Monty tries to get his paws under the table!

Hi Woofers!

Here we are again, Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy, Eric de Ferret and Monty!

Now ferret introductions are never easy, normally there will be fear, screaming, chasing and generally a good punch up!

Mind you, when Brambles was introduced to Snowflake it was love at first sniff!

Yesterday when we put Wendy in a cage with Monty it was a screaming punch up and Monty ended hiding in the sleeping corner shaking with fear!

Getting Monty and Wendy back last night, Wendy went back into her cage and Old Two Legs got the 'Holiday Cage' out of the shed for Monty.

It's called the Holiday Cage 'cos it's the only one that can go through the caravan door with ferret, food bowl and water bowl, without spilling anything!

Well, last night Monty made a right pig of himself and tucked into the Ferret Kibble Biscuits and over night did enough poo to block the Channel Tunnel!

This morning, after we got back from the walk, OTL cleaned out Eric and Mays cage then got out the flexible plastic cage we use in the awning of the caravan.

In goes Monty and as an experiment, in goes Eric. There was sniffing, butt sniffing, communal slurping of Ferretone then a screaming punch up!

That didn't work very well!

Next it was Miss May's to go in and contrary to expectations, there was sniffing, butt sniffing, communal slurping of Ferretone then a screaming punch up!

So, out came May!

Next it was Wendy's turn and in she went but this time there was a little butt sniffing, communal slurping of Ferretone then butt sniffing, more communal slurping of Ferretone then a little scream but no punch up!

Things were looking good!

There followed a good half an hour of sniffing, pooing and weeing then Wendy came out for her rampage around the house. OTL had decided to give them a break to help quieten them both down and give Wendy time to get some Brambles Biscuits, have a chew then find a spot under the sofa for a five minute snooze!

Monty was allowed out as well but confined to the office. He had great fun exploring everywhere and he also checked out the cage where Wendy slept! Having got that done he went back to exploring the office!

After OTL had cleaned the travelling cage he spotted Monty doing a 'Weaslel Dance on top of my day bed!

A happy ferret is a Good Sign!

Monty found the ferret harnesses and wanted to know when he would get his!

When do I get my own harness and name tag?
OTL said he had to be a good ferret and behave himself and maybe, after he has had his distemper jab, he may just get the harness and name tag but that will not be until after the holiday!

OTL left all the Wendy Poo in the cage but added the mountain of poo from Monty to the little pile he made last night. He expects that will help Wendy get used to the sniff of Monty and also show Monty where he is expected to poo in future!

After an hour both ferrets had that 'Snoozy Look' about them and after a while Wendy dived under the blanket while Monty headed down to the hammock on the ground floor!

Both ferrets then felt safe and drifted of to ferret dreamland!

Monty woke up around four this afternoon and had a rummage around the cage while Wendy was fast asleep, well, she was right until Monty stuck his nose under the blanket and woke Wendy up!

She gave a squeak and he shot backwards in case he got his nose bitten!

We decided to leave them to get used to each other and claws crossed in a week or two we may find them cuddled up together!

See you tomorrow!

Luv,

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy, Eric de Ferret and Monty.

Wot a day for Monty!

Hello Woofers!

It's Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy, Eric de Ferret and.............................Monty!

Yep, you read right, Monty!

Today we had arranged to go down to the Harrietsham Ferret Rescue to present them with the wonderful donation from the Allhallows Croppers.

Old Two Legs made the appointment and was asked if he was looking for a new mate for Wendy?

OTL said he would leave it a while and see how she settled down without Freddy.

Well, Miss Wendy has been a bit 'Clingy' and has gone off her food as well. She was eating but not enough for a good poo!

That's how OTL tells if the ferrets are OK by the size, colour and sniff of the poo when he is cleaning the cages.

So. this morning we all had a meeting and while Wendy said she was OK as it was and to let her sort herself out.

Holly and I discussed it when we went for our morning stroll and decided that we should try to get her to at least have a look!

Well, you have always got to have someone to cuddle up to and we got OTL!
OTL was deep in thought and kept himself to himself as we walked along the Sea Wall.

He spotted a butterfly he hadn't seen before and reckons it could be a 'Transparent Burnet' only they are only seen up in the North West Highlands and in Northern Ireland!

Mind you, it could be an oddity in it's colouring!

A Lost 'Transparent Burnet'?
He also spotted a Goats Beard which pleased him 'cos he thought they had cut down all the plant life down so low he didn't think anything would grow this year!

Nice to see you!
After lunch we all set off to Harrietsham, that is The Missus, OTL, Holly and I plus Wendy Chops!

