A Quiet Day.

Hi Woofers!

Us again, Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss April and Freddy Boy!

First of all, many thanks for the kind words of support at our loss of Wilma. The Missus Face Book is full of kind thoughts and messages as is our blog page. We didn't know so many Two Legs followed our blog!

It is such a shame that Wilma had to leave us like that, especially as she had such a bright future with us.

We have all been a bit subdued today and OTL hasn't said much at all.

This morning we were late in getting up but as the sun had only just got over the horizon, everyone else in the house was still asleep! Still, it makes a change to get up late especially on a Sunday!

Now, we must apologise to our great mate Archie Babe, with everything that was going on we forgot to sing him 'Happy Birthday'! I mean, all of four years old now he is and still as daft as the day we met him!

So.......pause for deep breath................on the count of seven......One.....Nine..............Go!

Happy Birthday to Yooo!
Loads of Sniffs and a good Poo!
Happy Birthday Dear Archie Babe
Happy Birthday to YOOOOOOOOO!

Holly says she wishes she was four again 'cos she wouldn't be on a diet then and was able to mug Old Two Legs for Twiglets and Shortbread!

I did point out that it was food like that wot caused her to be on a diet in the first place!

When we got down the Sea Front, there was some splashes of rain, so we didn't hang about and even May was galloping along!

Miss April said that she had a wee before coming out and would stay in the bag thank you!

Yucky Start to the day!
Lunch time was better, the sun had come out and although there was a bit of a breeze it was still damp underfoot. Freddy said he was getting cold paws on the Sea Wall and could he try walking on that wobbly stuff over there?

Holly pointed out that was the Sea and it was wet, cold, nasty, and very dangerous!

Well, it looks soft and wobbly!
Freddy was either trying his best to blag a lift from OTL or trying to keep up with Holly and me. He said he was a bit nervous in case that woofer came back. Holly and I said we would keep an eye open and warn him and OTL if we saw anything.

Come on, I've already sniffed that one!
There was a terrible noise overhead which made Freddy very nervous but OTL said it was a 'Hairy Plane' and it was no danger to us, unless it fell out of the sky!

Freddy wasn't too sure and kept a eye on it until it went to hide in the clouds!

Do they fall out of the sky often?
As soon as it went he was chasing after us for protection against falling Hairy Planes!

Hang about, I can't keep up!
We all enjoyed a snooze this afternoon, including OTL who managed half an hour before Holly woke him up woofing at the birds in the back garden!

You know TM is already asking if OTL will get a mate for Freddy 'cos Freddy needs company and although OTL is cuddly, he can't squeeze into the 'Cuddle Cup' that Freddy sleeps in!

You need a little ferret for that!

See you tomorrow!

Luv,

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss April and Freddy.

Wilma has gone.

Hello Woofers,

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss April and Fred here.

Wot a sad night is was last night.

At seven last night OTL went to the vets to pick up Wilma and get some medicine to stop the pain. The vet said we had to keep her quiet and make sure she has plenty to drink. There was no obvious wounds, just bruises where the dogs teeth had grabbed her around her abdomen.

She was obviously in shock.

We took her home and OTL made up a cage for her with bedding, food and water and a poo try.

OTL gave her a drink using a syringe and tucked her up into her bedding.

Around nine last night OTL went to check on her and found her laying half in and half out of the poo tray. He picked her up and cradled her in his arm and offered her another slurp of water which she took, but not much.

OTL carried on cuddling her and she licked his arm, snuggled her head down and gently passed away.

OTL carried on cuddling her for a while until he was sure she had passed over.

We think that it was the shock that finally got her as we couldn't see any damage on the x-rays.

Wilma was a super ferret, full of fun, full of life. She took to the harness and lead and enjoyed her walks on the beach and the grass paths. She didn't walk, she bounded, and when she ran out of lead, she dashed back to encourage her brother Freddy to 'Get a Move On'.

After the walk along the sea front and a rampage around the house she would rattle the cage door until OTL opened it up and gave her a slurp of Ferretone and a bit of chicken strip.

She wasn't with us for more than seven weeks but in that time she enjoyed her life in our house and was settling down to being one of our family.

