Oak Apple Gall Wasps and Creepy Trees!

Hi Woofers!

Back again, Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy, Eric de Ferret and Monty de Ferret!

It has been rather warm and sunny today down here in North Kent. However, the morning sun rise was a little disappointing, hardly a glow, more of a dull smudge!

See what we mean?
Mind you, it was fun when Old Two Legs pointed out one of the trees who had his face on today!

Treebeard is an old cousin of mine!
Walking along the path through the forest OTL saw a tree with a funny growth on it. He said it was a caused by a Oak Apple Gall Wasp. The tree didn't have its leaves out yet so we couldn't say if it was an Oak Tree but after they are out we will check again!

Yep! That's the front door for the Gall Wasp!
Lunchtime was warm and today both May and Eric were awake, they said they would love a run out.

This field is full of sniffs!
The local Parish Council Members look after the sea front and keep the grass mown. OTL keeps telling them they should leave some weeds for the insects but they keep chopping the weeds back. So, it was pleasant to see some plants growing, before they chop it all down again!

Now that looks pretty!
Miss May spent most of the time on the ground but Eric asked if he could spend time in the Ferret Bag, that was until we turned for home and then he jumped down a scurried all the way back to the car!

You know this bag is so warm and comfortable!
Mind you, he did enjoy the run back to the car and all the sniffs along the way!

Hey! How's this for a pose!

It was good to read how helpful Archie Babe has been, helping to clear up all the mess his Two Legs has made with her new electric gissmo!

Dinner has just been called, It's Mugging Time!

See you tomorrow!

A Chilly Start to May!

Hello Woofers!

Us again, Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy, Eric de Ferret and Monty de Ferret!

Well, welcome to the month of May, named after Miss May or so she says!

Last night Old Two Legs set up the moth trap in the garden and switched on the light and we all sat back looking for moths. Bedtime came and there was no moths to be seen.

OTL left it all on all night long and first thing this morning we had a look and..........nuffin!

We reckon it is still too early for moths but when OTL was dismantling the bird feeder ready for washing, out popped a small moth and scurried away before OTL could catch it!

Later this morning he ordered up some plastic sample jars to keep the moths in, if ever he catches any!

All this moth thing has started him off looking for other crawly stuff to photograph.

First of all is a Hover Fly.

A Hover Fly, not hovering!
We couldn't find a Hover fly with such long, thick antennae so we will have to look on the Internetty Thingy and see if there are any pictures!

After it moved sideways for a moment!
A few yards further on he spotted this thing that looked just like a Mosquito who was looking for some blood!

We didn't hang about!

An early Mosquito called Dracula?
Next there was this thing and we are not sure if it is a Carder Bee or a Spring Flower Bee?

We are certainly rusty on this insect stuff!

Holly says she is going to take a reference book to bed tonight to brush up on insect spotting!

Maybe a Male Spring Flower Bee?
What ever they are called, they were all busy eating the nectar on the flowers and generally making a loud buzzing sound!

So, if it's sunny then we will be helping OTL spot all the insects that will be worthy of a picture!

The down side of all this is that the Hay fever has started to work on OTL's nose!

We always know when the summer starts,  OTL starts sneezing!

We are off to help him set up the moth trap again to see if get lucky tonight!

Bye for now.

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy, Eric Dee Ferret and Monty de Ferret!

Sunbeams, Bert and a Pesky Rabbit!

Hi Woofers!

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy, Eric de Ferret and Monty de Ferret here!

We managed to get in trouble today!

You know what it's like, there you are wandering along the path and on the wind comes a super sniff that yells out 'SNIFF ME!'

So, what's a woofer to do?

Off we go, Holly and I, and find a sniff that says 'Roll on Me!'

And we do!

It is then that Old Two Legs starts jumping up and down and getting all showy off!

Before we know what's happening, he has clipped our lead on our harness and there we are, unable to have any fun!

It didn't last long, just long enough to get past the sniffs!

Through the woods we noticed just how much the undergrowth has grown. OTL says that the undergrowth will die back as the tree grows more leaves!

Ever changing vista!
First thing this morning we got down the sea shore and stood for a while looking at the sun beams, pretty wot?

Looks pretty don't it?
Lunchtime we came across Bert who was enjoying the sniffs. Now Bert has a thing about Holly, he just loves her but Holly winds him up rotten!

