Well now, we had a surprising stroke of good luck this morning when we went to inspect the Moth Trap.

OK, so there were more egg boxes than moths but we had two moths hiding in the moth trap!

There was one who was hiding under the egg box and it was called Treble Lines, I kid you not and

when you look at the moth you might wonder if the 'Moth Naming Department' were having a slow day!

Now, what shall we call it?

I know, it has three lines across it's back so let's call it a Triple Line Moth!

A Lepidopterist nightmare!

Getting back to the moths, the next one was hanging onto the side wall of the moth trap, flat against the wall and in fact to begin with we thought it was a mouldy patch!

With a bit of a tickle with an egg box it fell.

It took a bit of fiddly diddly to get it in the right position to photograph.

 A Willow Beauty?

Now, we have looked through the 'Guide to British Insects' and the nearest one we can find that looks like this is the Willow Beauty, a good name but as common as muck all over the country!

I found a web site that lists moths you would expect to be flying in Kent this time of the year and they confirm identification as Willow Beauty.

Sorted!

Out walking we didn't see any of the usual gang so it was a case of 'Walking Alone' today!

Maybe if I can get OTL out of bed early enough we may see them tomorrow.

Until then, bye for now, we are off to switch the Moth Trap light on!

Moth Trap Works.

Hello Woofers.

Daisy here.

Well, it's me again and the sun has been shining all day. 

It has been most pleasant walking through the forest, a real summers day.

I met up with some other woofers, I have seen them before but they were a little too bouncy for me and I kept close to OTL!

The Moth Trap was on all last night and when we went out to investigate what moths were trapped we found................. Nuffin!

So, we are going to leave it out again tonight and see what gets trapped. It is still a little early as the best time is July/August, that is when they are most active, but there is no reason why we won't catch a moth or two before then.

Lunchtime we were down looking for butterflies along the sea front.

We saw one white thing but it was going at such a speed that we couldn't identify it.

The tide was out and all I could do was to have a lay down in the mud!

Shouting at me won't do any good!

There was one Wormy May picking up shells and other stuff from the margins. He didn't find any worms 'cos he didn't have a garden fork.

You want to try further out mate!

It looks like we will be having good weather over the Bank Holiday weekend, let's hope it lasts until we go on holiday!

TM and OTL went to get stabbed but they had to make an appointment. OTL told them that when he tries to book an appointment the NHS web site tries to send them across the Thames into Southend on Sea!

Well, says the lady on the reception, you will have to come back on Saturday. OK, says OTL, what about now, there's no one waiting, just slip us in now?

Oh no, says the receptionist, you have got to have an appointment first!

OTL said something about 'Jobs Worth' and left to return on Saturday!