We buried her this morning in a flower pot in the garden and put her next to Miss Snowflake and Mr Brambles so they can keep her company and of course, we can always stop and tell them all what has been going on in the house and what sort of trouble we have been getting in to!

Every time OTL has passed Snowflake and Brambles he has always said hello and updated them on what is going on!

Now he will stay a bit longer to have a chat with Wilma.

Wilma.
Back tomorrow.

Luv,

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss April and Fred

Wilma gets a Visit to the Vets and we get Short Back and Sides, again!

Hi Woofers!

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss April, Fred & Wilma back again!

Well, this morning it was a bit chilly when we went out for our walk. The ferrets stayed inside the bag until they got down to the beach. May was off digging holes while April spent time trying to get back into the bag again!

Old Two Legs spent some time photographing the sun rise behind Sheerness and he picked the best to upload onto the BBC Weather Watchers thingy!

Sun Up.
Holly and I were off sniffing the sniffs and looking for anything new!

We met up with Barney II who was back on his lead again 'cos he had been a naughty woofer and had run off after a sniff!

Hey Girls! I'm in trouble, again, good innit?
Mind you, Barney II thinks it great fun getting into trouble 'cos he is such a fun loving woofer!

After our walk we didn't got straight home, instead it was off to The Parlour for a wash and a haircut.

I really don't know why we have to have all our fur cut off when it is still cold! I mean, we are quite happy with it's length and sniff as it is!

This time you are going in first!
It was a terrible experience, as normal, but we came out at two thirty sniffing like a Tarts Handbag!

Mind you, it's not as scary as Wilma got when she was out with OTL and Freddy for a walk. As they were finishing the walk, from out of nowhere came one of those Weimaraner woofers who grabbed Wilma across her back. She screamed and OTL lunged at the dog who then dropped Wilma but then went in for another grab.

It was lucky that Wilma was on her lead 'cos the dog backed away from OTL but when it felt the lead pull, it dropped Wilma who was then scooped up by OTL. Unfortunately Wilma didn't know who it was that scooped her up and sank her teeth into OTL's hand, twice.

Loads of blood!

OTL's blood, not Wilma's!

Back at the car OTL examined Wilma and confirmed that there were no puncture marks  and the only blood was OTL's!

Wilma was very quiet and just lay in OTL's arm. She didn't jump when OTL tried prodding and poking to see if there was any sore bits and she moved around a little on all four paws, so no immediate signs of damaged legs.

A phone call got us an appointment with the vet as soon as OTL could get there and off they all went.

The vet inspected Wilma and agreed that there were no holes in Wilma that shouldn't be there but did suggest we start off with some pain killers and an x-ray to determine if there was any damage inside, like ruptured diaphragm or internal puncture of any of the organs.

So OTL left her with the vet and after an hour or so picked us up and returned to the vet for Wilma's results.

OTL had a look at the x-ray and the vet explained what OTL was looking at! There were a couple of bruises from the dogs teeth but no visible internal injuries, all the organs were in the correct place, her tummy was full of food!

There were no bones broken and all in all she looked in good condition. The vet suggested that OTL leave Wilma with them so they can monitor her progress and OTL is to pick her up at seven tonight.

So, after all that, Wilma is OK, sore, bruised and in shock, but OK. She has got to have her own cage for a couple of days, just to stop Fred from bumping into her and to let her have a quiet sleep!

The only one with any permanent injury is OTL's wallet!

We headed for home and our chicken dinner but the first thing we needed was a drink and the second was a wee!

So, into the garden we went!

We also needed to roll in something smelly but OTL wouldn't allow that!

So ends another exciting day, OTL is preparing the cage and bedding for Wilma, Freddy Boy is sleeping on his own tonight and I've now got a tummy full of chicken and rice!

See you all tomorrow!

Luv,

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss April, Fred and a bruised Wilma.

Wet and Yucky!

Hi Woofers!

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss April, Fred & Wilma here!

Wot a terrible day! Old Two Legs was up early but that means I get the whole King Size Bed all to myself!

That also means we have to go out early for our morning walk!

Luckily for us it was raining, so OTL delayed our departure in time for a break in the weather so we didn't get too wet!

