A Good Day for Hunting!

Hello Woofers!

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy, Eric de Ferret and Monty de Ferret back again!

Well, what a day it's been today. Not the best weather wise but at least it hasn't been raining! There we were all fast asleep and enjoying the extra space we had in bed when we were awaken by The Missus sending a 'Good Morning' message on the mobile phone! I mean, she wakes us all up when she is at  home but why do it when she is away!

Rumour has it that last night she and The Cat Woman were up late last night drinking their way along the Gin Shelve in the bar!

You just can't trust them!

Well, being up so early we headed off to the sea shore and caught the Wormy May playing with the worms!

'Morning Wormy Man!
You know it was so early that we didn't see a single rabbit anywhere, all the birds were still tucked up in their nests and the moths had all gone to bed as well!

I mean, was it something we said?
Being nothing else to photograph, OTL got down on his knees and took a picture of some grass fonds that were about to spread pollen all over the place!

Looks pretty but does nothing for OTL's Hay Fever!
We reckoned he was very brave getting that close to the grass!

Along the path into the woods we saw the wild rose plant had sprouted a couple more blooms, so, click click went OTL, then he sneezed and nearly blew the flower off the tree!

Watch out, here comes a sneeze!
As we got deeper into the forest OTL was hunting around for anything that had legs and found this Micro Moth. Now, looking in his 'Book of British Insects' we reckon it's an Agriphila Tristella which is one of the Grass Moths Species, 'cept we found this on a tree leaf instead of a grass stem! Still, it was only 8mm long and it was clever for OTL to have spotted it!

One of the Grass Moth Gang!
Where the path sometimes gets really boggy when it rains they have put down some wood chippings to help soak it all up. Now this attracts some butterflies and one of the favourites is the Speckled Wood and this one opened it's wings just as OTL arrived!

Just look at those wings!
Just around the corner there was a little spider with two very long front legs, after looking in the book OTL says it could be a male Running Crab Spider 'cos the male has a black body and head while the female has a pale brown body!

Hello, my name is Tibellus Oblongus, but you can call me Archie!
Tibellus oblongus

We are off now 'cos the FA Cup football match has started!

See you tomorrow!

Gloomy or Wot!

Hi Woofers!

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy, Eric de Ferret and Monty de Ferret back again!

Well, we were expecting a bit of sunshine today but it's been nothing but gloomy all over the place!

Grey skies, grey clouds and a wind off the sea as well!

Not too cold, just dismal!

Not exactly exciting is it?
Of course, one of the problems is all the sniffs get blown about and finding them becomes very difficult!

Can you stop the wind? It's getting terribly hard to find the sniff!
It was just as well, we couldn't hang around 'cos Old Two Legs had his orders, he had to take The Missus down to The Cat Woman's house.

Ready for the off to the weekend retreat!

Lunchtime we were out again and this time we left the ferrets to snooze in their beds 'cos they wouldn't like the wind!

As we headed across the football field OTL spotted a rabbit chewing on some grass and wasn't paying too much attention to a couple of woofers and a Two Legs heading in his direction!

We got very close before Bunny Chops saw us, then it was  'POW!' and 'CHAAAAARGE!'

Come here you long eared lunch!
Well, first it went one way, then it changed direction and went another way, then it disappeared and came back running another way and finally it dived into the undergrowth and we lost it!

We will be back tomorrow so we will be after him again!

The rest of the walk was sniffing out the rabbits but they had all gone leaving just just the sniff!

It's no good, you can't eat rabbit sniffs!
Now what was worse, the wind was blowing all the insects back into their hiddy holes so, no photos!

Still, we got a good evening coming up, paws up on the sofa, nibble bags all open and Game of Thrones on the TV!

See you all tomorrow!

Luv,

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy, Eric de Ferret and Monty de Ferret!

All set for a fun weekend!

Hi Woofers!

It's Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy, Eric de Ferret and Monty de Ferret!

The wind is back, we can tell just how strong the wind is by the tears streaming down Old Two Legs cheek! Poor lad has glasses that help him see but when the wind hits them, it's just horrid, according to him anyway!

It's a good job us woofers don't suffer with bad eye sight!

Mind you, there are times when we don't know if it's a rabbit or a clump of weeds or a pigeon!

I dunno, I can't see it's white tail and does a bunny have wings?
OTL was missing out on the insects and stuff 'cos of the wind but he did find a Crane Fly hiding in the grass away from the wind!

