Rain? Wot Rain?

Hi Woofers,

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy, Eric de Ferret and Monty de Ferret here again!

Wot a disappointment, I mean, we were supposed to have rain, floods, storms, lightning, thunder and all manner of wet.

What did we get?

Five minutes of rain, just enough to make the ground wet, then, nothing!

Talk about being cheated!

You know, even Holly was looking forward to a little roll of thunder!

OK, I know it has been a bit cooler today but we reckon that is because of the wind that has been blowing!

We had some fun this afternoon, Old Two Legs was looking at the pond and trying to work out which of the Lilly plants he will cull at the end of summer when he spotted a small movement on the side of the pond and guess what he saw?

It's one of Trevor's family!

He was complaining that he had been waiting ages for a cold beer and a side serving of Fly Pie!

The poolside service is so slow here!
Just across the pond and under an overhanging rock, his little brother was keeping out of the sun and keeping an eye open for grass snakes and Nargles!

I could do with just a bit more 'Damp' if you know what I mean!

The insect life wasn't up to much today due to the strong wind, so anything that flew was hanging onto the grass and staying put!

That was everything except spiders and creepy crawly bugs and grass hoppers.

It's a grasshopper, not a cricket!
Holly Chops did some investigating on the Internetty when she got home and reckons the cricket has long antennae and shorter legs in relation to their body length!

She then went on about crickets stridulate ("sing") by rubbing their wings together, while grasshoppers stridulate by rubbing their long hind legs against their wings.

Every time I try that OTL tells me to stop scratching my ear and then spends some time investigating the insides of my ear, just in case I have some bug or bits of grass in there!

So, after all that, it was a grasshopper!

OK, I'm of now 'cos I can hear dinner being served!

See you tomorrow!

Luv,

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy, Eric de Ferret and Monty de Ferret.

  1. Yo maties. Well it sounds like you had pretty much the same weather as us last night. Glad to see some of Trevor's relatives I bet there were a few more hiding and watching to see if they were going to be spotted. We've got loads of stuff blown into our garden, leaves, twigs and seeds. My mum reckons it's going to take ages to clean our garden up when the wind finally goes. I had a mooch up the shops first thing this morning and got my treats and a few cuddles. It's been cooler here today but we could still do with some rain cos the grass is all prickly now. You have to be very careful when you squat for a poo or you get pricked on the butt. We've had a lazy day cos my mum is at work early tomorrow morning so we had a little siesta lunchtime, it was very nice, I do like a siesta, very civilized. You know Holly is very clever, now if I don't know wot something is I call it a bug. There's noisy bugs and quiet bugs. Hope you enjoy your scoff. Have a lovely evening all. Love, licks, wags and sniffs from little Arch and the Nippers xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  2. We did had about half an hours rain last night, in fact Michael took his mac out with him when he went to look for the Blood Moon, didn't see the moon, plenty of clouds but he didn't need to use his mac. Nice to see Trevors family by your pond, is TM cooking up some Fly Pie for them and definately some hop, hop beer. Holly is very clever with the internetty things teaching us about grasshoppers and crickets but I think it would be difficult to see which bit rubbed on which bit in something so small. Know what you mean about your ear, one scratch and OTL is there in an instance trying to avoid more wallet busting bills. Poor Archie being small is a disadvantage being nearer the ground let's hope he gets a drop or two of rain to reduce the spikes. We went to the Maidstone River Gathering today, there was to be a Raft Race at noon but it seems that there were only two entrants and one withdrew, still we got to wave to the Maidstone Mayor as he floated past on a boat! Tomorrow supposed to be three or four drops of rain and I know Holly wasn't disappointed at the lack of thunder, you are telling porkies!!! xxxxxx