Mind you, he didn't take his camera out of the car and he even took his 'Weather Photo' from inside the car!

It's Raining!
Coupled with that, he forgot the ferret lead so the ferrets had to 'Borrow' our lead. That didn't please April at all and she was showing off big time! So May had to have the dog lead on her harness, that didn't please her either!

It wasn't long before she was back in the bag as well!

They both got out of the bag but only for a quick wee and a poo before climbing up OTL's leg to get back into the warm!

Holly and I had our rain coats on but we were glad when we got back into the car!

The morning was spent snoozing on the bed and as lunchtime arrived it started to rain again!

It was going to be one of those days!

OTL had to drop some stuff off to his accountant so we decided to go for a walk first, then off to drop the stuff off.

Wilma was busting to get out of her cage so we ended up going a bit earlier than normal!

OTL had looked at the rain radar and reckoned that he had spotted a 'Dryish Window', just how wrong can you be?

We got wet!

The ferrets weren't happy and neither was Holly, I was a bit put out as well!

So, back home to a rub down with the towel and creep off into our sleeping cushions for a snooze before dinner.

Holly reckons it is Doggy Scoff again, she is such a cheerful puppy sometimes!

You know, OTL has been giving the ferrets some of our Teeth Cleaning Chews and you know what? Freddy Boy eats a whole Half a Chew all on his own!

We reckon he has been taking lessons from Nipper!

See you tomorrow when we are expecting better weather!

Luv,

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss April, Fred & Wilma.

No Wind Today!

Hi Woofers!

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss April, Fred & Wilma here!

It was funny this morning 'cos when we went out all the steam coming from the chimneys was going straight up into the sky. No wind, so all the sniffs were 'Local'!

Both ferrets were sniffing around the beach looking for Nargles and in the end decided that Holly was telling porkies about Nargles being under the sand, so the pair of them spent some time digging holes in the sand and calling out for the Nargles to 'Come on Out'!

No Nargles here!
Old Two Legs was getting lost looking at the clouds and taking photo's of the tide coming in!

In coming tide!
We met up with Poppy out for her walk and heard that little Beau has got a dose of Kennel Cough!

We were kept well away 'cos we don't know if Poppy has caught any germs! OTL says it is not something we want to get and even he stood a bit further away and was cuddling the ferrets!

We hope Beau gets better soon and the horrid germs go away!

We had to take the Worming Tablets this morning. Now, normally both Holly and I keep spitting the nasty things out of our mouth but this time OTL got all sneaky.

First of all he wouldn't let us eat our chicken first. He offered me a lick of the Ferretone bottle, which I just love. Then he puts the tablet in the flip cap and soaks the tablet with Ferretone oil. In I go and after a few slurps both Ferretone and Worming Tablet had gone!

Holly was offered some Ferretone but turned her nose up, Yuk! Oh dear! How was OTL going to get this down her?

Sneaky OTL got a Chicken Strip out of the packet and broke it up into small pieces, then put the Worming Tablet in amongst the bits and gentle rubbed the Chicken Strip all over the tablet!

Do you see where he was going?

Well, it worked! Holly, being unfed today started on the chicken and mistook the tablet for a hard bit of chicken and woofed it down!

Sneaky OTL!

Down on the beach Fred was hunting for Nargles but found nothing he could claim to be a Nargle, Dog Poo but no Nargles!

Nothing but Sniff of Woofer here!
Even under the sea weed all he found was little crawly things that are normally found under the sea weed!

Do these taste OK?
In the end Freddy decided that he wouldn't try nibbling a Crawly Thing and instead he would leave them to the birds!

Then, for a bit of fun, he decided to do some digging, just in case there was any sign of a Nargle!

Wilma said that she was not going to do any digging but would rather sit in OTL's arms waiting for Freddy to finish!

I could build a Nargle Trap here!
Freddy had been digging for a while before OTL suggested we carry on walking. As Freddy had warmed up, he managed to walk and waddle almost all the way back to the car! He was doing well today but after getting home he crashed out in his bed and hasn't woken since!

Holly says he will sleep well tonight!

OTL has got curry tonight, so that has put paid to us mugging but Holly is sort of getting into this slimming lark. You see, she was weighed and found to be 10.8 kilos which the vet said it was 'Too Much' for a woofer her size and Holly should loose two kilos!