Long legs can be awkward sometimes!
Hey! You know yesterday we found a moth on the front door? Well, OTL sends off an email to this Moth Website and asks wot our moth is called, seems it is very common and goes by the name of a Garden Carpet Moth. Now, knowing that OTL went back to the book and looked it up and found the picture and an explanation that the colours and pattern could change a little, so that's why he was not sure!

But he does now!

On our way back home we bumped into Bert, Holly's boyfriend, and she got sort of trapped but as he was whispering sweet nothings in her ear, I legged it past them in double quick time!

Fancy coming home with me and I'll show you my wicker bed?
Needless to say, Holly said he was a naughty woofer and wandered off wiggling her tail at him!

Sometimes I feel sorry for Bert, he is so smitten by Holly!

Lunchtime we took Miss May and Eric out with us, along the path on the hill and then across a wide area of grass and small bushes. May just loved it and had a super roll in the grass while Eric stuck his nose into the grass and sniffed his head off!

Holly and I have been making a list of the TV programs we want to watch over the weekend, starting off with Game of Thrones and then Lord of the Rings and several others!

The Missus is off to a weekend retreat with The Cat Woman and I suppose they will try to drink the bar dry!

See you all tomorrow!

Luv,

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy, Eric de Ferret and Monty de Ferret!

A day of Dunno's!

Hello Woofers!

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy, Eric de Ferret and Monty de Ferret here!

Well, today it has been just great! The wind has dropped and changed direction as well!

It was blowing gently from the east, so it was coming in off the sea.

Old Two Legs was still hunting any insects he could find to photograph and mumbling about the lack of plants for the insects to land on!

The first thing he found was this Small Copper who was resting on some wooden steps!

Well, it looks like a Small Copper!
There were loads of flies everywhere plus some small Horse Flies but we suggested that because they were small they should be called Pony Flies!

When we got home there was this moth resting on the  front door! OTL wasn't too sure what it was called so he has emailed the picture off to a Moth Web Site for some help!

Dunno what this one is but it was hanging on our front door!
Lunchtime we took Wendy and Monty out for a walk. Well, they had a walk then climbed back into the bag then out again for a walk, then back into the bag again!

I wish they would make up their minds!

We didn't take the camera 'cos minding the ferrets and us and watching out for strange ferret eating woofers, OTL wouldn't have enough paws to hold it all!

So, on the way back from our morning walk we saw this wild rose starting to shove it's blooms out!

Well, it looks like a wild rose!
Every time we go out for a walk we are always on the watch out for bunny rabbits but just of late we seem not fast enough to catch them!

Mind you, that doesn't stop us from trying!

It's a Daisy and Holly Bunny Chasing Woofers!
We have suggested that the ferrets try some bunny chasing but they just don't seem that enthusiastic about wrestling a rabbit!

We hope Archie Babe is getting over his itchy back, Holly reckons it was a mosquito wot did the damage, they are down here but we are lucky that OTL puts some yucky stuff on our back and it seems to keep most of the nasties away. Like at the moment the stuff is a repellent for those spider things called Ticks!

Now they are nasty things!

See you tomorrow!

Luv,

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy, Eric de Ferret and Monty de Ferret!

Another Warm and windy day!

Hello Woofers!

It's us again, Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy, Eric de Ferret and Monty de Ferret!

Well, we have discovered wot a Mexican Train is!

We weren't impressed, we thought it had something to do with eating!

This mornings walk was a little earlier than normal and we didn't spot any moths or insects other than some flies resting on the leaves and warming up for the day's fun and games!

We think this is a Cluster Fly
We had some fun chasing a couple of Bunnies but to be honest they were too far away for us to catch them!

There goes a bunny or two!
Lunchtime both Eric and May came out with us and although it was still windy, we managed to get out of the wind and went off sniffing the sniffs!

Of course, whenever Holly and I stopped for a sniff they would come charging up behind us and shout 'BOO'!

Take a deep breath and 'BOO!'
It was fun when both Eric and May did it at the same time!

I must admit, they very nearly got wee'd on a couple of times when they got too close!

Dangerous games!
Back home OTL has been searching through the paperwork 'cos it is getting close to 'Tax Return Time' which always causes him to get a headache!

With a bit of luck the wind might drop tomorrow and we can have some fun!