Roy and Chris were tickled pink with the donation which will go to providing veterinary care for the ferrets. They were saying that last year the vet cost them £1800.00!

We were introduced to a little Polecat Ferret called Monty.

Now Monty has been bullied by the other ferrets in the cage and he has been thrown out of the bedroom and forced to sleep on his own!

We tried an introductory meeting between him and Wendy.

Wendy went for him with a squeal and charge! Monty, not having much self confidence after being bullied retreated at speed and hid in the back of the cage!

She just wouldn't leave him alone and chased him all over the place!

We then tried Wendy with a big strong albino who looked like he wouldn't take any nonsense from anyone.

That was until he met up with Wendy!

She chased him all over the cage and he retreated into the back of the bedroom at high speed!

It was looking like Wendy was heading for a single existence in that big cage at home.

OTL was troubled by this and remembered back when Freddy met Wendy for the first time, she did the same thing and Freddy just turned his back and went off to sleep!

Getting no response from Freddy, Miss Wendy took herself off and slept on her own for a couple of weeks before OTL found them in the same cuddle cup, cuddled up together!

So, we are going to spend some time putting them together in a 'Controlled Environment' which means a neutral cage and with OTL on hand to act as referee!

With any luck Monty will get a bit braver and Wendy will get fed up with attacking Monty!

Well, that's the plan anyway!

So, here is Monty, getting used to OTL's attention with cap full of Ferretone and tickles around the back of his neck!

We will start the introductions tomorrow and claws crossed, it won't be long before the hostilities cease and we find them cuddled up together!

Your called OTL?

Who is that over there rattling the cage door?
Monty had seen Eric rattling the cage and was introduced to Eric who was most interested in the new ferret in the house!

OK, if you don't mind I'm off for a drink and a bite to eat!
OTL started the introductions like this. He picked up the paper kitchen towel that Monty had wee'd and poo'd on and put it in Wendy's cage, just to remind her that he was still around!

See you all tomorrow!

Luv,

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy, Eric de Ferret and Monty!

Seriously Lazy Sunday!

Hello Woofers!

Here we are again, Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy and Eric de Ferret.

Wot an absolutely wonderfully lazy day we have had! We were up early 'cos The Missus was banging and crashing about downstairs piling up all her boxes of glue and glitter and paint pots and craft stuff!

Yes, she is off to a Master Class at the village hall all day!

That means we can get on with enjoying the day in the company of Old Two Legs.

Now, OTL isn't such a worry guts like wot TM is, I mean, he doesn't go potty when we have a chew of a doggy biscuit and leave crumbs all over the bed. Nor does he get all huffy if one of the ferrets does a poo on the sheet of kitchen paper towel that has been put in the corner,, just where the ferrets love to have a poo!

I mean, if you know a ferret will poo in a particular spot and you put paper down and the ferret poos there I say it was a success!

Today, they had great fun diving in and out of the cardboard tubes OTL had left on the lounge floor together with a big box that TM had left over when a new kitchen dustbin had been delivered!

Little Eric, always the trouble ferret, just loves to get inside a waste bin, especially the swing top bins. OTL has one in his office and Eric can now run down the plastic tube and launch himself into the air so he lands on top of the bin and, whoosh! It's as if the bin had just eaten him as the lid swings open and in goes Eric, tail and all!

Of course, OTL hears the tell tale crash of the lid and has to dig Eric out!

I mean, it's not as if there is anything to eat or pinch in there, just paper, bits of metal and some old trousers OTL has thrown away, oh, and also an empty printer cartridge case and box it came in!

When the ferrets have their rampage around the house they just love gathering up all the squeaky rubber balls and hide them in TM's card room. Well, it's not really a card making room, rather a storage room where all her stuff is kept on shelves and in plastic boxes.

There are plenty of places where a ferret can hide rubber balls and also tuck themselves into a little space for a snooze between rampages!

Little Wendy just loves falling asleep in the plastic box that holds TM's pinafores, she reckons they make a super bed!

Of course, there are plenty if hidy holes inside the sofa and chairs plus they can always hide under the furniture where they store the 'Brambles Biscuits' which are really meant for dogs instead of ferrets!

Try telling a ferret he can't have something!

You know, we have caught Eric trying to run off with out hair brush and yesterday Miss May was trying to run off with the syringe that holds the ProKolin for Holly's Grumbly Tum!

Mind you, if she got to eat that she wouldn't poo for a week and that would make her eyes water!

OTL thinks it fun when Holly and I go potty 'cos we have seen a cat in the garden and will let us out to chase it away, unlike TM who just shouts at us to 'Keep Quiet'!