Yesterday when we got weighed, Holly was 9.8 kilos! A whole kilo she has lost!

All that is down to 'No Nibbles' 'No Mugging' and 'Carrot Treats'!

So, now Holly can jump into the back of the car instead of waiting for OTL to lift her up!

I can see her getting a bit faster when we have a game of 'Chase'!

Maybe I should loose a couple of grammes myself!

See you tomorrow!

Luv,

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss April, Fred & Wilma.

A Grey Day and a bit of sun for a change!

Hello Woofers!

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss April, Fred & Wilma here!

Wot a grey ole day it's been today! We were up good and early this morning and down the beach before the sun had got up!

The ferrets enjoyed messing about with a hole they found, Holly said it was full of Nargles but the ferrets didn't know what Nargles were and didn't dive into the hole as normal!

Naughty Holly!

What's a Nargle?
Miss May went off to wash her paws but just as she was starting a big Rogue Wave came crashing onto the beach!

I'm getting outta here!
 That made her move!

Holly and I were sitting a bit further up the beach watching the fun and games!

I just don't believe it!
On the way back we spotted a couple of Little Egrets standing by the side of the road, I think they were waiting to cross the road!

Lunchtime came and Fred and Wilma were awake, so Old Two Legs got them dressed up in their harnesses and we were off back to the beach again.

On the way OTL took his 'Weather Photo' and again, you can't really do a lot with clouds and a little blue sky!

Can't make up it's mind!
Not that Weather Photos were interesting to the ferrets, they were more interested in sniffing out the drain holes in the Sea Wall!

Anyone here?
Just for a change, OTL let Freddy and Wilma have a walk along the beach. That helped them trim their claws. By walking on the concrete or the stones on the beach their claws are kept to a 'Natural Length' which is easier than letting OTL loose with the nail clippers!

Anyone got a nail file?
Down on the beach Wilma was following Holly around trying to find some new sniffs but Holly said she wasn't comfortable with a ferret so close to her tail!

Can you back off a bit?
Wilma was having fun spotting the sniffs Holly had missed! Mind you I think Holly had left a couple just for Wilma to find!

Back home to a bowl of Doggy Scoff that sniffs terrible! I hope that OTL gets something I can mug or I may starve!

Now I'm off to see what else is going on down stairs cos Holly is making a noise that means that there is food on offer!

See you tomorrow!

Luv,

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss April, Fred & Wilma.

Hi Woofers!

Hello Woofers!

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss April, Fred & Wilma here.

Today we have not lost any ferrets and Freddy Boy manages to get out of walking the Sea Wall!

We were out a little late 'cos Old Two Legs got up late but that didn't stop him from stopping to take his 'Weather' picture!

A Sunny Day?
You can tell we were out late 'cos the sun was up and the red sunrise had gone!

Mind you, the ferrets were still saying that the sand was just too cold for their paws!

It's still Too Cold on the Sand!
They perked up a bit when they got to the Grass Path and jogged all the way to the car park!

Back home it was OTL's 'First Day Back' and there was a load of paperwork to be done. We left him alone and had a snooze on the bed after a Chicken Lunch!

OTL had to go out to one of his customers so when both Fred and Wilma refused to wake up for their midday walk OTL decided to leave them tucked up and just take Holly and me down the sea front.

With all this rain, most of the sniffs had been washed away so it was only the 'New' sniffs were available!

Not a Sniff to be Sniffed!
We went out with OTL this afternoon and he had to visit a place almost next to the Doggy Shop. Holly and I went potty thinking we would be going in there!

There were two very disappointed woofers in the car as we swept past the front door!

OTL went off and Holly and I sat in the car woofing at everyone who came close to the car. When OTL came back he had in his hand a pack of chicken fillets!

Holly and I mugged him for a couple of strips and settled down to chew them as we headed for home!

Back home we went up to tell the ferrets what they had missed but they were still fast asleep!

With a bit of luck we should see a sunny day tomorrow, so, more sniffs?

See you tomorrow!

Luv,

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss April, Fred & Wilma.

Scary or Wot?

Hi Woofers!