We feel sorry for Archie Babe and that horrid plastic collar, we hated it when we had to wear one, mind you after a while you get fed up trying to get around in and give up and rest your head on your paws and look glum!

See you tomorrow!

Luv,

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy, Eric de Ferret and Monty de Ferret!

Back to work again!

Hello Woofers!

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy, Eric de Ferret and Monty de Ferret here!

First of all, Licky Kisses to Archie Babe after being  munched by that blood hungry insect! It's a pity that his Two Legs that she only knows the sort of vet we have this end of the world, money hungry vets!

Just for a change it was rather sunny this morning, so the sniffs benefited from the warm weather!

This ones brewing nicely!
Because we were up earlier than normal there were just the insects flying about looking for a blood donor!

All is not lost 'cos we found a spider that was having a break before spinning more of his web, so he was helping keep the insect numbers down!

Seen any fat mosquitoes mate?
OTL spotted a bird box that some TL had mounted up in a tree. We have been keeping an eye on it just in case a bird started to build a nest. OTL reckons it could be a Blackbird or maybe a Thrush but so far, nothing!
A good home for someone!
Lunchtime it was warm and sunny so OTL asked Monty and Wendy if they wanted to come out for a walk?

Silly question!

We came across a pack of woofers that had been on a fun walk and a few of them had even tried swimming in the mud!

Holly and I got involved in a bit of butt sniffing while OTL and the ferrets said hello to the TL's. All of a sudden the pack leader, who is a bitch sheep dog, pinned a big black Labrador to the ground and did a full, teeth barred, snarling growl!

Don't worry says the TL, he is just being put in his place!

It was a good job Holly and I were on the other side of the pack!

Monty and Wendy were tucked up in the ferret bag but had their noses poked out the top of the bag, just to watch the woofer getting told off , twice!

Back home OTL got going again with his work and both Monty and Wendy got tucked up in a ferret bag for a well deserved snooze!

Wake us up at dinner time please!
So, that is it, another day and it's getting warmer!

See you tomorrow!

Luv,

At last, the Sun!

Hi Woofers!

Here we are again, Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy, Eric de Ferret and Monty de Ferret!

Wot a super day! No rain, little wind and loads of sunshine between the clouds!

We walked through the forest and Old Two Legs caught the sun beams filtering through the canopy of trees, looked rather good!

Oh yes, very ethereal!
Being as the sun was up, the insects were starting to fly around after drying their wings in the heat of the sun. This fly was just about to fly off but OTL managed to click off a couple of shot!

No photographs until I got my makeup on!
We didn't get any objections from the flowers or the grass!

No little rainbows today, just damp grass!
Along the path at the top of the hill we saw this Dandy Lion plant with all it's seeds covered in dew. Now, because there wasn't any big area's where dew could gather means that the dew droplets were going to be small. It almost looked like it was covered in snow!

Just don't sneeze!
Here is another shot but a lot closer so you can see the tiny droplets!

OTL would have needed a tripod to get any closer!
Back home it was as normal, OTL shovelling ferret poo while Holly and I took time to have a snooze on the bed!

Eric was up to his normal tricks, fighting with Wendy and Monty through the bars of the cage. Next he climbed up on the top of the cage and tried to get Monty to have a fight while hanging by his claws!

Fat chance!

Not getting any answer from Monty, Eric called out to OTL to get him down and was soon crawling onto OTL's shoulders!

Oi! I need to get down now, where's my lift?
Eric the Terrible strikes again!

Lunchtime came and both May and Eric came out with us for a walk 'cos the sun was out and the temperature was warm enough for a roll on the grass!

Back home we were just in time to see the F1 racing!

Now, a question, just what is a Mexican Train? Wot has it got to do with eating?

Answers on a ten pound note!

See you tomorrow!

Luv,

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy, Eric de Ferret and Monty de Ferret!

A Day of three halves!

Hi Woofers!

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy, Eric de Ferret and Monty de Ferret back with you again!

We were out good and early this morning and it wasn't so damp as yesterday but Old Two Legs wellies still got a bit wet!

Not much of a sunrise and to be honest, the sun seems to be going to bed a bit later than normal and getting up a bit earlier than normal, so we get sunrises like this.

When the tides out you can see for miles!
Being that it's so light, the container ships get in and out in no time at all, well, they can see what they are doing!

OK, who is last in the queue?
Being a Saturday, there is always the 'Get Fit Fast' mob pounding up and down the sea shore!

