the path and stuff like that!

OTL says that these places are run by people who like lot's of 'Rules' and they are not happy unless there are loads of rules and if you don't keep the rules you get pointed at and made to feel like outcasts.

They don't know OTL!

I don't think that this is a site run by dog people, never mind, it's their loss!

We don't have any pictures to day 'cos OTL has been driving and TM has been snoring! Tomorrow we hope to have some for you 'cos we're going on two boats and that will be a first for both Holly and me!

So we are just about to go out with OTL for a walk in the forest and Holly reckons we should have a chat with the squirrels and get them to poo on the Reception Centre and throw nuts at anyone who doesn't like doggies!

We are off to bed now 'cos we have got to be up by six for an early start.

Bye bye for now, see you tomorrow.

Luv,

Daisy & Holly