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss April, Fred & Wilma here!

Did we have a scare this morning!

There we were, as normal, walking along the top path, both ferrets ferreting about in the grass, Holly wandering off ahead of everyone, I'm following up behind, sniffing the sniffs and Old Two Legs is taking pictures of the clouds!

Suddenly April is going a bit frantic trying to scramble up OTL's leg. She has managed to wrap her lead around both of his legs, so he can't really move. He looked to where May should be and saw an empty lead!

A quick look up the path showed May, gently jogging along the path, as normal!

I've never seen OTL disentangle April from his legs and run so fast after May!

When he caught up with her she paused, wondering what all the fuss is about!

We all breath a little easier and OTL is to find some sort of grease to put on the moving bits on the catch. We reckon she must have snagged it on some of the bracken and it came off!

It's a good job she knows the path back to the car.

Phew!

Well, as if that wasn't enough. There we were driving into the village when OTL spots a car parked in an unusual place and two TL's standing by the car. One of the TL's had a Hawk on his gloved hand!

That was it, OTL pulled over and walked back to them!

They were a couple of Hawkers out for a mornings hunt for rabbits! The hawk was a Harris Hawk, from the U.S.A. and she is three years old. Her winter plumage didn't do anything for her but her eyes were bright and she was very alert!

They had got permission from the farmer to hunt over his land so OTL left them to it and we headed for home.

OTL stuck another picture on Weatherwatch, not very exciting but just how much can you do with a grey sky?

Calm before the Rain!
It was around eleven thirty that OTL said we should chance a walk before the rain arrived.

Of course, by the time we got down to the car park, it was raining!

Holly and I had to put our rain coats on and be clipped onto out lead. You see OTL knows that if we have to put our coats on then it will be wet and Holly doesn't do wet, so we hang back and OTL has to come back and push us down the path!

Sneaky OTL clipped the lead on before we were allowed out of the car and when we 'paused' to evaluate the intensity of the rain, OTL dragged us off down the path to have a walk, wither we liked it or not!

After a while we were let off out leads but as it was half way around the walk it didn't really matter 'cos we were going back anyway!

Fred and Wilma were not too impressed with the rain and of course Freddy Boy did all his tricks to get back into the bag!

Wilma is always game for a walk and although she said it would be warmer in the bag, she didn't mind the rain for a little while.

Freddy gave up in the end and jogged down the hill back to the car. OTL gave him a rub down with our towel first 'cos his tummy had been dragging in the wet grass and all him bits were cold and wet!

Next Wilma got a rub down and said that the towel tickled her tummy!

Back home to some Doggy Scoff which I will admit, I finished off in no time at all, I was a bit peckish!

Holly gave it a sniff and said she would 'Get back to it' unless she found something else that tasted of real food!

Because of the rain OTL kept his camera in his pocket, so no more pictures today, sorry.

Claws crossed that it will be better tomorrow!

Bye for now.

Luv,

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss April, Fred & Wilma.

Famous? OTL?

Hi Woofers!

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss April, Fred & Wilma back again!

We were glad to read that Nipper and Archie Babe patrol the garden together and it's good to know that Archie has someone to look after him when it's dark!

Hairyplanes flying over your house? We reckon that Izzy and Hamish are very brave putting up with that! When ever we have been flown over by those jet things, Old Two Legs is normally driving and thinks that some big vehicle is skidding down the road towards him and he goes into panic mode looking for the offending monster!

When he realises that it is a jet, he mumbles all manner of curses upon its 'After Burners'! You see, down here we are just not used to such things!

After yesterdays pictures of the sunrise OTL was showing off a bit about how good they were and decided that we could share his pictures with another audience.

What he has done is to join the Weather Watchers on the BBC. What you do is to log in and tell them what the weather is like where you are and you can upload a picture to prove it!

OTL has logged in as Ferret Man 'cos he said that they might not like it if he called himself a Woofer Man! Dunno why, it is OK by us!

So, the picture for today is:-

Cloudy, Damp and Windy.
OK, so it;s not so dramatic as yesterdays pictures but you can't have a sunrise lighting up the sky every morning!