I told you, no tongues!
Heading for home OTL saw a rabbit  sitting in the middle of the path trying to decide whether to run or stay still hoping not to be noticed!

I reckon I would have got it but OTL wouldn't let me go!
We spent the afternoon resting on our beds while OTL got all busy with some orders that have come in.

It's a hard life being a woofer in this house!

See you tomorrow!

Luv,

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy, Eric de Ferret and Monty de Ferret.

Here comes the Sun!

Hi Woofers!

Us again, Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy,Eric de Ferret and Monty de Ferret!

We love Mondays, everyone is off to work and we get the sea shore to ourselves!

Mind you it has to be sunny to make it better!

This morning it was a shade misty out to sea and the wind was letting us know it was still there!

Not another Ethereal photo!
It was OK 'cos when we got behind the hill the wind dropped right down and with a little bit of sun it was quite pleasant!

When I grow up I'm going to be a Vulture!
Lunchtime we met up with those SpannerPoo Brothers but today we ran towards them and they ran back to their Two Legs!

A right pair of wimps!
Down on the sea front the sun was out and the sniffs were warming nicely!

There's a better one over here!
Back home Holly and I crawled into bed while Old Two Legs went off to deliver stuff and take some rubbish down the tip!

You know he gets all the best jobs!

We're off to see what is for dinner and also what OTL has got on his plate!

See you tomorrow!

Luv,

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy,Eric de Ferret and Monty de Ferret!

Ethereals again!

Hi Woofers!

Us again, Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy, Eric de Ferret and Monty de Ferret!

It was good having an extra ten minutes in bed this morning, that's what I like about Sundays!

Mind you, we had to put up with The Missus snoring her tail off!

OTL was up at his normal time so we sort of rolled over and landed in his sleeping place on the bed and got the benefit of his body warmth that made the bed feel all snugly!

That wasn't to last and pretty soon we were off for our morning constitutional around the sea shore.

There was no deep red sun rise, more of a cloudy entrance with a few sun beams thorn in. Old Two Legs called it 'Ethereal', not sure I would agree with him but it's a case of keeping him happy, so, here is an 'Ethereal' sun rise!

A Touch of the 'Ethereals'!
Lunchtime was a little better and through the woods we came across a carpet of little Daisy type flowers covering the ground.

I said it looked pretty and Holly agreed, then she had a wee on them!

That girls got no soul!

Yeah! This looks like a good spot!
On our way back home we came across a couple of woofers that were half Spaniel and half Poodle. Holly said they were too rough to play with and called them 'SpannerPoo's'.

One was called Bertie and the other was Jack.

I didn't join in the chasing about but they both danced around OTL playing up to him!

Have you got a ball Mr?
Their Two Legs had a pocket full of nibbles to tempt them with, so every time they were called to 'Come Here', they got a reward!

Aw, Great Mum, Gissa Nibble!
OTL says that we don't need to bribe us with nibbles 'cos he has got us trained!

Mind you, a nibble now and again wouldn't hurt!

These two were brothers and I think it was Bertie wot got a bit too close to my tail and needed to be told off!

Any closer Mutt and you'll be limping home!
He backed off!

Ya don't mess about with me!

Back to work tomorrow!

Bye for now.

Brrrm! Brrrm!

Hello Woofers!

Here we are again, Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy, Eric de Ferret and Monty de Ferret!

Well, it's Saturday and that means F1 racing on the TV again!

Old Two Legs has to get up early and get all his jobs done before he can sit down and watch the racing, well, that's what The Missus says!

We tend to get our morning walk at a little bit over a 'Quick Walk' so that means the rabbits hear OTL crashing through the bushes and they have all run away by the time we get to where they had been!

I tell you, there must have been at least twenty rabbits here!
The view out to sea wasn't much improved, the winds were blowing from the West so that means the wind was blowing off the land, so no White Horses to be seen!

It looks a bit bleak!
We have heard that storm Hannah or Spanner as Holly likes to call it, was sweeping across from the West so we kept a watch out for rain clouds and storms coming in over the local Power Station Chimneys!

We had a good game of chase but to be honest, I really don't know what we were chasing. You see, Holly went woofing off and I followed, woofing my tail off, as you do, but when we stopped Holy says to me, 'What was that?' to which I replied, 'Dunno, you were the one who was running!'