As if!

Now, on top of all that fun it has been a warm sunny day which means we can roll in all the sniffs along the Sea Wall without having them stick onto our backs and OTL doesn't have to wash it all off when we get home!

Of course, it is always great fun when TM comes home again 'cos Holly and I do our 'Potty Puppy' bit and bounce all over the furniture and TM and up and down the stairs woofing our tails off!

Oh, I almost forgot, there is also the snoozing in between!

Yes, a good day!

See you tomorrow!

Luv,

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy and Eric de Ferret.

OTL is getting close to paying for the hair clipping equipment!

His Woofers!

It's Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy and Eric de Ferret here!

You know, it has been quite muggy today, it was like that first thing this morning even though the clouds were overhead. As the day progressed the sun came out and the temperature went up as well!

We have spotted a good crop of Taddly Poles wiggling their tails all over the pond and The Missus has spotted a load of dragonfly nymph as well. I must admit, they look rather ugly!

We have loads of snails and water boatmen plus a lot of stuff we can't identify!

Last year we had a plant take root and as it grew, all the other plants in the pond got swamped out and look like they were not going to make it over winter!

Old Two Legs wasn't sure what it was but decided to do something about it. earlier this year he dug up all of the root he could find and chopped the tops of the plant where he couldn't get to the root. Of course, doing that only encouraged the plant to grow and we had new shoots poking up all over the place. So, he purchased a strong weed killer called Glyphosate Commercial Strength Weed Killer. Now this stuff is diluted the sprayed onto the leaves of the weed you are trying to get rid of.

OTL couldn't do that 'cos there were loads of other plants close, so, he purchased a bottle of this stuff  and a pack of syringes with 'Unsharp' needles. The plan is to inject the weed killer directly into the stem of the shoot and then add a squirt onto the leaves.

Well, after a week it looks like it is having effect, the weed is wilting and the leaves are turning black!

Claws crossed we have beaten the weed this year!

Today we noticed a note in OTL's diary, 'Hair Cut and Advantix' That means that our holiday is getting close and we need our second squirt of Anti Tick stuff on our shoulders! The haircut is so that we  look super good as well when we go!

Now, when OTL decided to buy the gear so that he could cut out hair himself, he said that it wouldn't be too long before it paid for it's self considering just how much the Poodle Parlour was charging and also they were increasing the price every time we went there!

Today as he was shaving us to within a millimetre of our skin we reckoned he was actually making a profit now!

One good thing is that Holly and I will get to help OTL get a haircut and trim his beard the day before we go!

That will be fun!

We must say a big thanks to all of you who left kind messages on TM's Face Ache Page and the kind words and prayers left in the comments of our Blog. It means a lot to us that so many of you read the blog, even if you don't always make a comment.

We have been making a fuss of little Wendy and she has been out walking with us and OTL at lunchtime. OTL has been saying that because she has Freddy as a mate and they cuddled up to each other every night she should think about a trip to Harrietsham to see if there are any cuddly ferrets in need of a good home!

Wendy said she would think about it and let us know.

We are going to visit Harrietsham on Monday to drop off the donation from the Allhallows Croppers and will discuss it with Roy and Chris who run the rescue.

This morning we spotted OTL tidying up the garden close to the Grecian Urn where all the ferrets are buried and we were sure he was talking to them! Mind you, I always say hello as I pass on my way to have a wee first thing in the morning!

See you all tomorrow.

Luv,

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy and Eric de Ferret.

Freddy de Ferret has gone to sleep.

Hello Woofers!

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy and Eric de Ferret here.

Such a sad day today, Freddy de Ferret has been slowing down over the last month  or so and yesterday he couldn't be bothered to get out of bed. We gave him lots of cuddles and made sure he was tucked up in his favourite cuddle cup bed.

Last night he went to sleep after Old Two Legs had said a 'Good Night' to him and all the ferrets.

This morning we found that he had slipped away.

We are all sad to see him go but at the age of six or seven he had enjoyed a long life.

He came to us with his sister back in 2015 and soon settled into enjoying himself.

Always one for a joke, Freddy would pretend that he was going to spend the day sun bathing on the beach!

Pass the Factor 35 please!
Freddy was a big lad who was never into rampaging too much, rather he would enjoy a slow stroll next to OTL as we walked along the Sea Wall and up the grass path.

Hang on, not so fast!
One of his favourite tricks was to pretend he had stubbed his claw and couldn't walk any further and the only cure was a carry from OTL!

Quick nurse, the curtains, it's just too horrible to look at!
Not know for his speed, Freddy made up for it in being a gentle ferret who would always have a cuddle with anyone who wanted to make a fuss of him.

