Moth Hunting!

Hello Woofers!

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy, Eric de Ferret and Monty de Ferret here!

Old Two Legs has been a right Porky Piggery today. Remember that cake? Well OTL reckons that Tracy makes the best fruit cake he has ever tasted, second only to the one he had last year which was also made by Tracy Hastings, who is also a Cat Woman, but we don't hold that against her!

Last night OTL got the moth trap thingy out last night and set it all up and just before he went to bed the heavens opened up and dumped a load of rain on the moth trap!

Luckily the electrics are sealed to IP65 or something like that and in the morning it was still working!

So, next OTL starts unloading egg boxes from the trap we find that there is just one insect in the boxes and that one has drown in the water!

As OTL starts to dry out the trap he disturbs some moths that have been hanging on the wall!

To start off we identify a White Ermine, looks good!

White Ermine
Now, this one is a bit of a weirdo, look carefully and you will see the antennae are very very long!

The male has antennae up to four times the wing length! Best of all he waggles them up and down to attract the females!

Nemophora Degeerella
Now, the next is a bit of a puzzle but we reckon it is a Mouse Moth, pass the cheese please!

Is it Cheddar?
Now this one suddenly started flying around but we don't reckon it came from the  moth trap but rather was on the look out for breakfast!

Now we are not 100% sure but it could be an Emerald Damselfly or a Scarce Emerald Damselfly!

Well, it might be, Emerald Damselfly or a Scarce Emerald Damselfly!
This one is better, it's a Ladybird, with spots!

Morning Lady!
On our walk we spotted this bloom, looks lovely!

Another Wild Rose!
Look wot we found! This is Monty getting a cuddle from The Missus over the weekend Crafty Thong!

He gets all the best cuddles!
Well done to Christina who correctly identified the deadly nightshade we found the other day.

Remind me to wee on it next time we see it!

Hey! Remember the Lupin we spotted? We' it seems we were totally wrong and they are Foxglove!

OK, so we are not right all the time but what is worse, someone has cut the flowers down!

That is just not on!

Lunchtime was fluffy clouds and a warm breeze!

Yep! Summers here!
OTL had a good laugh at a bee that was rolling around in a load of pollen! Now that's not fair 'cos we get told off!

Roley, Roley,Roley,Roley,Roley,Roley,Roley,Roley,Roley, Roll!
That's it for today, OTL is going to put out the moth trap again tonight and see what we get!

See you tomorrow!

Luv,

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy, Eric de Ferret and Monty de Ferret!

  1. Yo maties. Well we send our condolences to the poor moth wot drowned in the rain in the trap. Seems there's a large variety of moths down your way, thank goodness we don't have so many here cos they frighten me. Mind, when my mum opens her purse, something always flies out. Lovely rose picture. I quite like the lady bird and the bee rolling in pollen and the Picture of Monty getting a cuddles was very nice as well. It's a shame someone has cut down the wild flowers again, I reckon who ever is on the council wot tells them to cut them down needs an earful. Well my mum got my official results back from the vets on Saturday, I DO NOT HAVE LODGERS!!!!!!!!!! I was very insulted and took it as a personal insult when one of the vets reckoned that the college might have been wrong and tested me for lodgers, wot a cheek. Mind I bet they felt silly when they had to phone and tell my mum that over £200 worth of tests showed that I didn't have lodgers boarding and that the college were right, that I was viciously savaged. My mum knew I didn't have lodgers cos she always treats me and checks me all the time which sometimes I get fed up with but she says it's important. Me and my mum have had a lazy day today cos we was up at the crack of dawn, do you know it's quite light by 4.30 these days, you don't need a torch to see where you're weeing in the garden by then. My mum made me some covers yesterday for some of my bedding and my cool mats, she bought an Egyptian cotton sheet, 200 thread count, I must admit it was very nice, she should really buy some for our bed cos I can tell you, the Egyptian cotton is very nice and cool when you lay on it. Mind my mum wasn't too pleased when my boy brought me a teeth cleaning chew up for a midnight snack on my new covers at midnight. Well I'd better go and tell my mum it's scoff time. Have a lovely evening all, hope you get some decent muggings. Love, licks, wags and sniffs from little Arch and the Nippers xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx p.s. well done on the amount raised for the ferret fund, well done Mrs TM and all your crafty thongers xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hope OTL doesn't have a grumbly tum after eating so much fruit cake!

  3. What a lovely informative story you told of your day Daisy, so interesting and what a shame someone cut down the flowers, I bet they are in a vase somewhere. How is the cake, can we have an up to date picture to see the fruit cake, that would be nice but only if OTL has enough battery power!
Well I must go and look at todays sotry before it is midnight xxxxxx