Look! It's Sid the Streak on his morning run!
Being that it is damp there is always the odd moth or two left fluttering about. Now this one is a night time moth that OTL disturbed but we can't decide the exact species, is it a Lesser or not?

The Lesser Treble-bar moth is very similar to the Treble-bar. If the two moths are side by side, then other minor differences may be apparent Often disturbed during the day but flies from dusk to after dark. So, is it a Treble Bar or a Lesser Treble Bar? Well, we can agree that it has Treble Bars anyway!
Lunchtime we were out again but half way around it started to rain, OTL took one path while we took another and the result was OTL got to the car quicker while Holly and I got damp!

It's no good blaming me, it wasn't me who said 'This Way'!
Back home we settled down to watch the last two 'Game of Thrones' episodes, loads of dirty dealing and fights!

The Missus is up the village hall doing some glue and glitter sloshing.

It's OK, but she comes home all covered in the stuff which then falls off and lands on the carpet which then gets blown up in the air and the ferrets end up looking like a sparkly Christmas Tree!

Never mind, it's fun shining the torch on them at night and see them sparkle!

See you tomorrow!

Luv,

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy, Eric de Ferret and Monty de Ferret.

Monty and Wendy's game in the woods!

Hi Woofers!

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy, Eric de Ferret and Monty de Ferret here!

A day without rain! Well actually it was raining earlier this morning but by the time we got out it had finished and there was misty foggy stuff all over the place. All the trees and leaves and branches were dripping with dewy stuff and the sun was drying up all the wet that it could see!

Well, looking through the mist the sun looked really strange!

Has OTL been doing a 'Fiddly Diddly'?
Mind you, Old Two Legs does like to mess about sometimes but this one was taken from inside the forest!

Just look at that mist!
I must admit, the sun shining on the grass leaves makes a sort of miniature rainbow inside the drop of water!

Now, that looks pretty!
Hears another shot of wet grass!

Not the normal shot!
There was loads of drops on all the leaves, some hanging on while others look like they were hanging on and trying to decide to dry up or drop off!

A tough decision, let go or get sun dried!
Lunchtime we took Wendy and Monty out for a walk. We went along the sea front and then down into the forest where they had a ball chasing all the woody sniffs. One of the problems with taking the ferrets out is that OTL doesn't take the camera 'cos he is on constantly watching out for woofers off the lean 'cos we lost Wilma to a woofer off the lead. Mind you, we haven't seen that woofer since!

Monty just loves the grass on the football field but goes potty in the forest 'cos he reckons there are stoats living there!

Mind you, it has been ages since we have seen a stoat and even longer since we have seen a weasel!

F1 racing this weekend and there's another episode of Game of Thrones, so we are sorted!

See you tomorrow!

Luv,

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy, Eric de Ferret and Monty de Ferret!

It's going to be five bob to talk to him now!

Hi Woofers!

Here we are again, Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy, Eric de Ferret and Monty de Ferret!

Well, what an exciting day yesterday, baby naming and Archie Babe getting the 'Royal Wave'!

Eric said that he should be called Eric like wot he is 'cos that is just as royal! The only saving grace is that there is no HRH, so Archie Babe can't pull that one on us!

Wot a day it's been down here. No royalty but it did rain (not Reign!)

This morning wasn't so bad, we even spotted a couple of pigeons pretending to be vultures!

I'm getting fed up with waiting, can't we just kill something?
Next we spotted the Norwegian Pearl slowly heading up the Thames towards London.

Left hand down a bit!
Talking of going slow, Cyril de Slug was slipping across the path heading back for some breakfast!

It's hard work climbing over this grass 'cos it tickles your tummy!
Holly met up with that young Husky who's name we can't pronounce but she says it means 'Princess'!

Blow in my ear again and you'll be limping home!
Mind you, we knew she was just playing but Old Holly Chops has got a thing about getting too close to her ears!

Bye Bye Holly Chops!
Lunchtime came and both Eric and May came out for a run.

Unfortunately, so did the rain!

We were rushing from one tree to the next to keep out of the rain drops and the ferrets were getting a little damp!

Holly dashed off ahead of us and was found trying to get into the car!

Let's hope that the rain eases up tomorrow and we get some sun shine!

Bye for now.

Luv,

Daisy, Holly, Miss May, Miss Wendy, Eric de Ferret and Monty de Ferret!