Many a young child or sceptic mother would meet Freddy on his walk and be introduced to just how soft and gentle ferrets are!

Freddy is now buried in the flower pot cuddled up to his sister and the other ferrets who have passed on.

We are all going to miss Freddy but as OTL says, 'If we get lonely, we can always go down the garden and talk to him and the others!

Luv,

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy and Eric de Ferret.

A Day of Yuk!

Hi Woofers!

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy, Freddy and Eric de Ferret here again!

I don't know what it is like where you are but down here in Sunny North Kent......it's Yuk!

I mean, no sun, serious misty fog and very wet grass!

Eric was OK with the wet grass, he was enjoying a good 'ferret' in the clover but Miss May had a little run, a wee and then decided that a wet tum was a very good reason to get back into Old Two Legs arms!

OTL was busy this morning doing some 'Manufacturing' so we all headed for our day beds for a well earned snooze, until lunch time!

Miss Wendy came out with us and had great fun in the clover, there is something about wet clover that they just love!

Holly on the other paw thinks that any hint of damp is something to be avoided!

Freddy is spending a lot of time snoozing nowadays, OTL says it is because he is getting old and in need of snoozing. Well, he is about seven years old and that is a good age for a ferret!

We have to make plans to go down to the Harrietsham Ferret Rescue next week to drop off the donation made by the ladies of the Allhallows Crafty Group, they did a magnificent job of raising a donation that will help with the vet bills and care of all the ferrets that find their way to Harrietsham!

The weather fores cast has just said that the South East will be getting some rather heavy rain and thunder and lightening!

We are off to find a safe place to hide in!

See you tomorrow!

Luv,

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy, Freddy and Eric de Ferret.

I manage another splosh!

Hello Woofers!

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy, Freddy and Eric de Ferret here!

Not such a sunny day today but as we are expecting some more rain later this week we will have to put up with the storms!

Eric and May came out with us this morning and Eric was having a right rampage through the grass. It was still wet from yesterdays rain and after a while Miss May decided she would rather be cuddled up in Old Two Legs arms until she got back to the football field when she was down on her paws and racing across the field!

Once we got home Eric was off searching for The Missuses 'Smoothies'!

He has something about those sponge things especially if they are covered in ink!

Lunchtime was fun, we left Wendy snoozing while Holly and I  went off for a sniff. Now, the tide was right in and I fancied a quick dip but OTL was just too close and he waved his finger at me and I got the message!

Well, how about a 'Little' paddle?
We wandered along the Sea Wall and sniffing at the sniffs. OTL got all interested in a snail wot was having a mid day snooze.

Holly said that the snail should be called Freddy on account he was snoozing at midday!

Doing a 'Freddy'!
I took advantage of OTL and the snail and ran ahead and down to the beach. As he disappeared over the horizon, in I went!

I had a splosh and managed to get my tummy all wet!

Holly, on the other paw did wot she always does and stayed off the beach!

The afternoon was spent snoozing while OTL got the paperwork ready for the accountant and he has informed us that we will be getting a wash and hair cut this weekend all ready for our holiday!

We don't mind the holiday bit, it's the wash and hair cut that we are not looking forward to!

Let's hope the rain misses us tomorrow!

We were tickled pink with Auntie Di's Happy Birthday song for Eric and she even got to mention the Poo!

Luv,

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy, Freddy and Eric de Ferret.

Happy Birthday Eric de Ferret!

Hi Woofers!

Us again, Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy, Freddy and the birthday boy, Eric de Ferret!

Yes, it's Eric's birthday today! He is all of two years old! Normally we call the day a ferret arrives here as their birthday but with Eric we can identify the very day he was born!

Today the sun has sort of gone away, I mean, like it has been raining ever since we got up this morning!

All through the morning it got heavier and heavier until it got so bad that both Holly and I had to creep into Old Two Legs office and hide under the desk!

So many lightening strikes and big bangs of thunder and on top of that the rain came down in bucket loads!

One good thing, the ferrets got their early morning walk along the sea front although Miss May had to be picked up for a cuddle on the way back. Not all the way, just a little way until she got all twitchy and wanted a run across the football field!

The pond is now almost up to over filling and there is a Bloom come out on the Lilly Pad!

Bloom Number One!
The Missus had to head off to the TL Vet to get stabbed against Dingles, or summat like that and it coincided with the rain coming down in bucket loads, just as Holly wanted to go out for a wee.

Holly decided to hang on for a bit! She is not the same as Archie Babe who doesn't mind a drop of rain while having a wee and a sniff all at the same time!