Don't tell OTL, let's pretend it was a Nargle!
Mind you, he seemed more interested in taking pictures of the undergrowth. Mind you, I suppose you could get a Nargle or two hiding in there couldn't you?

Nargle rich hunting grounds!
We watched to racing, well Qualifying 1 & 2 but the race track around the houses was so narrow that the racing cars kept falling off the track!

Let's hope the racing improves tomorrow and they don't get troubled by Storm Spanner!

See you tomorrow.

Luv,

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy, Eric de Ferret and Monty de Ferret!

Cometh the Caravan Man!

Hi Woofers!

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy, Eric de Ferret and Monty de Ferret!

Well, some excitement today!

There we were, after our morning walk, woofing our tails off at this geezer who was ringing our door bell!

Actually I sort of remember him but I just couldn't remember from where!

Then it dawned on me, it was the Caravan Man!

He comes and gives our caravan a service before we go on holiday!

Holiday soon!

Before he turned up we went out on our morning walk and there was no rain, at all!

A good sign!

Mind you, there was some cloud to block the sun!
The forest is getting rich with sniffs and other stuff. Holly and I spend loads of time sniffing the path edges and also inside the forest edges!

'Ear there is some super sniffin material here!
Old Two Legs was forever calling us to follow him and get a move on!

Now, yesterday OTL pointed out to us some big flies that were feeding off the weeds in the forest and he called them St Marks Flies.

We didn't take too much interest 'cos let's face it, see one fly and you've seen them all!

Not so, says OTL, these are St Marks Flies!

Their common name comes from the fact that the adults usually emerge around St Mark's Day, 25 April!

A St Marks Fly that is getting stuck into the pollen!
The only problem with these flies is that they are not too clever at flying and keep bumping into us and landing on our backs!

OTL says that the St Marks Flies will often land on any objects in their way, including fence posts and people. It's a good job they hang around wooded areas 'cos if they are daft enough to try and land on a car wot is travelling at speed and we all know what happens then!

We left the Caravan Man to get on with the caravan and make sure it's all ready for the hols!

This evening we have the F1 to watch, so OTL has promised to have a small slurp of whisky just as it is practice!

Good news on Boys Muver-in-Law getting out of hospital, claws crossed for a full recovery!

We are off to try some new food, suposed to be better than Scoff but not quite Fillet Steak, if you know what I mean!

See you tomorrow!

A Woofer Day

Hi Woofers!

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy, Eric de Ferret and Monty de Ferret are here again!

Well, it's been a day of woofers! You see, we were out this morning a little later than normal 'cos Old Two Legs over slept!

Mind you, we didn't mind, I mean, a nice warm comfortable bed and a soft pile of blankets is just the thing for a couple of snoozy woofers!

We were expecting some rain today and on our way down to the sea shore the windscreen did get wet but by the time we got there, it had stopped!

Out we got and of course we were looking for Bunny Wabbits!

No Wabbits here, just a soppy Pigeon!
A walk through the woods didn't produce anything to chase, just the odd Blackbird chasing worms!

The sun was well up and burning a hole into the clouds. I reckon  if OTL had got down about half an hour earlier he could have got a good sun rise, but he didn't, so, you got this effort!

Half an hour too late!
We did manage to meet some of the gang, Holly got to say hello to Bert. Bert just loves Holly Chops but she plays him up something awful  and acts the tart something rotten!

After Bert we met up with Scruff and the rest of the gang.

Scruff was more interested in sniffs but he did say hello to OTL!

I'm on the trail of a sniff, sorry, can't stop!
There was Fluffy, that's not her real name but because her hair is so soft and fluffy OTL can't always get a focus lock!

Mind you that didn't stop her from greeting OTL and get a stroke!

It's the wind that does it!
Today has been the first day when OTL has been able to sit down at the computer and catch up  on the pile of paperwork on his desk.

Lunchtime we took May and Eric with us for a walk and just for them the sun was out although there was a bit of a wind blowing!

This afternoon it was paperwork again and paying invoices that have piled up over the last two weeks!

So, if OTL wants to work, then we can snooze!

It looks like it will be wet this weekend and a storm is heading our way, OTL says he thinks it will be called 'Hanna' mind you it could also be called 'Harry'!

See you tomorrow!

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy, Eric de Ferret and Monty de Ferret!

Emergency Trip to Birmingham!

Hello Woofers!

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy, Eric de Ferret and Monty de Ferret here again!