OTL has had his photo on the TV before when the sea froze. He showed The Missus and she sent it off to the local TV people who used it on their weather forecast, only they said it was sent in by TM, not OTL, so she got the glory and OTL got the hump!

So, if you ever see a weather picture on the BBC Weather Program from 'Ferret Man', you know where it came from!

We met up with The Lads who agreed it was Cold, Wet and Windy!

Morning Lads!
May and April enjoyed a run along the Grass Path but OTL did have to pick April up for a little carry!

Not that worried May 'cos she was running almost all of the way back!

Unlike Freddy who spent a long time trying to convince OTL that he had a broken leg!

If I walk on it any more it will fall off! Honest!
He got picked up and carried for a little while OTL inspected Freddy.

That was it, Freddy was 'Sussed' again and he ended up having to walk almost all of the way to the car!

Now, because of the 'Slow Progress' Freddy was making, Holly Dog got a bit fed up with waiting and headed off towards the 'Bench on the Hill' to wait for OTL to catch up.

Along came another woofer and his Two Legs, 'Hello' he says, 'are you lost?'

With that, Holly was clipped onto the lead and marched back down the path to where OTL was slowly walking along with Fred & Wilma.

Holly was not happy and was mumbling all sorts of comments about being left alone to sit watching the world go by without being kidnapped!

OTL said it was good that we had people who were kind enough to worry that Holly was all on her own!

Holly didn't think it was fair that she had to walk all the way back up the hill again and she reckoned that the TL should have carried her back to where she was 'Kidnapped'!

No Chance!

We are off to finish off our Lambs Heart now, so, bye bye for now!

Luv,

Daisy, Holly, (I'm not lost!) Miss May, Miss April, Fred & Wilma.

Happy New Year!

Yo Woofers!

A Very Happy New Year to you all from Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss April, Fred & Wilma!

Last night there was some early evening Whizz Bangs and Holly got a bit shaky but after we went to bed, she cuddled up to Old Two Legs and soon fell asleep. What she didn't hear was the 'Official' Whizz Bangs that went off at midnight! I did but I soon fell asleep again!

This morning we were out a bit earlier 'cos OTL got a good sleep last night and we were very glad he did 'cos we saw a spectacular sun rise today, the first day of the New Year!

Isle of Grain from Allhallows, complete with ground mist.
Then, as we got nearer he stopped the car again and took this one.

Looking towards the Power Station
It was a bit chilly 'cos OTL had to scrape ice off the windscreen first thing and the electronic thermometer in the car said it was minus two degrees!

Down on the beach both ferrets said it was just too cold and they even convinced OTL to carry them up to the grass path!

Holly was playing the Tart again 'cos she met up with Bert on the Sea Wall. Bert is not allowed off the lead so Holly tarts about teasing him something rotten!

Holly playing the New Year Tart!
On the grass path both ferrets were interested in the frost on the plants and the grass, then Miss April said that it was 'All very interesting but it makes your paws cold!' She managed to blag a ride on OTL's arm for a while but had to walk back to the car from the Bench on the Hill.

OK, now my paws are cold!
Back home to some chicken and a snooze before we wake Fred & Wilma up for their run on the beach!

The wind was getting up and indeed it was beginning to feel too cold for walking, well, that's what Freddy said but OTL still insisted he climb all the way up the grass path to the top!

Poor Freddy, he kept on asking for his 'Climbing Gear' to help him get to the top!

Climbing Gear Please, you know, ropes, ice axe and crampons!
OTL let him climb all the way up then gave him a carry until we got to the Bench on the Hill where Freddy could waddle down the hill to the car park.

That was going well until a couple of Two Legs stopped OTL and wanted to talk about ferrets, starting off with 'Will they bite me'!

You would have thought that by now that they would have got the message!

Ferrets only bite when they are eating, the rest of the time it is signal nips!

Like:-

Don't do that, I don't like it, nip!

You made me jump, nip!

That hurt, nip!

This is fun, playful nip!

Come on play with me, playful nip'

Come on Woofer, get out of my way, nip!

It's all good fun really and let's face it, you don't have ferrets and expect never to get a nip!

It's an occasional nip that lets you know they care for you!

See you tomorrow!

Luv,

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss April, Fred & Wilma.