This afternoon Old Two Legs headed out to visit a customer who wanted to have some radios re programmed. It was one of those 'Panic Jobs' that crop up every so often!

Panic over Holly and I settled down to a snoozy cuddle under the desk!

Just for a laugh, we all got together and sang Eric our 'Happy Birthday' song, it went like this.........

Ready?

OK, One Nine Fifty Six!

Happy Birthday to Eric
Although he's small and quite Spheric
Happy Birthday to de Ferret
Happy Birthday to Poo!

It was rather difficult finding a word rhyming with Eric!

Lunchtime OTL found a 'Window' in the rain clouds and we managed to get a quick Wee and a Poo before he was off to work.

As it was Eric's birthday The Missus had left out her box of sponge balls called 'Smoothies' now, Eric just loves them and he thought it was one of his presents, so he kicked the box off the table, jumped down and ran off with several Smoothies and hid them in a cardboard tube he was given over the weekend!

It was after Eric had gone back to bed that TM found her stashed Smoothies and managed to hide them back in the box again!

We all reckoned that Eric will have them out again before long!

See you all tomorrow!

Luv,

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy, Freddy and the birthday boy, Eric de Ferret!

Loads of Tourists Today!

Hi Woofers!

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy, Freddy and Eric de Ferret here!

Happy Bank Holiday to everyone and just for a change we have had sun shine all day long!

Both Eric and May enjoyed a ferret first thing this morning

Bet he can't see us!
Being Springtime the flowers were out and looking all fresh, we wondered what he was doing taking a picture of this one!

Look, no bugs!
Holly and I had some fun chasing the rabbits this morning but as normal, we let them get away!

OK, can I go chasing the rabbits now?
Lunchtime it was too hot for Wendy to go out for a walk so we had Old Two Legs all to ourselves!

He spotted a 'Small Heath' butterfly and managed to get this shot before it flew off again!

OK, this is my Best Side!
There were loads of tourists all parked up in the car park so we had to go around to the football field car park!

I'll be glad when Tuesday comes and we get the beach to ourselves!
Mind you, I did manage to get in for a quick dip!

Come on Holly Chops it's wonderful in the water!
Unfortunately, Holly didn't share my love of water and slunk off to find some shade!

I don't do wet!
This afternoon we spent snoozing while OTL was 'Doing the Books' and getting ready for tomorrow!

Hey! We forgot to show you a picture yesterday.

Who's a Lucky Lady!

This is Pauline and her friend Maggie who both travelled down from Warwick.. Maggie won the Lavinia Stamps  Gift Set of  crafty products !

But they didn't get the 'Ferret Cake'!

OTL has been stuffing his face today and The Missus managed to get a nibble of the cake as well!

See you all tomorrow!

Luv,

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy, Freddy and Eric de Ferret.

We are in need of a rest!

Hi Woofers!

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy, Freddy and Eric de Ferret here!

Aha! I see it is a 'Welcome Back' to the McGoodes after their marathon trip around Scotland and now it back to cutting down all the weeds and cutting the grass that seems to have grown up with a gallop!

There is a rather aggressive plant that arrived last year in our garden, next to the pond, and it sort of killed off a number of plants. This year Old Two Legs was out there digging up all the root stock that looked like tubers. Now, as you know, they always come back and grow again! OTL managed to sprain the tendons in his hand and now has decided to try poison! So that it doesn't spread over other plants, he has gone out with a syringe and a bottle of plant poison and injected the stems and also squirted the weed killer over the leaves as well!

We can report that there are a few rather sick looking weeds!

We can also report that there are more stems sprouting up in new places, so, tomorrow OTL is out again with the syringe to attack the new growth!

Poor old Archie Babe, fancy not being allowed a little nibble of a morsel! That is no reason to have a muzzle shoved onto your nose! I mean, a lads just got to have a treat once in a while!

The Missus has been up the Village Hall all today finishing off the 'Crafty Thong Thingy' and we can see that she will be totally worn out for the next few days!

Hey! OTL has had a couple of rather large lumps of the 'Ferret Cake' and has pronounced it as being 'Brilliant'! Holly and I tried to get a nibble but OTL growled at us which we took to be a warning!

I can see that if ever Tracy makes another cake for the event OTL will be making a seriously large number of attempts to win again!

Well done Tracy!

Good news, tomorrow is Bank Holiday so no work for us but OTL will be out on his knees stabbing weedy plants, so, is that working or having fun in the sun shine?

See you all tomorrow!

Luv,

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy, Freddy and Eric de Ferret.