Sorry about missing yesterdays doings but we have a good excuse, honest, and on top of that it wasn't our fault!

You see, we were having a great time with Old Two Legs, playing chase around the house, woofing at the neighbours and eating loads of nibbles while watching the Game of Thrones on the TV.

Then we got a message from The Missus wot is up in Birmingham visiting and playing about making cards.

The message read, 'I don't feel well, I got a cough and can't sleep and I have got conjunctivitis in my eyes! Come and pick me up, I wanna go home!'

That was it, we had to clear up all the crumbs, sweep up the all the stuff on the floor in the kitchen and then there was all the ferret food that was hidden under the sofa! We had a couple of deliveries to make before heading off north!

So, 360 miles and nine and a half hours later TM was back home together with all her ten boxes of card making stuff!

This morning she was feeling better, we know that 'cos she has been ordering OTL about and giving him jobs to do!

We managed to sneak him out for a walk this morning and we all did some rabbit hunting!

While Holly was sniffing the path edges I spotted the first rabbit, well OTL saw it first but I took over and stalked it for a couple of minutes before doing the 'Bunny Chase' but it got away, just!

I spy a Bunny!
OTL was more interested in the blooming leaves that were bursting out of the buds on the tree!

Yesterday it was just a bud!
When we got out of the woods OTL tried another 'sunrise' photo and the fact there was a cloud brushing across the sky made for something different!

Moody or wot?
As we headed back to the car, Holly and I were sniffin' the sniffs and reading the 'notice board' and didn't notice that OTL was having a chat with something in the bushes!

It was a rabbit!

Seems the rabbit wasn't going to run 'cos we were too close and the rabbit would have made too much noise and we would have been there like a shot!

Please, don't tell them I'm here!
Of course, OTL, being a bit of a softy, just walked past the bunny!

Today it has been clear up time and this afternoon he had to go and visit another customer so Holly and I decided to stay at home and make sure TM took her medicine!

So, all in all, a successful day and now we have the rain to look forward to tomorrow!

By for now!

Luv,

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy, Eric de Ferret and Monty de Ferret.

Is it Monday already?

Hi Woofers!

Us again, Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy, Eric de Ferret and Monty de Ferret!

Time flies when your having fun!

Like this morning, there we were, out for the morning stroll and we saw that bunny again. It was just too far away to give chase but Holly put in a token dash but gave up after the bunny disappeared into the brambles!

I'm a sneaky bunny and you can't catch me!
After we came out of the woods there were no bunnies out having breakfast, so, we just sort of enjoyed all the wet sniffs!

Well, there was a lot of dew on the trees this morning.

No Bunnies and on top of that, my paws are wet!
Old Two Legs took this one 'cos he says that the light behind the tree reflects off the leaves and enhances the leaves in front.

Honestly, I just didn't understand what the woof he was talking about!

Yeah, it's sort of moody, I think!
Once we got out of the woods we could see the sun had got up but OTL still took a picture and did some Fiddly Diddly on the camera that made it look as though it's even earlier than it really was.

Yeah, it's OK but we have seen a few like this before!
Lunchtime we took Wendy and Monty out with us for a walk. There were loads of Two Legs and Mini Two Legs running about plus there were loads of strange woofers plus a smattering of woofers we knew.

Of course, the ferrets got all the attention and together with OTL telling them all about ferrets.....it was getting a bit boring!

As we got onto the football field a car parked up and unloaded some Mini TL's who rushed over the see the ferrets close up. When they arrived Holly and I wandered off towards their car 'cos where there's cars there is normally food!

The Mini TL's stopped and looked at the ferrets.........'Where is Eric? And Where is Miss May/'

Now this is not normal, TL's remembering ferret names, we must have made an impression the last time we met them!

Both Monty and Wendy were tickled pink that they almost got remembered and promised to pass on a 'Hello' from the Mini TL's!

This afternoon OTL has been busy pulling weeds from the joins in the bricks on the drive out the front of the house. He has a problem though, all that bending and crawling around has caused some pain in his back, I suppose it will be a couple of pain killers before bed and maybe a slurp of giggle juice to get him asleep tonight!

Now, we reckon there is a good chance of some chicken for dinner, we have seen him getting a pack of chicken bits out of the fridge!

See you tomorrow!

Luv,

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy, Eric de Ferret and Monty de Ferret!
